It's fucking mediocre by default, and then you pile countless bugs on top of it, it looks like SHIT and this is in comparison to OTHER current Ubisoft games not even their peak it's still subpar, the story is shit, the characters are trash, the gameplay is so by the numbers every time I see it I expect a child to come along with a crayon. You're stuck with one gun the whole game, you've only got one vehicle the whole game, the locations are extremely bland and empty, a substantial amount of the game forces you into stealth segments, the game is NOT built for stealth, the stealth that's there doesn't work, this is a game about being a criminal and planning a heist and they've decided to just not build the game around cool heist jobs to buildup for the big heist but instead the most generic open world third person shooter I've ever seen, to the point you'd be excused for not knowing it's supposed to be Star Wars. Speaking of the shooting, it sucks, there's no impact to the shots, again there's really just one gun you can actually use consistently, the sound and visual design is very bland, the enemy variety is basically nothing, the bugs, oh god, the bugs, yes it counts twice there's that many. This kind of game is by default going to be put up against games like the Jedi games and Cyberpunk 2077. The Jedi games have a much more engaging main character, better and more memorable side characters, actual plotlines, gorgeous world design, and a combat system that has both flair and depth to it, to the point my biggest complaint for the first game was there wasn't a mode where I just fought massive waves of enemies cause the combat was so fluid and fun. Cyberpunk has EVERYTHING over this game, literally every single thing. Everything from shooting to stealth to melee to hacking is better in Cyberpunk, the characters are all better, there's a ton of cool cars you can get and swap between at your leisure, there's tons of weapon choice, loadout customization, different builds you can make, a variety of endings, memorable side missions, a top notch main story, and the devs actually give a shit about the GAME, not scoring DEI points. Are there objectively WORSE games than this? Sure. But that doesn't give this game a pass. It's still fucking terrible, and it's coming from UBISOFT. They force you into stealth over and over, but the stealth in this game doesn't even reach Assassin's Creed's stealth system, AND THIS COMPANY MADE SPLINTER CELL! You don't make something BETTER by saying there's something worse, that's what idiots do. They shit on something to make something else look good by comparison. It doesn't work that way, that's called a SCAM.

The knockout animation drives me nuts. My boy Agent 47 can't instantly knock someone out unless he has a blunt weapon to hit them with, otherwise you have to do a slow and dangerous choke-hold animation. If one of the most lethal men in video games can't just bop someone on the head barehanded, I'm not gonna believe that this willowy chick can. Also, the animation just has NO impact whatsoever. When I play Hitman and clock somebody in the head, sometimes it makes me actually winch at the sound it makes. I used to stream the Batman Arkham games for my friends and every other time some thug's head hit concrete you'd hear a collective "Ohhhh, daaamn." You gotta sell the impact and make the player feel powerful. This is just a limp-wristed backhand slap.

The gym teacher is an idiot. The physics might make it HURT more potentially, but here’s thing: the actual damage would be less because the whole point of that helmet is to absorb impacts. Any hit whatsoever would be less effective. You might end up in more pain from wearing a helmet than if you weren’t. I was seven years old when the original Star Wars movie came out in 1977. I was more or less the perfect age for it and it captured my imagination like no movie ever has - even though Alien just two years later came very close. My dad took me to see it in June of that year and we stood outside the main door in a line that seemed to be a mile long in 90+ degree heat, and it was worth every minute of that. I had no idea at that time that as time went on that the Star Wars Universe would be trashed like it has and that I would come to hate the new stuff.

I think the problem with modern games are trying to cater to the casual player too much. Look at modern Tom Clancy games, all these older games like Vegas and Vegas 2 and the original splinter cell games were specific genres for a niche audience. Siege, Blacklist and Breakpoint feel very arcady compared to the older games like Vegas, Chaos theory and GRAW. Baldur's gate 3 is a perfect example of a lesser known developer targeting a specific game style and niche audience and having made the game so well it spilled into other audiences and made it highly popular and successful.

I just watched an in deapth video review and to my surprise the game is much different that what I expected and feared from Ubisoft. The typical open world design with lots of busy work is gone. What a relief. There is story, there is character development, there doesn't seem to be a forced agenda. The characters are also able to show some emotions. I almost forgot what that is after sitting through Acolyte. Moreover I gotta say that I really like the world building Ubisoft did with this game. It feels rewarding exploring the game based on what I have seen. Look at the scenery or the towns and tell me that the level design is not pulling you into the Star Wars universe. Aside from that the gameplay itself is a bit basic with nothing to write home about. The space ship gameplay isnt too great either, but overall it is still a good mix of things that work out fine without ever making you feel bored. So this came out of nowhere to me. I expected the game to be a mess, but Ubisoft actually managed to address a lot of the problems that I had with their previous games and thanks to the lackluster Disney Star Wars content I will give this game a fair chance.
