One of the big things that i love about Rebels is their use of Ralph McQuarries original art and designs from the original trilogy. He practically designed the Star Wars universe singlehanded and Rebels really make great use of alot of his concept arts that didnt make it in to the film. The spiders in this episode is a great example of bringing in his original work. Zeb's species Lasat for example was originally the first design for Chewbacca. Practically all of Lothal and its capital is based on Ralph McQuarries designs for Aldeeran. Even the thinner lightsaber design is inspired by his early work.

Back when the people making Star Wars actually knew about Star Wars.

@@fakecubed Well, thats not true. People who made star wars allwys knew and still know star wars.Dave Filoni made big parts of the Best star wars shows, Gareth Edwars (Rogue one) and Tony Gilroy (Rogue one and Andor) didn't know that much about star wars but are great film makers and were surrounded by people knowing enough. Rian Johnson knows absolutly best about George Lukas inspirations and stayed close to that. The only one who maybe knew enough but definitely made the worst decisions and knew the least about good star wars storytelling was JJ Abrams. Till today most star wars designs are inspired by Ralph McQuarri and the early inpirations for star wars: WW2 weapons, dogfights, Luka's childhood TV shows, famous WW2 films (12'o clock high, dammbusters etc.). Production design in star wars and storytelling are till today top notch.

Kanan has some real blind spots when it comes to interacting with others. From thinking he's not good enough to train Ezra, to Hera's feelings, it's like he just flat out cannot truly see those around him. But like many other characters he overcomes it through loss and suffering. In a lot of ways it's the damage from his own past. The episode where he faces off against the temple guards is just the start of his journey to truly moving past his trauma. That's one of the things I love about Rebels, the continual growth of the characters and the multiple redemption arcs. Feloni's version of the Jedi are more like Grey Wardens. In peace vigilance. In war victory. In death sacrifice. And yes, I can hear the groans from those who know what's coming... Hey, at least I didn't start muttering under my breath about once having a real name... Right Jabba?

@@jamesrsmith8558 Didn't they first show up in that Ahsoka episode of The Clone Wars when she was captured and put on a hunting preserve with a bunch of other Jedi younglings? Either way, they definitely seem to always have a connection to Ahsoka.

@@fakecubed I don't know about that, I would have to rewatch the Clone Wars episode to tell for certain, there may well have been birds that looked similar. However in this case, this is a very specific bird coming from one of the most important moments from one of the most Lore inspiring arcs in star wars. If it was Vader, it would have been a Bat.

@@jamesrsmith8558 I looked it up. First appearance of the birds was in that other prior Ahsoka episode I mentioned. Of course that doesn’t really mean anything other than they reused an existing asset when they later did the Mortis arc, at which point the bird became associated with her in a more obvious way.
