This show is the perfect example of a well written antagonist. We’ve been getting a lot of villains lately of “I’m evil, I’m going to massacre innocent people and entire planets just because.”

The people who jumped ship early are missing the beauty that this show is creating. Its halfway over and we are simultaneously rooting for Cassian and Meera and her imperial pursuits its insane and its the balance. On a style note when Cassian had a flashback about stormtroopers the actor was young Cassian from the back but front shots were Diego. Then we see Young Cassian rush storm troopers so I think thats when he gets imprisoned the first time.

Syril literally wakes up and his mother berates him for his clothing before a job interview. He continues to be surprisingly be a very grounded and relatable character. No doubt him and Dedra will cross paths soon in finding andor.

I will note: Syril's sense of self-worth is so low, he steps aside for a mouse droid. Also, I think the scenes with his mother are the most plainly telling about his character. Every other bit of characterization is shown (his lack of friends, his dedication to his job, his lack of charisma, etc.), whereas the scenes with his mother tell us both of his upbringing as well as the most plain exposition we get about his psychology.

I'm an original 1977 Movie watcher. I was 7 Years old. Watched it several times at a Drive-In theater, sitting on the hood with those metal boxes on your window. And believe it or not..... Anytime the Tie-fighters flew by in the screen...... It was true 3D sound, cause you heard all the other metal speakers in the cars around you, that I felt like I was right in that cockpit, while sitting on the hood or roof of that car. I really wasn't the reader, but did have the first set of comic books, or at least the Empire Strikes back ones, but never really got into the Books. What I love the most about Star Wars is... George gave us the foundation for these stories, in his early scripts and titles. I have been a Star Wars Fan since day one and I always will be one. George unknowingly knew. I am so excited that all 6 of my nipples are tingling that the forerunners of this show are doing an exceptional job to lore, legend, making cannon things that were once thought erased back into the Star Wars Universe.

The “rock in your hand” is meant as a threat that is non-lethal-essentially Mon Mothma’s public displays of trying to help people against imperial overreach in the senate. As opposed to the “dagger at the throat”, which is the lethal blow-or Mon Mothma’s secret work with the rebellion that will eventually “kill” the empire.

The difference between Andor and Han Solo is that Han could have talked himself out of getting caught by that shore trooper. Han plays it cool and would have sweet talked the trooper, "why are you looking around?", "Oh Just checking the beautiful views you guys have in this planet. You should feel lucky being stationed here soldier". Or something charming. Andor does not have that tact.

I think people have been trying to predict Cassian's full turn into the Rebellion, this may have shown the actual catalyst. Even just trying to keep his head low at the beachside the Empire can not be escaped. Maybe he internalizes Nemik's words now.

The Mon Mothma plot is so well done! Her prodding, dancing around the actual subject trying to find out how her youth friend feels, then hearing exactly what she needs to hear... Karn is definitely unhappy where he is, but Derdre will get to him and give him the opportunity to get back at Cassian. He's definitely going to be Empire all the way, after what Cassian did to him. One thing that really bugs me though, is it took 7 episodes to get an alien up front in screen. Even on Coruscant we don't see any aliens. Even when there's imperial apartheid we should see them pass by every now and then.

The scene with Andor being interrogated and arrested is all too real for me. As soon as I saw those men running and Cassian watching them, I just knew he was going to get mixed in with it against his will. As a Latino myself it angers me when I see police blame, accuse, and harass my people simply because of how they’re dressed, their mannerisms, accents or skin color. Also, Andor’s costume includes a huaraches style of shoe and that definitely pays homage to Diego’s Mexican heritage, another real world stab at his Latino identity and its influence on the judicial system in the U.S. I’m so happy and glad that the creators of this show are addressing these difficult truths that some people hate to see or think are false. I’ve already seen some shocked posts about it on Tumblr saying that it isn’t accurate towards the police and that things like that don’t actually happen. It does happen. It’s very real. Also the fact that Clem was hung simply for being in the wrong place and the wrong time was powerful to see as well. How many times do black people get killed or wrongly accused by police simply because of their looks? They didn’t cast a black actor for Clem by accident. Yet another beautiful demonstration of Andor’s social, racial and political writing.

After watching episode 7, I think Syril is fed up with Empire blandness and will join Andor. He likes to wear clothes different, hinting at he feels "different" than the mold and Empire is against that, so he cannot fit in and will have to find another flock that accepts him, unlike his mom and fellow Imperials. He will join Andor, maybe even help break him out of jail. Especially if he ends up in jail with Andor for killing his mom, hehe.

No, Syril wants to be in the empire. The whole thing about his collar and the not subtle at all cut to Dedra's collar shows that he is styling himself after the empire. He may eventually become disillusioned and join the rebels, but he's definitely going full empire first. He thinks they're doing the right thing - he hasn't seen the horrors they commit yet

As much as I love the good guys in the rebellion, there's something so compelling about the imperials and their motivation. Most notably Dedra got what she wanted in the ISB for the highest rank, and she's intellectully relentless in hunting down Cassian. Not only that, but there are hidden killers within the rebellion that wants Cass dead. That power play and dangerous competition is what made me love Andor even more as each episode goes on by. Both heroes and villains in this series have flaws, but their watchability's equally awesome in general. HYPED for episode 8 next week. The fact that Mon's pulling a Palpatine in her own side and it gives me literal chills.

When Mon Mothma says "Ive learned from Palpatine" I realized for the first time now how much the rebel networking hiding and operating in the shadows...inching little by little to being able to challenge and overturn the empire... mirrors how palpatine worked in the shadows manipulating things until the right moment to overturn the Republic and the Jedi" So cool to see many aspects of it here in Andor. Love it. "The Rebel Alliance" has so much more color to it now. GREAT!

I don't think that Luthens Death will be the reason Mothma departs Coruscant. First of all we already know that at least part of the reason is the Gorman Massaker and her accusing Palpatine to be the reason it happened. But my theory at the moment is that from this point onward Luthen and Mothma will become more and more distanced because of their different views on the Rebellion. I actually think one other reason she could at the end leave her Senator-Role would be Luthen becoming so radical that she can't watch anymore and wants to be able to control the Alliance (or the network as it is called here, because it hasn't fully solidified into the Alliance quite yet) much more directly and not only through people like Luthen

I think this kind of response was inevitable given how Palpatine set up the Empire. You have a whole bunch of petty bureaucrats competing for power and looking for any chance to increase their influence. This time the Army dropped the ball so the civilian security forces like the ISB jumped at a chance to enhance their reach. the ISB scene in this episode shows that most of the officers did not actually believe in a wide rebel conspiracy and were using this emergency to increase their portfolios. Only Dedra seems to actually look at real ways to stop the rebels. Everyone else is just on a power trip.

I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor that the shore trooper who arrested Kassian was played by Sam Whtwer, aka The Force Unleashed apprentice, and voice of Darth Maul.

K2 isn’t in season 1. Both Tony Gilroy and Alan Tudyk confirmed as such. This was most likely a trial run to see how well they could pull off the CGI on a TV budget.
