Rogue One, Mandalorian, and Andor are the best things Star Wars since 1983. Phasma is one of the few interesting characters in the final disjointed films that felt like she had a connection to the Star Wars Universe. Where's that Vader, Palpatine, Tarkin energy? Instead we have one kid playing pretend Hitler and the other one crying and smashing his helmet around. Phasma is the only character in the 3 films with the badass Imperial vibes.

Actually, everything with Phasma is a gain for the fans. She wasn't even supposed to exist as a character. She was a discarded design for Kylo Ren. The concept art hanged on the producers' wall, until Kathy Kennedy saw it and suggested that it be put in the movies because it just looked cool. She also asked for it to be played by a woman. Hence the introduction of a character who's there just because she looks awesome.

It's just copy and paste of the classic Stormtroopers with a slight modification to it's design tbh. I love it but just wished they'd have at least innovated a completely different armor at this point. The clones back then were 10 times cooler than these guys since they have their own unique colors, arts, and distinct helmet designs for prominent clones like Rex, Wolfe, Neyo, and Cody, and don't forget the ARC troopers and clone commandos.

Rewatching these scenes made me realize how cartoonish and awful the direction of the sequel trilogy was. Literally all of the characterization is hokey and hackey, all of the framing is goofball-tier, and all of the dialogue comes off as if written by a pretentious 19 year old after taking his first screen-writing course at NYU. It all combines to make one really cringey trilogy that is even worse than the prequels. Even with the prequels being politically-bloated CGI-fests, at least they never came off as smarmy as the sequels. "WHO'S IN CHARGE NOW? ME, I'M IN CHARGE". Good grief, hire an actual writer for this stuff.

Also, while you can explain away Phasma lowering the shields as cowardice or preservation of life, I kind of refuse to believe that a battlehardened veteran Officer like Phasma would fold like that knowing that if she complied, she'd be weakening their position. She would also KNOW that without her compliance, those shields don't get lowered and their whole plan is dust. They cannot execute her without any reliable backup plan and all of them would know it. Thus making it another example of just lazy screenwriting. What I DO like is how they didn't show her death outright but you caught a tiny glimpse of her face through her broken visor, which means in a future film/series/whatever, they could bring her back with a full face reveal and just a burn scar over her eye, never FULLY revealing that its Phasma but having the scar tissue on her face to hint at it.

Tbh that duel between her and Finn was probably the best scene of the sequel trilogy cause it was an electric baton (a heavy weapon) and a pike (a pretty light weapon) and it isn’t like other duel scenes where the light sabers are heavy and are just cgi base ball bats.
