I think Disney should leave Yoda's species and home world a mystery and not reveal what they are. That's the whole mysticism of Yoda. The fact that we don't know where he's from and what his species is called adds mystery and makes Yoda and Grogu more special.
@Fireyabyss420Ай бұрын
Even if Disney does try to make b.s lore for yoda's race it wont be cannon due to what George Lucas has said in the past. He will not make lore for yodas race, and any lore that is made via 3rd party is not cannon.
@pangaeawriter8766Ай бұрын
I like Yoda's species being a mystery. My only disappointment was KOTOR being de-canonized, because we lost another member of the species, Vandar Tokare. However, I doubt that Yoda knew of Grogu's survival. We've seen that Grogu lived in fear for many years. It is not unreasonable to theorize that he did his best to cut himself off from the Force, as Luke did on Ach-To. With nothing to sense, there's no way Yoda could have known Grogu lived. As for a prior relationship, why does there have to be? Just because they're the same species? Knowing Yoda, I doubt he would have treated Grogu any differently from every other padawan.
@garyfrombrooklynАй бұрын
If Grogu speaks in the Mandalorian movie, that theater is going to go crazy, especially if his first words are "This is the Way." As for the Yoda species being important to the founding of the Jedi Order, that would be awesome, like the Sith species' influence on the Sith Order. We will see and hope they do it right.

I know folks who were totally done with Disney-era Star Wars, and had stopped paying attention to anything newer than their Rebels DVDs, who then jumped back in solely because of the contagious Grogu-fever that swept fandom during Mando Season 1. I hope Disney realise how precious Yoda's species is to fans and never do anything to mess with the magic surrounding them.

Great video, well done. :) That being said, one of my biggest pet peeves in Star Wars for decades is the super common simultaneous assertion that Yoda's entire species is extremely force sensitive and that we know nothing about them and have only EVER seen three or four of them. So for all we know the Yodite(?) species could be, say, barely sentient fungal colonies that over decades can learn to form a humanoid shape and advanced collective intelligence and we have just seen some of the top examples of that colony, or a mass of force-sensitive spiders inhabiting the skin sack of a green Jawa, or an offshoot of some messed up Sith experiment a thousand years ago, or a really lost free house-elf. I'm not saying they ARE, I'm highlighting our ignorance of the species. Those we know of are exceptional individuals in their own right by any standard, and it's weird to think "well the whole species must be that strong." It feels like seeing one of the Harlem Globetrotters and being like "everyone from Harlem is extremely strong in the ball skills, though no one has ever been to, seen, or even knows if Harlem is a real place, they are clearly a much ballin' people". XD

In my personal telepathic scanning of the multiverse, in some realities, Yoda exiles to Dagobah in order to protect it’s “illuva-tar” there from Sith predation. But Vader does extract “illuva-tar” causing Yoda’s eventual death in “Return of the Jedi.” The illuva-tar is taken to Sidious, who uses his lightning power to turn the divine muck into four man-shaped “Adam Sith” who will use their powers to help enable the birth of the last Lord of the Sith, Michael Star-Warrior!

My suggestion to "The Mandalorian and Grogu" would be that they find clues to his homeplanet, and instead of working for the republic, they go looking for it. Perhaps they let a convict free so that he can show them the right way. That leads to them beeing hunted by the Republic, by remnants of the empire and by pirates too. In the end they find the planet, hidden behind dark clouds or a forcefield or in a subspace anomaly🖖. And Grogu speaks his first words when Din is leaving to fight Thrawn.

I like your idea that this species is created out of the force itself, I too have always had a similar theory since The Mandalorian. It's like a cyclical thing, each cycle has a Yoda-type being, who oversees it to its end. Then a new one is born. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Palpatine was aware of this, which is why he was so confident his plans would work. However, this theory doesn't explain Yaddle. So it's probably a load of rubbish. But that's the thing about mysteries, they keep you guessing and it's often always better than the truth which can be mundane.

@kevthepoetАй бұрын
No. No we did not. He just seemed to recognise the species but ET could clearly travel so maybe he met them elsewhere. Plus that was just a little joke with no explanation until Lucas put ET species in Attack of the Clones which retroactively canonised them being in the same universe. But the planet of the Yoda species has always been a mystery and to my limited knowledge the ET species also remains somewhat a mystery in both ET and Star Wars. I'd be interested to hear if any books canonised the ET species further.

What if Yoda had a dalliance with the Dark Side in his youth, much the way Anakin did. And perhaps Yoda even went so far as to kill his Master, in the Sith tradition. But unlike Anakin, he did not stay committed to the Dark Side and instantly regretted his actions. Would bring a whole new perspective to Yoda's understanding of the Dark Side and the Force. Remember, 900 years is a long time. I can't imagine that Yoda didn't dabble in the Dark Side, at least once, especially in his youth.
@zanebarrett23Ай бұрын
Everyone says they want to keep Yoda's species a mystery, but at the same time they lap up every little crumb of explanation there is. I for one, hate keeping things a mystery forever. I want to know the answer to everything and I am not ashamed of admitting it. Plus it feels like lazy writing. "I don't have an answer for this part of the story, so I'll just say it's a mystery". A mystery that is slowly revealed over time, drip by drip, is fun, but to simply say there will never be an answer, so don't bother to speculate, sucks.

I would like for them to eventually flesh this out in the Mandalorian Grogu movie or group of movies. When Grogu gets all of his memory back from the dark times, maybe that’ll trigger something in him that would lead the Mandalorian and him to their home planet. I will be willing to bet that their home planet is extremely Strong with the force and it’s probably in the unknown regions as far as Yoda’s master I would like to know the many masters Yoda had. Because if he ages like Grogu does it would take several masters to teach him. Because it seems like if Yoda is 10 years old, he acts like a one-year-old and so on and so forth in human evolution. His species evolved slower over time as far as from adolescence to adult. Maybe now after I said that that’s why Yoda is keeping his whole world secret because his species could be misconstrued non-sentient and killed off for sports. Who knows that I like for them to flush it out.
@thomaswakefield6889Ай бұрын
Grogu couldn't have been born at the same time as Anikin Skywalker. By the time of the Madalorian, Grogu's bounty marker was already 50 years old. This puts the marker just before the start of the Clone Wars, and since Grogu was already at the Jedi Temple before the war, that puts Grogu's age around 70-75 years of age. Anakin/Darth Vader died roughly around age 45, considering he was around 9/10 when the clones wars began and roughly around 23 when it ended.

IMHO it won’t bring me any value to know the species of Yoda. I think it’s hopefull Lucasfilm made the right choice to include the OG/EUmaster of Yoda. More in line with better stolen then badly imagined as a dutch proverb goes. There’s probably a better English one with the same meaning but I am not a native speaker. But you catch my drift. Wish they had chosen this path earlier, say by doing a more Zahn-like Thrawn and a real Sith-based series in line with the Plagues-novel. Oh no that would be serving your customers with what they’d wanted and not alienating them by calling them bigots or racists or mysochondrists. That’s a much more sensible way to run a company.
