Today, we're revisiting an old childhood favorite: Galactic Battlegrounds. Basically, it's just like Age of Empires 2 but with a Star Wars skin and some pretty good campaigns. What's not to like?

Shift + right click mouse queue will work if you first shift + right click all the places you would like your unit to move, then let go / release the shift key and right click once more anywhere on map that you wish your unit to go to initiate the queue. Hope this helps! May the Force Be With You!

If you pressed that plus near the map it would give you more unit options such as, follow, guard, different forms of army formation types ect. Not many options but good ones.

In the harder levels of this game, the first part of the level is the worst, because they have lots of units and they just bum-rush you with them. But, once that's cleared up, and you've built up your armies and defenses, holding them back is no problem. Now and then they send columns of infantry, armor, and aircraft at you, but with the right defenses, you can hold them back.Then make a fleet of air cruisers that can flatten whole sections of the enemy base with a few shots, make some jet fighters to protect them from enemy air units, and the game's over. You're just tooling around the map casually turning whole cities into glass floors.

You can still queue up movement orders. You just need to release shift before the last order.

waypoints is a bit weird; you have to hold shif > then clickity the way points > then release shift > then click one more time (yes, weird, but it works)

I would be very excited to see a campaign of this. A few notes, difficulty in this game only increases AI skill, not buffs. So play on a higher difficulty and the AI will be smarter. And the wookie unique unit is a Berserker. They’re literally wookies with jetpacks and giant scimitars. This game is so similar to AoE but it is just so darn fun to play. There’s a highly satisfying ending after playing all the story campaigns in order. This game had so much detail in in. I remember watching a documentary about the making and the developers talked about how much research they did to flesh out the factions. The wookies were originally meant to be primitive but then they discovered that in Star Wars canon they’re one of the most advanced species so they incorporated that. Great game, thank you for playing it.

I always loved the clone troopers. Stupidly cheap and overpowered at full tech. Build a unit of 40 send them into combat. Begin next 40 troops halfway to the enemy and by the time the original wave is gone next 40 are ready having destroyed every unit on their side. Rinse and repeat.

I'm a year late but the movement queuing is indeed a little confusing. Shift click for the waypoints, then give the last move command after releasing shift to send them on their way

I suffered the most humiliating defeat of my life playing this game over a decade ago. I grew up playing C&C, Total War, Emperor Battle for Dune, Age of Empires...etc. While I enjoy most strats, massive infantry duels have always been my favorite. Anyays, so I was battling my little sister and instead of rushing, I gave her time to build up a base and army. I Had a massive army of storm troopers and we agreed to fight at a designated location. I show up and have no idea where her army is. I wait. She yells from the other room "ok, 1 sec" and then invisible jedi masters start massacring my guys faster than I thought possible. In moments my glorious army is slaughtered and her jedi attack my base. My defenses make short work of them and I quickly destroyed her base with my real army. Neither of us cared though. She was the real winner for straight up kicking my ass lol Her owning my stormtroopers has never stopped being funny to both of us. I just bought 2 copies of Galactic Battlegrounds at $2/ea on steam today so we can try and relive that wonderful day!

Rn i have a world on naboo with 4 teams of empire with two republic, wookies and rebels kind of as a transfer into the ot but the empire has killed so many of my troops i ended up building walls and a lot of shield generators lmao
