One thing that was not on my bingo card for this show was genuinely great representation for people with disabilities. That line about Fern not understanding that KB can’t do certain things hits hard and is very relatable.
@GedUK16 күн бұрын
But also that Fern is *trying* to be supportive by constantly saying 'you can do it/do anything!', without actually realising that no, KB (and Neel) can't.
@c.lvr260216 күн бұрын
@@GedUK It's why I have an issue with the term "differently abled" because it's just not true. My best friend was disabled (he died last year), he wasn't "differently abled" because that implies he can do things that able bodied people can't. He couldn't walk, near the end of his life he couldn't even talk or breathe without a respirator. True representation is like this episode - being honest that people with disabilities just CAN'T do certain things.

The Onyx Cinder shedding it’s hull to reveal its true appearance Is one of the more awe-inspiring sequences in any of the Disney-era Star Wars projects, up there with the Eye of Aldahni and Fondor escapes from Andor and the Holdo maneuver from TLJ.

Somebody give Bryce a full series to do please. Of all of the directors she's the one who consistently nails the tone and feel of a 'Star Wars' adventure with the actors and their performances. Her shot selection, scene set up, and 'eye' is just pitch perfect every time she gets in the chair.

I was mulling over KB's accident for awhile. Whatever it was probably resulted in a hard impact to the back of her head that probably destroyed her cerebellum and oxcipial lobe at the least. One responsible for movement, one for visual processing, and both in the back of the human head. Her augs likely serve a dual purpose of communicating between her brain and her spine, and help her with visual recognition...which does kinda make me wonder what she sees when the visor is up as opposed to down. I'm wondering too if the accident involved speeder bike racing, which she and Fern both seem to be in to.

I'd say she meet fern after the accident because she says zero friends again, implying she didn't have any friends after the accident

I'm loving how consistent the set-up --> payoff is with this series. Wim's failure with the lightsaber but then being called a Jedi when he saves someone, KB having issues foreshadowed earlier, the kids each knowing how to get the ship to take off and fight after each had earlier experiences working different systems, Rennod mentioning the ship class in armor and then the hull demolition sequencer jettisoning the armor and extra weapons and engines. This show is so good. The tropes and themes are all there but it's all executed so well. I just love it!

That crab IS stop-motion (and they seem to be using that a lot, along with other practical effects and things like matte paintings, just like in the OT). And not just that, it was done by Phil Tippett, who has been with Lucas and ILM since the Original Trilogy. He also did, amongst other things, the tauntauns and AT-ATs in Ep5 and he won an Oscar for his work on Ep6.

I just checked again to be completely sure and that is the exact ship, nice easter egg if you ask me. 18:40ish Dude... that's Jod aka Silvo's original crew, Brutus mutinied because everyone was pissed they weren't getting paid and so they went along with it. I don't think there's a whole lot of deep loyalty going on here, and clearly there's a reason Silvo was captain in the first place right? 20:10 Ok I have to. Tak Rennod specifically said the ship got additional armor ahead of the expedition to At Attin in the hologram from the last episode. We didn't exactly know what that meant until this one of course.

Speaking of "Checkov's Button", Remember the button on the bridge that SM33 said "Never EVER touch that"? The "Emergency hull demolition sequencer" is NOT some self destruct but an explosive hull armor purge🤘😎👍 I guaranteed that under all the extra armoring is a much sleeker pirate raider! Active Armor Ablative Skin! False Hull Ejection! Called it! Another Legends callback revisited. Huzzah. Just like we see the true face of the Onyx Cinder, we see the true face of KB and her reliance on the Augs that keep her alive. There is value in both approaches to acknowledging her condition... both to be aware of the factual limitations and valid concerns as well as to allow for the ability to be treated "normally". KB may be introverted (especially compared to Fern) but she is no fragile wilting flower either. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be accepted and not treated differently, just as there is nothing wrong with understanding and being willing to confront the things that differentiate us. Everybody has baggage, and not everyone is equipped with convenient rollers.🥺👌 Uh, yeah. If the people of At Attin have been isolated since the Old Republic (or even the High Republic) they would not know Xwings. The closest thing they could be familliar with would be the Z95 Headhunters that were in use by planetary defense and raider fleets alike for centuries before the fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire... so generally non-denominational. 🤔

The only thing that I don't actually like in this show is Brutus' voice. They did a terrible job at making it seem like it actually comes out of that character. The whole scene where he drags Jod and makes him look out the airlock window the audio for his voice is terrible. Sounds like it's just coming from everywhere instead of actually where that character is.
