One thing people forget when they hate on the romance is Anakin is a jedi who was trained to hide his emotions so when he has feelings for Padme he doesn’t know how to feel so of course he is going to be off in how to act plus Anakin is a teen so he has hormones raging through him.
@LordCommander-ui2fw3 жыл бұрын
Precisely. Padme has also had to suppress many of her feelings because she became a politician when most people are in middle school; it doesn't feel like they're ready for a relationship yet because they aren't. Padme and Anakin are two young people who have strong feelings for each other, came from backgrounds that made it hard to deal with said feelings, and were thrown together into an incredibly stressful situation where neither of them felt like they could keep their feelings to themselves anymore. So, as young people in such circumstances do, they didn't. They got together, and in the middle of the biggest war in a thousand years, one where either or both of them could lose everything they held dear, they did the best they could for each other and themselves. And I believe that, somehow, they could have made it work, if not for the innocent insensitivity of the Jedi and the manipulations of a certain Sith Lord.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy is a great masterpiece, it gives a real political context to better understand the events of the original trilogy, there are more planets like Naboo, Coruscant, Mustafar, Utapau, there is a lot of creativity in the settings, the lightsaber fights and the action scenes are more fluid, dynamic and better paced, there are a lot of emotions, the characters are very endearing, Anakin's journey is very well told from the beginning because he starts his switch to the dark side as soon as Qui Gon dies in episode 1. Yes, if Qui Gon would have trained Anakin, he wouldn't have become the monster he became, Anakin didn't need a brother like Obi-Wan but a father like Qui Gon, and his switch continues in episode 2 with the death of his mother, a scene that is so sad by the way. And Palpatine had the power over Anakin since his childhood, because at the end of The Phantom Menace, Anakin starts to side with the Emperor, proof that his destiny was all set, and this is also illustrated in episode 2 with the shadow of Anakin that forms the mask of Vader. And his love story with Padme is very well done because it's sad to think that he lost his great love because of the emperor, and we really hate the emperor and it's a relief when Vader takes the emperor and throws him into the void in Return of the Jedi because it's all his fault. The emperor is also better developed in the prequels than in the original trilogy since he is really shown as a manipulative cunning. The fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin gives more weight to their reunion in the Death Star in episode 4. There are memorable characters like Darth Maul, Obi-Wan McGregor, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Sidious, great scenes like the pod race, the fight with Maul and the one with Yoda and Palpatine and Obi-Wan and Anakin, the battle of Geonosis and in the prequels, we learn more about the history of the Empire with the fall of the Republic and we learn more about the Sith, and the actors are great.

Every Jar Jar hater is just a trent-follower. Before social media, there were only message boards (forums). People began making fun of the character, which turned into two camps. The haters and the defenders. Something that has been going on forever. Compare it to the Apple vs Samung kids who think they are right about everything in life and therefore only their opinion matters. It's like Windows vs Mac. Coke vs Pepsi. Playstation vs Wii. Star Wars just has a bigger range of fans, why such a thing back than could grow into so much hate (people didn't really respond to each other or share, before social media. it was just people stating things instead of really starting a conversation - meaning a lot of statements made it look like everyone had to follow the trend of hating on the character). If you're being objective, Jar Jar is a perfect fit for the series. Lucas created the series as a children-friendly series. Which needed weird creatures and slapstick-kind-of-humor. Every adult who started 'owning' the series like it was theirs started to hate on simple things like Jar Jar or the pugs (later on). It's just stupid. Adults 'deciding' how things should be interpret and/or what things are supposedly 'not funny'. This whole era of popculture/comic fans (aka nerds) ruined a lot of things in movies. They don't care about kids. As long as they can dress up at Comic Con and spend their entire adult life taking the story 'serious', everything else should adjust to their enjoyment. 'Childish' humor has no place in their 'bible'. Weird ass people.

The prequels are slightly flawed, particularly from a plot and storytelling perspective (and Jar Jar is a BAD character), but I think they're still quite well-made films with a decent story arc if you're able to set aside those flaws. The sequel trilogy, on the other hand, are really just not good in my opinion. They've got reasonably good actors, and the CG is on-point, but the story is old-hat and boring. I really tried to give it a chance by watching the second one after being underwhelmed by the first, but I really just couldn't give a shit enough to even pirate the third. I'd much rather have seen something based on some of the absolutely fantastic Extended Universe (aka "Legends") novels. Interestingly, I think the whiney little bitch personality of Anakin actually _isn't_ one of the prequel's flaws, as annoying as it might be at times.

The reason this film is disliked is several fold. The romance angle is the most obvious, because for all the justification made for it I've seen in it(they had to hide their feelings/both were awkward), it doesn't excuse that said romance was awful due to clunky dialogue and low chemistry between the characters. That this was the goal means that you made a shitty romance, congratulations it still sucks. I never got that logic of "I was aiming to make this component suck" that gets flung as a defense. Besides, I've seen the exact type of romance they were going for: the centuries old Romeo and Juliet, and this was handled quite badly in comparison to that one. To me the biggest issue I had was they put basically NO effort in building the original good rapport that Obi Wan and Anakin were supposed to have. The closest you really get out of it is when they are just talking about adventures they had. You do not see them at their best at any point in this movie, meaning that you cannot see the true tragedy. All you see is a whinging Anakin (which can be fair enough) regularly clashing with Obi Wan. You do not see the relationship that you see in Guinness' fond recollection in Episode IV out of this, and hell, relationships in this movie are non existent beyond the romance IMO. It would have probably been better to have shown that element first, and then show its beginning failure AFTER Anakin killing those Tuskens. Basically, the seed of darkness ruining what once was. Then there's the jump between A and B plots. To me, you get a weaker movie, because this by extension guarantees that you can't build on any relations that you are supposed to see since you have to jump between the elements. I consider Episode II a bad movie, but mainly because of the goals set and the bars it surrounds itself by. I can at least kind of enjoy Phantom Menace to some degree, and the next movie does a better job with stuff.

I think the Romance doesn't really ruin this movie tho Every star wars films have had things and I ignore all of them Anakin is whiny because his mother died in his hands Can you imagine that I think it's not a bad movie it's a average movie It has alot of stuff to like but Also a lot of stuff to dislike I think people shouldn't ignore the good things in it I think it's better then 1 because phantom menace always puts me to sleep I swear but that's just me in this one I can at least enjoy the story it's just average none of the star wars movies are as bad as people say they people take bad things too serious THE last jedi isn't even that bad even The Rise of skywalker people always ignore the good things in the prequels and sequels even if I'm not a big fan of the sequels doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy them I enjoy all tho I enjoy all of them the only thing that bother me with this movie is the dialogue between Anakin and padme but it's still not as bad people say even Rose & Jar Jar Aren't any where near as bad as people say The only bad thing is The Holiday special Here's my ranking tho 1 Revenge of the Sith ( fuck the haters ) 2 Return of the jedi 3 Empire strikes back ( Come at me ) 4 A new hope 5 The Force Awakens ( screw the haters ) 6 Attack of the clones ( The Romance wasn't even that bad ) 7 Rogue one 8 The Rise of skywalker 9 The phantom menace 10 The last jedi ( still enjoy it ) 11 Solo ( still enjoy it )

This one, in my opinion, is the worse of the prequels. There is no chemistry between Anikan and Padme.
