+Ken Banson the padding I used that is in the description comes with velcro with tape on the back in different shapes so you can fit it where needed depending on your head shape.

+Ken Banson I should also mention the velcro glue backing is very strong once permanently attached. But I was still able to take it off and move it several times as I tried different positions for the foam cushions.

I tried your suggestions and they worked great. I was able to get a thick piece of rectangular Styrofoam just larger than the microphone and cut a channel down the middle so the microphone could sit there. It holds it up in the position like you did with the Styrofoam peanut. I also had 2 extra foam pads in the kit I bought which I stuck on the back on the inside of the helmet which gave a little more reinforcement. Thanks again for the suggestion. I enjoy my new Stormtrooper helmet even more :)

I know this is a 3 yr video, but as someone who builds stuff and knows sound I have another mod for the voice. If you isolate the sound of your voice with a small hyperbolic mic, you would only hear what came through the voice changer. Maybe use a small tupperware with a mic at the bottom. Place it inside the helmet right in front of you mouth. The sound of your regular voice will be muffled, and you should also get an added tube like reverb effect.

Thank you for posting this. The straps can be removed by patiently disassembling the three helmet sections, then removing the screws from the interior face section. If takes patience, but it’s not difficult.

I felt the voice changer was not much better in how it sounded, but that could be my speakers. So the the changing of the strap to padding to make it more comfortable over a long period of wearing was nice going. Do you find you have any trouble your vision when wearing it? Some people are saying it is hard to see through when waling around.

The hardest part with the default straps is you can't look down properly. With the foam I don't have that problem. Last Halloween I wore it pretty much the entire day. At work, then walking the kids through the neighborhood. The padding makes a world of difference. I can just toss it over my head and it lines up perfectly every time. and I have full freedom of movement to look around. It makes a bigger difference than I expected.

I'll take your advice on the voice changer and the padding, because I can completely understand the complaints. The microphone is useless, and the straps do nothing. My all the weight lands on my forehead and nose which makes it uncomfortable after only a minute. Totally sucks. Either way, I decided to start customizing mine which means ill probably take out all the electronics, paint the inside black, maybe change the lenses, add fans FOR SURE, padding, etc. I want a sweet helmet so I can rent out a tux and go out with a tux and the helmet to a comic con or something of the sort.

The stormtroopers that walk around Disney use pre-recorded lines. They gave accelerometers in each of their fingers and their palms of their hands. Hand movements trigger voice lines. If you watch videos of them and look at their hands, it is very obvious when you look for it

Alright, in case anyone is still wondering how to disassemble the Black Series Stormtrooper helmet, I might be able to help you. Please note, I will not be responsible for any damaged helmets; these are the steps I took to disassemble my Black Series Stormtrooper bucket and I was successful and got to modify. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you do decide to continue, remember, be patient; be gentle; don't rush; I prefer to use an old card because it's flimsy and it's plastic, anything metallic and very thin is likely to cut and break the helmet; please read every step carefully before proceeding; evaluate this course of action; be sure you want to do this. Ok, let's get started: 1) You'll need an old credit/ debit card 2) Start with the top piece of the helmet 3) There are 4 plastic grips on the rounded diagonal corners (above both eyes and under both rear vents) 4) Start by using the card to push inward on the visible separation seam under one of the 2 rear vent grips first, proceed to the next grip until both back grips are both unlocked, move onto pushing inward on the front 2 grips above the rubber trim above the eyes one at a time (continue to lift gently after every grip is unlocked) 5) Ok, this is where the card is really handy, on the outside of the sides of the helmet (ears on down) you will notice an S shaped slit separation seam 6) Insert the card into the arch of the top part of the S slit and push inward and separate slowly; you will hear a snap 7) Do the same to the bottom part of the S slit, gently separating after every unlocked grip 8) Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the opposite side until bucket is fully disassembled I hope you are successful. It’s just impossible to please everyone. If they made them big enough to fit everyone they would look funny. If they made them in multiple sizes they would have to cost more. If they made them sound like they do in the 501st they would be $800. For what it is at this price I think they did a great job.

I don't mind the sound at all. What I mind is that battery access in the back of the head, which is the main reason you can't use this helmet for trooping with 501th :( But for display this is the best thing ever.

+Recon Gaming that is the 'own voice' setting on the voice changer right out of the box. It worked really well wearing it for about 4 hours on Monday. And I got a lot of "wow and he sounds like one too" which wouldn't happen with the one built in.

Nope. The older Hasbro Boba Fett voice changer worked better and it's just a toy. I just don't understand why Hasbro uses fancy term "black series" to up-scale the product.
