I like that Dagan Gera and Bode represent both halves of Anakin’s fall: Dagan was immensely arrogant and a skilled warrior, but his pride lead to his fall, to the point he didn’t see he had fallen to the dark side until he was too far in it to consider turning back. While on the other hand, Node’s fall came entirely from love and a fear of losing his loved ones. He feared losing his child so much he did Terrible things that ensured his death.

Yup I thought something similar but also remember that immense obsession with something can lead to the dark side as well, like how Dagan was so obsessed with Tanalor he became so arrogant and unstable. And Bode was so obsessed with not losing his daughter he failed to consider any other possibility besides betraying cal

I think they hit the perfect ratio with Bode. They made him JUST sympathetic enough for us to see why he is doing what he is doing, but JUST selfish enough that it felt satisfying to shoot him twice.

I agree. His backstory and motives are very sympathetic but his trauma from Order 66/losing his wife has given him a fear of losing his daughter. That trauma combined with his increasing use of the dark side made him irrational, selfish caused him to lash out . He barely seemed to. Price he put his daughter in danger from two of his attacks. Bode was a fun character and his boss fights were great.

i suspected bode from the very beginning something felt off and sus about him, but i did not expect him to be a former jedi, force sensitive, with a red lightsaber. i assumed him to be an imperial spy, maybe even an imperial supercommando mandolorian traitor given his jetpack.

I always thought it was weird that a regular person like him with no armor was able to keep up with cal with the crazy people they face. Like he was very skilled by human standards in Star Wars helping cal take out monsters and lightsaber wielders.

Honestly I really liked Bode as a villain more than Dagan. Dagan was always a little too pompous and driven by ego, but Bode just wants to protect his family. He barely survived the Jedi purge and the he lost his lover, he refused to lose his daughter and it drove him to the dark side.

They’re both foils to Cal in different ways. Dagan is what Cal could become if he lets his obsessions consume him, Dagan was willing to work with a ruthless Jedi killing warlord to take a world he felt he was entitled too, and Cal was willing to work with Saw Guerra in order to hurt the Empire. And Bode is what he could turn into if he lets his attachments override his morals.

@@Conmon115 While it's true that he MIGHT have been willing to share the planet with Kestis and a couple of his mates and giving the Hidden Path access might have been the dealbreaker, it could've also just been an excuse. His love of Kata had become as unhealthily possessive as Anakin's love of Padme was, he even puts Kata in danger more than once while fighting Cal and Merrin.

I like how Bode is a great depiction of an oppressive parent. Bode wants that sense of control so bad, he would have hurt Kata if it means he could "preserve" her in the way he likes. For say, what if Kata wants to leave Tanalor after a few years of isolation? Bode would have done anything to keep her in. Even disable her in some manner, believing that is the best for her, when in reality he's only fulfilling his own sense of security.

But still sad that most Jedis in the game ended up in the dark side then died and others like Cere who died for the cause. It's not that simple.

Bode didn't seem like someone who succumbed to the dark side. He was just desperate to protect his daughter and didn't want to allow any unessary risk to go against that, hence why he didn't want the Hidden Path to use Tanalorr, the only planet that the Empire wouldn't be able to gain access to, as their new base of operations. Bode does get angry during his fights with Cal, but you don't become a sith just because of that. They have fully embrace that emtion to gain the powers of the darkside. I could be also wrong about this, but the hilt of the lightsaber Bode used looks to be the same as Dagan Gera lightsaber, so he might have nabed it from him after he was killed and just used that in his fights with Cal.
