I would love your thoughts on this question: Do you think it is possible that the final scene in Clone Wars season 7, where Vader finds the wrecked ship covered in snow, is AFTER this episode right here. I think it is. I think after this Vader becomes obsessed with trying to figure out how Ahsoka survived and tracks it down. Anyway just wondering what you guys thought about that. Love the reactions.

Fun lore fact that could play into Ashoka belief that it can't be anakin. According to imperial records Anakin Skywalker was killed at the Jedi Temple. This also shows palpatine's messed up sense of humor. I've always felt Disney respected Vader better than a lot of the old Expanded Universe stuff did, who saw Vader as a cheap way to make new or existing characters seem badass. Like "woah this guy's cool, look at them fight Vader as an equal" or "check out this new character in Force Unleashed he can wreck Vader... somehow". With Disney in charge you really get the sense that anyone without the surname "Skywalker" might as well not even try to face Vader, he's unstoppable. Rebels, Fallen Order, Rogue One. Disney understands Vader.

I find funny that a lot of the stuff “fans” hate about the Star Wars sequels is things Disney brought over from the EU. I’m just over her thinking, well y’all wanted this. Like Palpatine returning via cloning is straight up a storyline from the old Star Wars comics.

@Wolf61193 жыл бұрын
That's a REALLY interesting question about whether Palpatine also feels fear, as a Sith. Personally I think he does, but I think it's important to realize that the "fear" which the Sith feel is usually not like being spooked "Oh fuck, what was that noise?" or whatever. It's more like an anxiety or an insecurity, this constant existential fear for one's continued existence that feeds into their desire to do ANYTHING for the sake of self-preservation and self-empowerment. It's not really a fear they allow themselves to FEEL actively most of the time, but it's something that's always there at the core, gnawing away at them 24/7. In Vader's case, I think a deep part of him fears what he's become, fears what he's lost, and fears to think about what his purpose in life even is now - all of which he uses to fuel his bitterness in hatred.

Being the greatest Sith in history, Darth Sidious is the most adept at turning fear into a weapon for him, whether in himself or others. You say tunnel vision but honestly that's Vader's default setting. The moment he finds out Ahsoka is alive he immediately gives up on the rest of the rebels to focus on capturing her with all the assets he has available. Exactly like Empire Strikes Back where he chases one ship he thinks is carrying his son with an entire fleet of Star Destroyers to the point of forcing the fleet to fly into a dense asteroid field to chase it despite casualties until the message from Palpatine forced him out to get a clear message.

Palpatine does have fears. His main fears are losing his power and dying. Everything he does is to gain and keep power and to try to avoid death. His long term objective is to create a Rule of One where he is an immortal all powerful Sith Emperor that rules the galaxy forever.

He mentions Palpatine specifically, saying that he does fear, and therefore he seeks the security of power, which he uses his power to make others fearful of him. With the Kenobi series coming up, this episode is interesting. We know Kenobi will be set before this season of Rebels (Kenobi is 9 BBY and S2 is 4-3 BBY) and we have Vader here wondering if Ahsoka could lead them to Kenobi, with Palpatine saying "If he lives." People speculate that when Vader and Kenobi fight in the series, Kenobi will fake his death. But Vader can't fully believe he is dead if they want to maintain continuity. There has to be some question with Vader and Palpatine as to his fate. Retroactively, they will be thinking of whatever happens in the Kenobi show in this scene and not just the end of ROTS where Kenobi disappears into hiding.
