When George Lucas was in charge, even though some of the direction and dialogue was stiff, George was always innovating and pushing the boundaries. Sometimes it was hit or miss, but he and his crew were always inventing new ways to do the impossible. The effects didn't just directly impact his movies but the entire industry as well. Without George and ILM, movies that we know today wouldn't be possible. Honestly, George Lucas, James Cameron, and Stephen Spielberg are in a class of their own when it comes to technological innovation in movie making. We love you George, sorry that some fans and the media made you feel otherwise for several years, but I think most Star Wars fans appreciate just how much you effected our lives with your vision. It really is a case of, "you don't know what you got til it's gone."

sometimes when you watch the movies and then go on to watch these behind the scenes things that go really in depth to the production, sometimes you can’t even comprehend the amount of work that goes into it. one scene could contain months on months of effort from all the different departments all for something that ends up lasting a few minutes. it’s really impressive the amount of dedication and work goes into these films

I actually even do not understand why so many native English speakers have big concerns with CGI. Maybe a culture difference? I heard older generations of my culture(most of them never even knew what Star Wars is when they were young) saying that OT looked less realistic because they used too many "puppets". (Don't get me wrong. I , myself think OT did their best with the technologies they had. I just do not understand why so lots of English speakers literally consider CGI usages as drawbacks.)
@pikppa7 жыл бұрын
Generally the bashers and the internet flamers claim that CGI is cheaper and doesn't look real. Both are fake. CGI looks a lot more real than the old outdated stop motion and while costumes and makeup can be great there are limits to what you can do with it. Also CGI if only it is way more difficult to do than pratical effects.
@jhinabloomingflower8076 жыл бұрын
Hans Ollo because you dumbass there was a limit with the use of cgi back then.If star wars was made for the first time today it would be full of cgi and no creatures would be costumes and make up.Thats a tradition to honor the original Star wars trilogy. Fucking dumbass

They did. Way too much. Does anyone here know how logic works? You do get that using some practical effects doesn’t mean the vast majority of these movies did not use them, right? Whole characters were pure CGI. Landscapes, settings and ships-almost entirely digital. Practical effects were _rare_ in these films. Sure, they were there. But just barely.
@samuelketner13915 жыл бұрын

@@darkprose Joseph. You are the exact opposite of correct. Episode I and II each filmed in as many or more real world locations than the whole original trilogy. Each individual Prequel film built and filmed more miniatures than all of the OT, and each prequel film built hundreds of set. Ep3 built over 300 alone. Here you can see how the Prequels were just as practical as the originals.
