*First of all, why does this incredible artist NOT have over 1 million subscribers yet?* *Second, you are hands down one of the most amazing creators! All your work shows just how powerful Blender keeps on becoming & how limitless your creativity with it can be! Spectacular work, sir! I pray people will find out about your work!!*

I *really* hope the Blender devs can figure out how to add proper motion blur and dynamic GI (maybe voxel-based?) to Eevee. That would be a game-changer.

If you're bugged about baking indirect lighting in eevee, do what they did at crytek for Crysis 2 all the way through to Ryse and spam color picked area lights on every flat surface

I am in the process of rigging and would love to know how you did it. Is there any way you could make a tutorial on this. Even though you don't want to mislead anyone it would be really helpful to just show how you did it and maybe we can learn a few things. Thanks

I never use the knife tool. I'm just wondering is anyone has any suggestions about when it's best employed and what the advantages are.
@mad7nstinct494
@mad7nstinct494 4 жыл бұрын
Knife tool Is a very powerful tool. You can use it for example in subdiv modelling when you want to create a shape and manipulate the support loops. Hope it helps.

@@mad7nstinct494 It did, thanks! You know, I always have a tendency to add loops, inserts or fills between vertices. Let me try knifing as well, would be good to have it in my workflow.

A good thing about using knife is that you can cut unwraped/textured mash without the need to reset the uvwrap.

Got any tips for relating face count of a model to the texture resolution to get a good texel density, Im currently working on a model that has 150k faces and even with a 4k texture on it the texture resolution looks kinda janky close up. Ive maximised the space as much as possible, Im wondering if there some kind of face count limit to using one texture and know when to split it in more than one.
@BenJewer
@BenJewer 4 жыл бұрын
Texel density shouldn't depend on face count at all - it's purely a measure of the number of pixels in any given area. So for example, a single plane 10m x 10m mapped to fill a 1024 texture would have the exact same texel density as a 10m x 10m plane subdivided 10 times and places on the same texture. There is an addon for Blender called texel density checker that allows you to easily calculate or set texel density on individual UV islands on a model. Find a texel density that works for your model based on how close you're going to be seeing it, and then if your UVs end up too big to fit on a singe sheet, split it off into a separate texture.

Boolean is touchy and situational. It's best to use extrude whenever you can! Do the eyes using the knife tool or Displacement maps.

@BenJewer

I definitely want to cover this at some point, however right now I’m not able to record myself using blender or substance painter for a long time as it quickly starts to lag out my machine. I’m looking into getting a capture card so I can do so.

I’ll probably be doing tutorials on both blender and substance when I’m able to. You can do pretty much the same things in Blender as substance, the workflow just takes longer.
