Might be my favorite scene in the sequels. On the production side it's fantastic but it's the little details that sell it. The little "I can do this" in the beginning and the constant bickering gets you that feeling that they're out of their element. All the times the Falcon bumps as Rey tries to get a hang of its controls. And how every lever and button she uses is done so dramatically compared to Han or Lando who always seemed in control even when stress was high. It's those little things that humanize and show some more of the character. The Falcon _is_ like a hot rod spaceship, so makes sense that can do whatever you ask it to but you really have to "know" it.

Jakkuu chase is the best scene in the film IMO and probably one of the best in the whole sequel trilogy. Great action, great sound editing, the acting is actually good despite being a little quippy. Did a great job showing what the falcon was still capable of. And even managed to utilise good character writing: Rey is rusty behind the wheel as a pilot (keeps hitting things) but as the scavenger she has the home advantage and knows the wreckages inside out. Fynn is the turncoat stromtrooper, and not only calls out tactics to stay low but doesnt hesitate in taking out his former comrades.

A lot of people hate on Rey knowing how to fly the Millennium Falcon just like that. But I actually like her reactions in the cockpit. You can tell she is having a hard time flying the spaceship. Pressing the buttons and levers, how hard it is to fly without a co-pilot, and my favorite is here, 3:01, where she makes a hard left to avoid the ship. I never got that feeling when Han or Lando flew the Falcon.
@ryanodonovan9497 Жыл бұрын
Those who hate that Rey does things they say she shouldn't be able to do are just biased, hypocritical morons - plain and simple, like most Star Wars fanchildren. They complain about bad writing, yet come out with nonsense that's even worse, even if their criticisms are valid. In the case of Rey, they only say that she shouldn't be able to do certain things because they haven't seen how she's been able to do it, except that not seeing something develop prior doesn't automatically rule it out as some impossibility. These idiots act like she's perfect and is unrealistically more powerful than anyone, even though she's clearly not, and expect things to be explained to them to where the films hold their hands like the pathetic children they are mentally.
@grizzly_manbanimation843619 күн бұрын
@@ryanodonovan9497 yeah and this scene was meant to show how good of a pilot she was. Say what you will about the sequel trilogy, it was the first time I ever really GOT why TIE Fighters are meant to be a threat. It doesn't sell well with the effects of the late 70s-80s, but TFA really nailed the idea that a TIE's selling point is its speed, and the ability to turn on a dime, and that even an X-Wing would have trouble with them, especially in numbers. Took Luke 1.5 films just to wiggle a light saber. Politics aside.. When everything comes easy, when there's nothing at stake, the audience fails to care.. As I did.
