Rogue One actually did very well at the box office. It grossed over a billion dollars. It was a more mature story really meant for the original 1977 audience. In other words, it was Star Wars grown up. Andor is the spinoff TV series that recounts Cassian Andor’s journey to the Rebel Alliance. As with Rogue One, it is a more nuanced treatment of the Star Wars universe. Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian. It is IMO, just great television, period. The Imperial droid K2SO is voiced by Alan Tudyk. He famously played Hoban "Wash" Washburne, the pilot of the Serenity on the 2002 SF series, Firefly, as well as the robot, Sonny, in I, Robot (2004) opposite Will Smith. He is a frequent voice actor for Disney animations.

You are correct, the Andor series is set before this movie in the timeline. Which you can guess from the fact that everyone dies here. The fans so loved Diego Luna’s performance here, they signed him up to do two seasons. Which is basically Andor’s journey from being a halfway decent criminal to being the James Bond of Star Wars. But, if it makes you feel better, even if they hadn’t died in individual moments of heroism, the Death Star blows up that whole area. So, they’d have died anyway. The voice actor for K-2S0 is Alan Tudyk. He is well known in niche nerd projects. Sadly, not well known outside of that space. The Firefly TV show, and accompanying movie Serenity. He voiced the robot in the Will Smith movie “I, Robot”. He was the main bad guy (or good guy?) in the show Dollhouse… which was mostly stuff the character did off-screen, so he has very little screen time.

I rate this as the best SW movie of the Disney era and its top 3 for me with Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. You can tell there was a lot of love that went into it and it really integrates well into EPIV which is literally start just hours after this one. They've found a lot of unused footage from EPIV and they used the voicelines of the pilots, Red 5 dies here so that position is empty for Luke to take it. Lots of nods to other Star Wars stuff like the inclusion of the Ghost dropping out of Hyperspace ( SW: Rebels ), that Hammerhead corvette was from a game made by Bioware ( Kinights of the Old Republic ), little things like that goes a long way to make fans happy and show that they care about it. I thought the cast was great and I like the story. When I was watching it in the cinemas and realizing where is this headed I was really crossing fingers and hoping that they had the balls to do it and kill everyone. Thankfully they did. It's not that I wanted them to die but it has such an impact and defines the Rebellion so well...bunch of everyday people trying to fight the Empire to free others from oppression. It's done really well and did a great job expanding on a single line from the text crawl of EPIV lol. It's not a perfect movie but its a really good one and by far the best of the Disney Era. Highly recommend watching Andor, it's really good and similar in tone but very high production value, great writing and superb acting.

In Return of the Jedi, during the battle at Endor (with the Ewoks at our sides), we saw the smaller AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport) vehicles. Chewie commandeered one. The battle at Scarif we see here and the battle on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back both feature AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) vehicles. They can carry far more stormtroopers, equipment, etc, and have better armor than the smaller scout vehicles.

If you want to grasp what 'In a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away" means watch the fan film Star Wars Origins... It's a very nice tribute. Much like the Empire, the Germans planned total anihilation of revolting people... They planned to burn cities to the ground, like Paris and others... planted bombs everywhere on the monuments and bridges. Paris Governor, how ever disobeyed Furher's orders to destroy Paris because he has studies there when he was young. It's all about terror and vengeance. Kyber Crystals are amplifyers, not fuel for the weapon or lightsabers. Single Reactor Ignition means the Death Star laser is at minimum power output, still worth thousands of thermonuclear bombs but not enough to destroy a planet. Mon Mothma's actress is different but she reprises the role in this movie and in Ashoka as voice actress in Rebels as well.

You might notice the X-Wings don't do any maneuvers that would be inconsistent with the OG Star Wars ( I was 9 when it came out, it's Star Wars too me not New Hope). Imagine how satisfying it would've been if this movie started with a Jedi Mads Mikkelsen. He is standing like he's about to draw his lightsaber. The Force Unleashed main character is even called Galen like Jyn's dad, so the scene was definitely a reference to it. That's the only videogame George Lucas ever produced and personally approved story and characters for. It's not part of the Disney universe and it was not part of the George Lucas universe "officially" either, but it's a big part of the Star Wars history and the best possible bridge between trilogies if it was ever adapted into a TV series or film (outside of videogame elements).

Are you in Britain Abby Jane, or Australia? I'm not quite sure about the accent. Very beautiful regardless! Here in California -- "San Jose", which is the largest city in "Silicon Valley", the southern shore of the The San Francisco Bay -- it is 24 celsius currently, at 1701. On Friday the 18th it is supposed to be 29, and on Tuesday the 22nd it is supposed to be 30. But this is normal for California, it will be hot until mid November. We're about 80% solar power right now since the sun is still up, so no environmental guilt about the AC. 🙂 San Francisco is colder, currently 15, and 25 on Friday, because they get the seabreeze from the Pacific. Down here, 56 miles (90 km) south, the Pacific winds are blocked by the Santa Cruz Mountains. We still get the seabreeze from San Francisco Bay, though, which cools us off at night; it will get down to 16 degrees overnight. We have world class public transit in the San Francisco Bay Area, so there are two train systems that take you to San Francisco from here in about one hour, same speed as driving, or much faster if there is traffic on the highway lol. Did you know they made the original Star Wars trilogy into a radio show? It was on the equivalent of the BBC here in the USA, which is called National Public Radio or NPR. The radio version of Return of the Jedi came out in November 1996, a few months after I graduated high school, and they played all three at that time, so that was good! Hi Abby! I loved the reaction. I hope this isn’t too much for you but here’s some information for you! 4:37 Not really. Saying “Trust the Force” or “May the Force be with you” does not mean they have force abilities or that they’re Jedi all the time. Think of it as a religion, for example, when people say “May God be with you/May the Lord be with you”. There are those in the galaxy that do believe in The Force and those who do not. 4:24 There are numerous variants of stormtroopers (snow-troopers, sand-troopers, Sith troopers, shock-troopers, etc). The different colors represent different sub-units. I seen someone explain the Shore-troopers in the comments so.. The stormtroopers in black are Death Troopers (one of my personal favorites), also known as Death Soldiers. They specialize in stealth, espionage, and lethality so essentially they were Elite soldiers. They also acted as protective details for Imperial Officers. Their helmets are also equipped with voice scramblers (which is why when they spoke it sounded ‘gargled’ I guess I can say?) which made their communications impossible for anyone except another death trooper to understand, along with adding to their intimidating appearance. 6:11 You are correct, there were people that agreed with The Empire and those that didn’t. Even Star Wars fans debate what government/political/military factions are right or wrong. Personally, I believe it comes down to an individual’s perception on which faction you would align yourself with, everything isn’t so black and white in the Star Wars universe. There’s a lot complexities with the different characters, factions, cultures, etc. (Saw Gerrera is one good example). Those who didn’t agree with the Empire either defected, were arrested or tortured (or both), were executed, or collaborated with The Empire to avoid suspicion which was not always the case due to the fact that they could still be purged if they were found as useless. 6:35 There’s Legends explanation and Canon explanation behind the Death Star but I’ll stick to Canon. If I’m not mistaken, basic concept of the Death Star and plans was actually designed by the Geonosians. They designed it for The Separatists to help in the fight against The Republic but in reality, they were working for Palpatine (who practically orchestrated The Clone Wars as we all know). The Republic took over in secret and used the Geonosians as Labor. After Order 66 and the Empire being established, Krennic became director and Galen was in charge of translating the Geonosian designs into plan. 12:22 Saw Gerrera is a complex character. He witnessed a lot of trauma throughout his life especially in the Clone Wars. Losing family and friends, which shaped his view and made him wary of trusting others. He also lost allies as well. He was one of the early Rebel Alliance figures leading the fight against The Empire. The reason he lost support and allies was due to his radical and extreme fighting tactics he would use against The Empire, causing him to isolate from Rebel leadership and anyone who disagreed with his tactics was a potential threat. There’s more than likely more reasons out there, war can and will change an individual.

You should definitely watch the Clone Wars series. Even if you don't upload it, you should definitely watch it on your own time; you will enjoy it.

This may be surprising to learn Abby, but people don't watch to look behind you at your background. They are watching you and the movie. 😂

It's not really lack of plot armor that got them all. It's that there was no way to change the fact that in episode IV they made it clear that everyone who got the plans to them died in the process.

You're gonna love the Sequel Trilogy. Don't listen to the haters who tell others not to watch something. They have their issues, but most of it is from 40 plus years of baggage they can't unpack. Star Wars' biggest lesson for all of us is to take our arrogance and shove it deep up our ignorant asses. Some people haven't learned that lesson yet.

The problem with the sequels or Disney is, they change some well known facts and kinda try to make it a bit new. Most people don’t approve of new, like me. But still they are not bad - just not what I love about Star Wars as a genre - if you see the movies alone without being a big Star Wars fan, they are actually good

This film did well at the box office but Solo was released 2 years later and loss $ so that basically ended these solo films from continuing. Kathleen Kennedy, Lucas' chosen successor to be president of Lucasfilm and basically new person in charge of star wars basically got scared from how poorly Solo did to try again. Ep 7,8,9 all made lots of $ so it seems Kathleen Kennedy took the failure of Solo's box office as a sign that fans didn't want anymore of these "A Star Wars Story" films.

The one point that made this a good movie is that everyone is no main characters. They all just nobodies, people will be quickly forgotten and not remembered, just like what will happen in actual war.

Krennic should have known better than to be so rude. He's fortunate he didn't end up as a dish at one of the engineering teams dinner parties

To be fair to him, working for the Empire is not the best job. Your boss might force choke you, you might have your boss steal all the credit for your work, and the workplace injuries involved with the death star is terrible. Luke got so lucky never joining, he was better off as a moisture farmer than deal with the Empire's toxic workplace.

The Sith lightsabers are red because the crustals inside are red in color. It's symbolism. No bleeding, no other sh*t, all that came with the Disney cr*p.
