Let's be real, Interceptors were not significantly better at their roles than standard Fighters, and likely cost twice as much while needing more specialized training. Unless the pilots were truly exceptional (by Imperial/FO) standards, it was simply cheaper and more efficient just to throw endless waves of Fighters at things. Realistically, the movie peeps likely decided against it.

Little tip: you can use cockpit view in a tie fighter and the built in targeting computer won't count against your score because you aren't technically activating it since it's always activated in the cockpit.

Too bad this game can't be run in an emulator, it runs like potato on every emulator I've tried and I have a high-end system that can play most games at 60fps Ultra settings. This is truly a series that deserves a remaster and maybe a reskin for higher quality textures. Although let's be honest, it would be great to have a Rogue Squadron IV with modern graphics that can run on modern systems.

Personally, if I were part of Rebel High Command, my first thought would be capturing this particular Super Star Destroyer, or at least the cloaking technology it used. Destroying it just seems like a colossal waste. Besides, the New Republic ended up using captured Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers in their fleet after Endor.

If it's any consolation, the Rebel High Command HAD considered it in the past... and promptly discarded the idea because they wouldn't have the personnel to actually man the damn thing. And automating the systems would be a massive retrofit they don't have the resources or time for.

Star Dreadnoughts would be massive bait for the Imperials to attempt to find/recapture. They did a lot of work to try to get captured interdicotrs captured before endor

Remember, this is pre-Endor; the Rebel Alliance isn't an organized government or anything yet, and is actually still at something of a low ebb from huge losses at Hoth. It wasn't until they formed the New Republic that they could get the infrastructure or personnel to support a proper navy, let alone a ship as big as a Super Star Destroyer. _Executor_ all by itself has almost twice as many _gunners_ as a Nebulon-B frigate's entire crew complement, let alone its 280,000 crew. An SSD would have also been virtually impossible to hide, and far too unmaneuverable for the hit-and-run tactics the Rebels are still using at this point. Even if they'd managed to get the thing moving, it would have immediately drawn Vader and his actually staffed and outfitted fleet to chase them down constantly.

It would take way too many men to capture this thing, and the Rebellion doesn't have that many soldiers to waste on a single mission that could go haywire if the Imps decide to self-destruct the ship anyways. Also, the Emperor laid this all out as a prank for the Rebellion, so there's no way in hell he'd let a dreadnought of that size and power fall into the Rebellion's hands.
