While I wish it did, and I am pissed it isn't performing as well as it deserves, there is kinda a reason. This show is coming off the heels of two underwhelming shows, it is centered on a less hyped character than the re ious two as well (Boba and Kenobi vs Andor), and it has to compete with two shows on different streaming services that all 3 usually appeal to the same audiences. That being House of Dragons and Rings of Power. There are, sadly, way too many people out there who felt underwhelmed with the last two Star Wars shows, weren't as hyped for Andor to begin with, and didn't feel the draw. Couple that with many people who felt the need to make a choice between one or two streaming services rather than all 3, and the problem becomes clear. I only wish people who didn't give the show it's due chance get their minds changed. This is the best thing Star Wars has done in many many years.

Mon Mothma could easily live a life of luxury and not feel so uneasy or afraid of being discovered, if she just didn’t care. It takes an incredible amount of intellect and empathy to feel so compelled to jeopardize your own life/lifestyle for others. It must be an uneasiness with the suffering of others, greater than the fear of losing your own comfort or life. That’s the common trait in all heroes throughout history.

They weren't able to vote until they were in their mid-50's in age. Sure you can run from trouble that's around that's happening on a large scale, but sooner or later you have to decide are you going to just be a cog in the machine and do nothing about it or stand your ground and fight for what's right.

This is the pivot point: Luthen Rael wants the misery to increase. During the occupation of Yugoslavia, the Axis said, 'kill one of ours and we'll shoot 100 of yours in retaliation and burn their neighbors' homes and farms'. The leader of the Partisans, Tito, was OK with with that: the people who survived the reprisals would have nothing left to lose and plenty to avenge, so they'd flock to the 'resistance'.

Such an underrated moment. Total surprise to see her find such agency, given her age and limited ability. Last we saw her she was crying and lonely elderly woman. But she shows Cassian that she has purpose even if he doesn't have it (yet), and she is strong enough to hold to that even though that means letting Cassian go. The courage & strength from her is so palpable and exposes Andor's relative shallowness in that moment.

At the very end of the episode, as Syril is looking up from his octagonal cell ... the scene is punctuated by the sound effect of a jail cell door slamming shut. I feel like this implies Syril will do something active to "break out" of his prison, just as Cassian will need to also.

It's not even that Dedra stepped out of line, they were told at the start that as a result of the ""attack" on aldhani they'd have access to the resources they needed basically without question, but she was the only one who actually listened to that. Blevins was all "she broke the rules, i'm gonna snitch", but she was utilizing the resources granted to her by someone even higher up than Partagaz and Partagaz obviously saw that she did indeed listen to instructions.
@juvandy2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Everyone else is captured by the bureaucracy, which happens in literally every such situation. Dedra is ambitious and intelligent, and she's brave enough to stand up for herself and what she thinks is right. Partagaz is a good enough manager to recognize talent, and will give it room to grow...or to fail. Ultimately, it's her theory, and he's giving her the opportunity to chase it. But, make no mistake- is she turned out to be wrong, he would slap her right back down. It's not HIS theory. And that is actually pretty good management/leadership. It's really interesting to see the nuts and bolts of the empire here. Some leaders are incompetent. Others are not. The competent, calm leaders are the ones to watch out for.

Yup, that's the architecture Achara was asking about (the Barbican Centre and Estate), but the interior shot of the ramp is also from the Barbican Centre. The beach scene on Niamos was actually Cleveleys on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire too. With the Cruachan Dam used as the dam in episode 5 and 6 in Scotland, and the highlands around, and with the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking and the Brunswick Centre used for Syril's housing estate there's been some cracking locations from England and Scotland with just the right aesthetic tweaks. This episode should have been named A new Hope ^^. So many gold lines in this episode. The writing (and acting) is frankly absolutely stellar ! Which is, I guess, appropriate for a show called STAR Wars. Funny thing is the entirety of the surround cast is more interesting than Cassian himself. Not that he's a weak protagonist, but everyone else in this episode, from Luthen to Mon Mothma to Maarva to Deidra to Bixx got their moment to shine (that moment when Cassian told her she wouldn't need to worry about him anymore, you could instantly feel on her face that she realized she went too far and with all her accusations, she pushed him so much away that this might very well be the last time in their lifetime they got to see each other). More of this, please !

I just noticed something. Syril's mom belittles him for wearing a high collar, as an indicator he doesn't believe in himself, is desparate, etc. Cut to the next scene, and ALL of the ISB officers have high collars. It's kind of the going thing for imperial uniforms. Is the implication that imperial officers are insecure, desparate, and the only thing they can do to maintain their self-esteem is use their power to belittle others? Hmmm...

I'm theorizing that Supervisor Meero will find Syril Karn's name in the report about the disturbance on Ferrix and the stolen StarPath unit. She will seek him out in connection to the two assailants to see if he can identify any of them, and that will bring Andor into Meero's sights. I would love to see Karn go back to his mom wearing the white ISB uniform and ask her "What do you think of my collar now, mother?" LOL!

Im 90percent sure the isb head is the blonde womans dad... A offhand comment in the first ep they appeared in made me think it straight away, plus couple other bits along the way. Then another sly comment here in this ep... I think they're father and daughter.

I bet the women he was with at the end is or is related to some high ranking imperial officer who shows him leniency. Only for her to find his go box and realize he was part of the robbery on Aldhani. Add some sympathy fuel to the fire when the rebels invariably blow the shit out of some imperial base with both diehard and 'innocent' imperial folk.

I recently rewatched rogue one, but the pacing and dumb references still distracted me (I think they should've spent a little more time in editing with that one)

Be interesting to see how this first season ends. I'm wondering if we will ever see the Emperor or not, I hope so.

One last thing. I always thought the empire was the good guys. I felt the Sith corrupted the empire. Visually, the empire fired green lasers and the rebels fired red lasers. Sith had red light sabers and the Jedi had green and blue light sabers.
