The problem with "Star Wars" as a franchise is that it's perpetually fascinated with how things came to be in the present. It's always looking backwards or looking at the insignificant. For example, the MCU went forward, but it sucks when we stop to tell the secret history of Captain Marvel you never knew.

The only event I really liked was War of the bounty hunters, the rest was either too short or not necessary. The comics need to go to new eras and write stories where they don't have work around a film or already established lore, so they can just focus on the story itself.

I also wouldn't main more adaptions of good books or good games, or between good games, like I would love to read what happened between Fallen Order and Survivor🤷♀️ I wanted to love the Kenobi comic but it wasn't good, issue one with the flashback to Kenobi as a kid was very interesting and I had hoped the next stories would play into that, but I really didn't like those at all, way to much uninteresting text. Man I don't I hate anyone enough to tell them to read modern Marvel Star Comics. I guess if they don't mind going to an LCS each month they could give the next Star Wars run a try. The 2015 Star Wars and Darth Vader runs were good but it's a charley foxtrot to find because the marketing idiots at Marvel keep rebooting and it's a nightmare to find the right issue. I would recommend the High Republic comics because they at least have a different color banner for each new phase's run. Otherwise I'd recommend some TPB Epic Collections of the Dark Horse or original Marvel run. Marvel Unlimited might be okay to read the modern books online. I haven't tried it since I prefer the actual book and the old EU books. Comics can be fun but getting them to read is often an unnecessary pain in the butt. I'd recommend most people to start with Manga unless they have a specific character or run of interest that is only available in comics. I'll skip the new Star Wars run since it will be after RotJ and I don't really vibe with the sequels stuff enough to spend and time and money on it. I'm hoping they will do a dawn of the Jedi book eventually after they finish with the High Republic.

After Jedi ended, there was no point in collecting the comics anymore, so I stopped all together. I didn't collect anything SW related again for over 10 years before I started picking up some of the Dark Horse comics. The Disney buy-out ended that. Actually, sales for Star Wars were still pretty solid around the time of cancellation In 1986; Lucasfilm were tightening the screws on content and taking too long to approve plots, forcing the use of many fill in issues, to the point where marvel quietly canceled the book.

The Star Wars line should be very limited. I’m not sure how many big lines are ongoing right now, but it’s too much (or at least it seems like there is). Of the content I’ve read, very little was quality. If I were managing the Star Wars comics portfolio, it’d be 3 lines (different eras that span the universe timeline) and one never-ending line (sort of like an Action Comic or Tec comic, except it’s all about Star Wars adventures). None of it to be touched by Charles Soule.
@edg44414 ай бұрын
Jim, all I can say is don't get too optimistic about these issues. We'll have to use the fake MJ's motto about disappointment," If you expect disappointment, then you can never really get disappointed." Don't believe the hype. Disney/WB/Marvel/DC Comics/BBC/Netflix/Amazon, etc.. don't care what fans want, especially Straight White Males. As long as Disney's stock sells at $101 per share, their agenda, platform, and pushing the message will continue, no matter how many fans walk away and KZbin channels criticize their quality, content, and storylines. As the Who sang in the early '70s, "Won't Get Fooled Again." Great video and great content and coverage of the upcoming books.

Nothing new here. They do a run, close out the volume, and then move on to a new volume. Did this twice while I was running the NEC Brockton store. I am not sure why, unless the sales just get to a point where they need the bump in sales with a new volume of stories. They could easily shift the eras in the series without starting over. It is very obvious they don't want to get near a 100 issues on any series they do. Dr Aphra can go away like 5 years ago as its the worst selling of the titles they do and its the least interesting as it usually has a 3rd rate writer on it. But there are always Star Wars stories to tell so not like they are going to stop any time soon. I'd like to get a Star Wars story out of John Byrne just to see what he would do with it. Now there is a topic for a podcast discussion.

@@WeirdScienceComics I know. But it's still the same marketing as before. Do "X" many issues and re-kick to the next volume. In some way its a format that works for them, and I assume keeps everything profitable. However at the same time it can grate on the fans. Someone reading Star Wars now says "Why do I need a new series when I am buying the series as it is?" Just because its a new creative team doesn't mean its justified in the sales and marketing to re-kick the series again. Hells bells I would LOVE to see a series hit 100 again just to showcase it can be done and is not a drag on the audience or a hinderance to pulling in new readers.
