It's impressive that we can render scenes like that that fast, a decade ago a scene like that would take days to render.

Love the scene! The animation and movement is a little stiff, but otherwise this looks stupendous on every level. Definitely checking back here-can't wait to see how you figure out the eevee/cycles volumetric combination! #clonewarssaved

I really want to get into animation, I’m taking Moving Image Arts for A Level next year, idk if you did it but if you did, any ideas?
@BenJewer3 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with Moving Image Arts (wasn't offered when I did my A levels!) but I did take A level Art and managed to work Blender/animation into it as much as possible! Any kind of formal arts/film/photography education is always useful as it helps you to contextualise your work and understand things like style, composition etc. Pure technique is useless without understanding behind it, and nothing exists in a vacuum - learning about photography, film, lighting, storytelling etc. will all impact your animation work positively. However, when it comes to technical skill, there's no better teacher than passion and practice. You are unlikely to get specific technical training (especially in Blender) from an A level course, so if you really want to learn it, a lot of that will need to be in your own time. Luckily there are tons of resources out there about Blender and some really great tutorials. If you are passionate about it and put plenty of time in you will improve, it's as simple as that. Listen to people's criticism (even if you disagree with it), don't be too precious about your work, and always look for how you can improve what you've already done, even if you're happy with it. If you are constantly pushing yourself to do better you will always be learning. Best of luck!

What specs do you need to run this on your pc??
@BenJewer4 жыл бұрын
I’m running it on a 2015 iMac which doesn’t have the best specs graphics card wise, so most modern medium-range laptops or PCs should be able to run it fine. Some will take longer to render than others but you would be hard pushed to find a modern PC that can’t run blender/eevee at all.

What did you use for the emission
@BenJewer4 жыл бұрын
The lasers are just a regular emission shader, but I attached a point light to them so that they cast light through the volume (otherwise that's not possible in Eevee as far as I know).
