The Peridea sequences were actually primarily shot in the Scottish Highlands, not California, so those moody, sweeping landscapes are very much real, aside from stuff like the temple and ISD.

I loved this episode so much! I felt like everything about it was fantastic. Every scene and moment was just so amazing! I thought that the writing was fantastic, the acting was amazing, and the tone was perfect. All throughout the episode I was curious about what was going to happen next and it just had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire episode. And I feel like I can’t say enough just how incredible the music for this episode was, I’m so glad that they brought Kevin Kiner back to do this shows score. And I feel like all the performances in this episode was amazing. Each actor was giving a fantastic performance and I felt like they were all doing an amazing job for these characters. And have completely sold me on their performances for these characters. They all felt like they were fully dedicate and invested to their character and their role. Starting the episode off we get this great shot of some sort of Court/Senate building on Coruscant, which was really cool to see, where Hera, Carson and Chopper are being tried. Also it was great to get to see Mon Mothma in person in this episode. And kind of a minor thing, but I like that Carson mentioned the events of the Mando Season 3 Finale. And honestly, Xiono may be the worst character ever. Literally every second this dude is on screen I want him to shut up. And on top of that he is the biggest hypocrite ever, he accused Hera of abusing her power when in episode 3 he practically admitted to taking up the position of one of the new highest ranking senators without siding with the Rebels in the war. Anyway, getting to see C3PO was really cool, it was so unexpected but I loved it. I think he was used perfectly in his few minutes of screen time. I also really liked the mention of Leia. Especially how she is in support with what Hera is trying to do. Leia being mentioned and having a part in helping them out really makes this feel even more connected to the movies. I do wish that Zeb or Old Man Rex were a part of or at least present during this scene. And I loved getting to see Ahsoka training to old messages that Anakin had made for her. Not only was it cool to see live action Clone Wars Anakin one last time but I really liked how, despite no longer needing to listen to the information given in the messages, Ahsoka still plays them in the background of her training sessions so she can feel some form of Anakin’s presence again. Also I think that hologram was the first sort of mention Asajj Ventress has had in live action which was pretty cool. And the sequence of Ahsoka flying her T-6 through the mine field and planetary ring was so cool. The parts in the planetary ring looked great and were so atmospheric with all the dust, debris and bones floating around while they flew through it. The whole scene really reminded me of the asteroid chase scene in Empire Strikes Back. I loved getting to see more shots of Thrawn’s battle damaged Star Destroyer (the Chimaera) it just looks so awesome in every shot. And I’m still very curious to learn more about Captain Enoch, I hope that he has more to do in the future, I feel like he has a lot of potential. I also really liked the brief scene of Sabine catching Ezra up on everything he has missed since he has been gone, I just thought it was a fun and wholesome little scene. Although I kind of wish that she went a little more in detail and maybe talked about Luke specifically. And I loved the scene where Thrawn learns that Ahsoka’s master was Anakin. The way his whole demeanor and attitude changed when he found this out was absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to see what this will lead to and in what way he will try to use this information against Ahsoka. And the scene where Ahsoka uses the force to connect with Sabine was really cool. I really liked the use of the camera with how it focused on both of their faces and the mythical sort of way the audio faded everything else out in their surroundings. And the scene where Ezra and Sabine fight the Raiders was really cool. I thought it was cute to see the hermit crab things trying to fight back against the Raiders by throwing stuff at them. And getting to see Sabine fight them using her blasters and lightsaber at the same time was really cool. I also liked getting to see Ezra fight with a martial arts style of combat and by exclusively using the force. But something about how he refused to use his lightsaber makes me think that something has happened to him while he was here or that he has somewhat swore off from using it. Then we get to see the amazing rematch between Ahsoka and Baylan. I loved this fight, it wasn’t very long but the music and choreography made it so awesome. Their fighting was such a perfect combination of quick, precise, powerful and tight movements that made the entire fight was engaging and super tense. There were about two or three times throughout this fight where I was honestly a little nervous that Ahsoka had slashed at or stabbed Baylan. Then we get to see Baylan’s final scene for this episode, and his performance in this moment and this episode as a whole was able to give off this feeling of mysticism and wary wisdom which made it so every one of his lines would make you even more curious about what he was doing and where he was going. I’m still very curious and interested to learn about what Baylan wants to gain from this plant and what exactly it is that is calling to him. I also liked getting to see Ezra and Sabine fighting the Stormtroopers. It’s just always fun to get to see the main characters taking down Stormtroopers. Also Ezra was unstoppable with that Stormtrooper blaster, I don’t think he missed even once. And it was awesome when Sabine blew up those three Stormtroopers, it looked really cool too. And I loved the scene where Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine all reunited. The joy, happiness and excitement on Ahsoka’s face was just perfect, you could just feel that she was overjoyed to finally find Ezra. I can’t wait to get to see the dynamic between these three more in the next/final episode of the show. Then we get Thrawn’s final scene of the episode, and man, every word out of his mouth feels perfect. I think Lars Mikkelsen did an excellent job at reprising this character, with every scene he just brought this amazing presence with him. Whether it be through his dialogue or how calm and collected he always comes off as, I think they did an amazing job at portraying him. I can’t wait to get to see even more of him in the final episode. And maybe even in the upcoming Dave Filoni movie. I can’t wait to see where this will lead into next week’s episode. I am very curious to see how the ending of this episode will lead into next week’s episode and how it will impact the future of this show and its continuing story. I can’t believe that there are only one episode left of this fantastic series. I’m not sure if I’m ready for it to be over. But I am still loving everything about this show and I can’t wait to see where this story and all the characters involved will go next. I cannot wait for next week’s episode. Rest in Peace Ray Stevenson

Also, Ross, I don’t think anyone noticed, but I think I saw Matt Michnovetz (writer from Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch) and Keith Kellogg (animator of Clone Wars, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, and The Bad Batch) in the background where Chopper and Carson Teva are sitting.

If I may, Ross, I know people will try to use the words “Glup Shitto” yet again when it comes to the appearance of C-3PO and Anakin Skywalker in the penultimate episode of Ahsoka, but that’s not true at all when you see that 3PO was there to represent and save Hera on behalf of Leia in a way that shows Filoni tastefully honoring the legacy, presence and character of Carrie Fisher as Leia without appearing by CG deepfake or uncanny valley de-aging. And I think Carrie Fisher is smiling from above at how Filoni handled her presence in Ahsoka well. Also, it made sense to have Anakin’s hologram in this episode so Ahsoka could get one last fight lesson from his prerecorded training lessons worked on before she went to fight against Thrawn and save Ezra and Sabine. So, yeah, it made sense for them to appear and wasn’t just fan service.

I will say that having C-3PO represent for Hera on behalf of Leia also speaks to Lucasfilm’s still-lingering reluctance to recast iconic characters with new actors after the failure of Solo despite Donald Glover’s Lando movie. So they really need to move away from that and just accept backlash and recast and move away from deepfaking characters and de-aging with AI, especially with both strikes coming to an end soon.
