It's harsh but a necessity: the Rebellion in its infancy is simply too undermanned and too underfunded to put any meaningful resistance. They needed PEOPLE to support its cause, by whatever means necessary. The heist at Aldhani spurred the Empire into cracking down on any potential offender throughout the galaxy, forcing people to live under the tyrannical rule because of the rebels' action, which means more and more people will then flock to the rebels' cause and support them in their fight against the Empire (Andor's adoptive mother being one of them). It's simple yet brilliant: the rebels get the Empire to take its gloves off and show the galaxy how rotten it truly is - even if it means some unfortunate folks have to suffer through said tyranny first.

I am loving the series. It’s “ground-level” Star Wars, which hasn’t been done before, so it might seem “outside” of Star Wars to some, but is just “expanded Star Wars” to many of us. Finally, the Star Wars story-telling has “grown up” to the maturity of folks like me who watched A New Hope in its first run in theaters over 40 years. At 11 years old, I loved the flash and action and crazy-looking aliens. At my now much-advanced age, I enjoy - if not even prefer - a patient story with a lot more depth and range of subtle emotion. I no longer need to be “hit over the head” with visuals and sounds - the “thrill” now being a more thought-provoking, self-ruminating ride.

I loved this episode, and every reaction I watch just reinforces what I loved about it. Every conversation is so well performed, and is hitting more emotionally than ever in the show. We really saw the impact of the events of Aldhani here. Military escalation -- our first storm troopers and Star Destroyer of the show. Both Luthen and Mon Mothma making increased moves. Maarva's inspired to heartbreakingly dedicate to cause over her relationship with Cassian -- more rebels rising up. Indiscriminate harassment and imprisonment of innocents (or at least semi-innocent) across the galaxy. I love that we're seeing that impact of the "Announcement" across the galaxy and all walks of life. And as always executed to such a perfect level of quality. This show is amazing.

Not gonna lie, I'd never seen Space Cancun in Star Wars and I liked it. As for Clem, Luthen literally told Cassian when he recruited him that he knew the Empire had hanged his father. I really loved this episode, although I didn’t love it as much as episode six, I still thought that this one was really great. It had this great balance of being suspenseful and emotional. All of Cassian’s scenes with Maarva were so heartfelt yet sad. And speaking Maarva, I was so glad to to see her and BE come back into the show. It was really cool to see Yularan (from Clone Wars) make a live action appearance for the opening scene. And I really loved the parallel between Clem and Cassian. In the flashback scene, we see Clem get hung for being accused of something that he didn’t do, just like how in the ending scene of the episode Cassian gets for being accused of something that he didn’t do. And this is implied even heavier when we see the Imperial Security Droid grab Cassian by the throat and say “hang”. Also it was really cool to see some Imperial Security Droid’s, maybe this is a set up for K2S0’s introduction into the show. Anyways I am super interested to see what happens next and I can’t wait to see next weeks episode.

And I’m all for Palpatine showing up, if it makes sense for the story and episode and is handled properly (good writing, dialogue, tone, menace etc.). And if Palpatine was to at least make a cameo, this would be the show to do it since it’s in large part about the intricacies and politics of the Imperial/Galactic Empire. The Imperial forces take their orders from Palpatine, so it makes perfect sense for him to get involved if the situation is serious enough.

of course i cant say it 100% but I'm willing to bet my life the ISB guy in the beginning was Yularen!

Going from an emotional scene between Cassian and Maarva and then cutting to him shirtless somewhere on a tropical planet with a beautiful woman in his bed is the most severe form of psychological whiplash. Nemik's manifesto will live on through Cassian when he says in Rogue One "rebellions are built on hope."

Namik's manifesto will be back to bite cassian in the ass. Nobody knows it's in a locked box above the shower, and he is going to jail for 6 years

I'm guessing that Cass attacking the troopers as a kid is what landed him in juvie

A very interesting fallout episode. Sure, it's a bit of a single inbetween episode, but it's all we needed to know about the repercussions of the heist of Aldhani, and the morale reach it had not only on the Empire, but also on the Galactic population. That scene with Marva was so emotionally complex, coz you hear the hope in Marva's voice and see its glimpse in her eyes, and you see at the same time the pride but also the need of Cassian to not tell her it was him, or she will get in trouble later. And the Mon Mothma scene was definitely a scene stealer ! I kinda got the feeling this scene was jumbled in the editing room. This looks like the dinner party that was alluded from her husband in episode 4, and chronologicallly speaking, I feel like it made more sense if it happened around ep 4 or 5 (since she is bringing in her friend to the inner circle, like she told Luthen in ep.4 and that he reminded her about this episode), but I guess they wanted to keep the emotional buildup so they kept this scene for this episode after the Luthen scene (another scene stealer, damn you Stellan !), so that she doesn't get too overshadowed by Luthenhim. And of course, a 6 years sanction simply because an officer didn't like your tourist/migrant face is not relevant at all with our world right now. I have no idea what you're talking about...

Given what Maarva said, I wonder if the Kenari disaster wasn't triggered by Cassa's smashing the controls on the Republic transport. Hmm?

But they showed the abandoned mine before cassian and the kids without parents before they even got to the crashed ship
@kevenpinder70252 жыл бұрын
Granted. There are many unanswered questions re Kenari. But, the mine hadn't killed the kids. Something after the crash killed the crew, which Maarva suggested had dissipated. If there had been a lot more on the ship,...

Besides the nature and pacing of the show (which I love), I think one thing affecting the series' viewership is the lack of viral moments or any character hooks to draw people in. It doesn't have a Grogu or a Boba Fett or a young Leia. And I think K-2SO and his relationship with Andor will provide that in season 2, and hopefully pull people into the show, and even get them to check out season 1.

I know why this show feels so great. It feels like Game of Thrones in space. When Game of Thrones was great. Does anyone else feel this way?
