It was so long ago, it's really irrelevant at this point. If they decide to do a pirate series set in the High Republic, they can cast Rennod and not have to worry about him being a different guy. It was like the way we got a glimpse of Thanos many years before Josh Brolin got the part

They've done such a great job with these characters & fleshing them out as people we can care about & invest in that when the totally predictable happened with Jod\Jude Law betraying the kids still turned out to be an emotional gut punch because you knew it was only not terrifying to these kids but broke their hearts. Where I think character development comes into play, I'm sure Jod's original plan was probably to kill the kids after he got the information he needed but since getting to know them simply had SM-33 hold them prisoner. That's just my guess, nothing the show actually said lol.

Did no one notice that Tak Rennod's holo was so distorted that you couldn't really make him out and he sounded *_SO MUCH_* like SM-33. Maybe lost somewhere in SM-33 memory circuits is the fact that SM-33 is actually Captain Tak Rennod of the Onyx Cinder.

For now, I think him being a former Youngling works best in my opinion: 1. He obviously has not that much force-power yet. Mostly, he moves objects and not much more, which is basically one of the first things a Youngling might learn 2. He has a VERY BASIC understanding of the old Jedi-Code, something that honestly sounds like how Younglings (or in other words very young kids) would be taught about this code and often he fumbles his way through the Jedi-Code rather than being precise. Seems to me like he obviously learned it a long time ago, but maybe also didn't have enough time in the Jedi Order to fully learn that "Jedi-Code" yet 3. We obviously have seen through Grogu that there were Younglings that were saved during the purge 4. He either doesn't want a lightsaber or has no knowledge of how to build one since even after the empire fell, he never tried constructing one (even if it would be possible to use one again without being hunted down). But could be true for a Youngling: He didn't have much Lightsaber training yet so it could be that it is simply not the best weapon for him OR he would want a Lightsaber but can't build it himself since you only learn how to build a lightsaber once you transition into being a Padawan I also think it would be really interesting to have a Youngling-Survivor in the Mando-Timeline aside from Grogu (or in other words a Youngling who can speak and is a fully developed adult now)

Timeline wise the Jedi purge happened about 30ish years before Skeleton Crew. Jude Law's 51 irl, so he'd be too old to have been a youngling, assuming Jod's the same age as him. But you could easily make him 10 years younger to have it make sense to have been a younglinh during order 66. I think it'd actually be quite cool to see him wield that lightsaber later on and have him be quite unskilled with it, making just general slashes and lunges, showing he never actually learned to wield one at the temple.

He could have been a Palawan or Jedi learner but I don't think he completed the trials and was a full fledged knight.

It would be possible. He could also be a random nobody because people overlook that there was an age issue about allowing Anakin into the Jedi. It means there are several other force sensitive people around the galaxy that were never inducted. It is highly possible the Outer Rim types, particularly where there were less Republic and Empire presence, would be more likely to survive undetected or be among groups/gangs that were more trouble than it was worth to hunt down. A pirate life is probably all that saved this overlooked force sensitive kid from being purged.

Seems odd to be such a through and through pirate if he had made it to Jedi level though, but I guess there are worse who outright fall to the dark side.

Come on John, if you lived in Ontario Canada years ago you must have watched Elwy Yost's Saturday Night at The movies. The pirate movies were shown. But we all have Disney Plus and must have watched Treasure Island and Return to Treasure Island by now. Heck, even the robot sports the fake Cornish accent Robert Newton popularized. Yeah, The Goonies has a bit in it as well, so the writers are taking from a lot of sources. Its well made if nothing else. The unseen to this point supervisor has got to be the missing Captain. Seems pretty obvious to me...

The show is great, but I wish they would make the kids more cooperative to Jod or whatever his name is (Jude Law). Despite all of the help he's given them, in every episode Fern disrespects him and doubts whether they should listen to him. Like, what other choice do you have? Who cares if he is a pirate, when he gets you to AT-Atin he can't defeat the whole planet. I'm glad he gets 33 to follow him as captain because Fern was getting annoying.

Viewership wise, it sucks Disney has an unintentional habit of releasing their better star wars shows after the worse ones. The Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi disappointed many fans, which then sucks that Andor had a lower viewership when it has been praised by so many who watched it as the best star wars since 1980. Then you have Skeleton Crew which has surprised its viewers with being a fun charming space adventure, but it's barely being watched by anyone because it's predecessor, The Acoltye, is the mostly polarising project since The Last Jedi.
