“I know the decision to join the dark side wasn’t yours.” Maul is so far gone he doesn’t even want to consider it. He’s survived off hate and rage for years and he’s completely given into the dark side. Interesting enough, at least comic wise, Maul probably would’ve listened to that during or pre sidious training earlier in his life.

After everything Sidious has done to him, the dark side is all he has, kind of like with Anakin. They’re all just victims to Palpatines manipulation. Nevertheless, the last person Maul wants to be redeemed by is Obi Wan Kenobi, who, in his mind, took everything from him.

it makes me wonder how the sequels would have originally played out. as we know Maul and his syndicate would have been the primary focus (and possibly the son of mortis). and everything lucas did has been leading to this reevauation of the force and dark vs light. Going back to the idea of balance, and finding this true balance. IE accepting both, instead of just each side rejecting the other. redemption for maul, maybe?

Also don't forget with Mace Windu, that Mace knew Vaapad. It's argueable whether he was fully on Sidious' level or not, but I think it at least put's him almost there for their duel. As for Yoda vs Sidious, Yoda technically lost that duel.

Truly...one of the crowning achievements of this show. This show (and all the material that followed it) truly made Maul one of my favourite characters. Also: Obi Wan truly did lose everything in his life and unlike Anakin - he remained a true Jedi. He truly is a Knight of the Order.

I feel so bad for Obi-Wan. Maul already took his master, and now the love of his life. I kinda blame Bo-Katan for all of this. I know she didn’t want her sister to die, but humiliated and destroyed her dream. Sidious coming in and fighting Maul and Savage was amazing, he fights like an angry buzzsaw. And it shows that Sidious is not just watching the Jedi closely, but also dark-siders who could challenge him. This also makes me think of Taron Malicos from Fallen Order, and how he was trying to build an order of Dark Jedi with Nightsister power. If he really did that, you know Sidious would come to shut that shit down.

I'm going to be honest but I did find that element to be very shoehorned cause in the earlier episodes and her debut (A Friend in Need) Bo-Katan was literally against her own sister and wants to overthrow her and later kill her afterwards. On top of that, it just literally happened out of the blue, their was no tease, no hints, nothing and it kind of makes you wonder if Maul lost to Pre Vizsla and he kills Satine would Bo-Katan show any remorse?

@Nick Fletcher. Yeah but at the end of "Eminence", Vizsla tells her that once they reclaim Mandalore they would Kill Maul and Savage alongside Duchess Satine. He said so himself in the episode don't believe me this is what he said: Vizsla: _"Stay focused. Mandalore will soon be ours, and Maul and his brother will be dead alongside the duchess."_ So they did have plans on killing Satine off at some point after imprisoning her.

You cut my favorite Obi-Wan line. "You can kill me, but you will never destroy me. It takes strength to resist the Dark Side. Only the weak embrace it." I like it even better than "You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." Plus that strong Obi-Wan moment just packed more of a punch when Satine died. Of course she loved him. No one else could possibly live up to her ideals. She was *too* good to survive the rise of the dark side and the Empire.

Maul really did everything he could to turn Obi Wan to the dark side. He killed his master, used that to taunt him during their first meeting during the war and he killed Satine right in front of him by stabbing her in the gut. Obi Wan is a true Jedi for enduring not only all this but also the whole thing with his best friend and brother falling to the dark side and killing everyone else he cares about.

Fun fact: this isn’t the first a character played by Ewan McGregor had a love Interest named Satine(watch a film called Moulin Rouge!). It's pretty weird, I'll give you that."

This episode really stuck with me as a kid, especially when Darth Sidious came; I truly feared him after this episode. How powerful Savage and Maul were and how much they managed to built themselves up and their empire, and then Sidious came and nearly toppled it all down. I really had the sense that there is evil, and then there's a greater evil.

I love that moment where Obi Wan tries to empathise with Maul by pointing out he didn't really choose the dark side. It's a cool moment but also makes the audience realise something they might never have considered about Maul. And it also might make you sympathise with him before Savage is killed and you see for a split moment that it does affect Maul, he seems sad before he glares at Sidious and goes on the attack. As a Darth Maul fan I hated seeing him get schooled like that but this episode was also really great for his character.

Eric makes the comment of “Imagine Anakin if Padmé was slaughtered in front of him.” I’m pretty sure Anakin would just fucking explode. Like full on Starkiller Force Repulse, like in the cinematic trailer when he had those storm troopers, saw Vader, did the repulse, and all of the closest ones were incinerated. But instead off all the ones within a few feet getting incinerated, I’m imagining the whole room. And instead of throwing his hands out to send the blast, he doesn’t even move beyond letting out a roar of pain and fury, and the sound wave combines with the force into a massive shock wave.

There’s nothing wrong with a kids show tackling “mature” concepts like slavery or war. Avatar: The Last Airbender book 2 episode 16, Appa’s Lost Days; this episode won a Humane Society Genesis Award for it’s depiction of animal cruelty.

Sith who use dual lightsabers are usually very aggressive. In regards to Palpatine’s lightsaber choice in Ep. 3, I think he might’ve 1. used dual lightsabers particularly for more than one opponent or 2. Palpatine threw the fight against Mace and had the foresight to save one of his lightsabers for his inevitable duel against Yoda

Apaprently, there is a deleted fight scene from Rise of Skywalker where Palpatine uses his two lightsabers to fight Rey and Kylo Ren in an actual proper lightsaber battle (instead of the cheap "reflecting lightning" ending we got), but we only have rumors as to if the deleted scene will ever actually get released...

9:38 The fights are all so well choreographed in this show. It was so cool and clever of them to make Savvage block Palpatines 2 blades going for his neck and head by switching on his secondly blade. Proof that Savvage wasn't just a big dumb brute under Talzin's night sister magic.

After watching your comments on the "lack of weight in TCW's fights", I think I've realized a key strength of the team. In an old interview, Dave admitted that he's an okay animator at best, and he called his crew a team of great multitaskers. However, this reveals two major strengths of Dave. He may not be a great animator, but he's a fantastic director. Two, Dave and his crew are prime examples of "work WITH your limits, not against them". With the exception of Twin Suns, the best fights in TCW and Rebels usually don't reach the heights of Genndy's miniseries or the movies, BUT they do feature dynamic camerawork and blocking, nifty beats, and great character moments. Hell, the crew basically made Twin Suns by using their limited animation skills in creative ways, and they made Ahsoka's story by playing with TCW's cannon restrictions.

Fun fact: Savage Oppress is the only person in Star Wars to have dueled four different Sith Lords. First he fought Dooku with Ventress, he battled Anakin--who, of course later becomes one of the most notorious Sith--he briefly fought Maul over who should be the Master in their partnership, and finally met his end against Sidious.

The mural on the wall where Savage is killed seen briefly in 10:26 is an homage to Picasso's "Guernica" (pronounced "gerh-NEE- kah) painting, a masterpiece inspired on nazi bombing of the basque town of Guernica during the spanish civil war, and a very strong symbol of the horror of war. The attention to detail of this show never ceased to amaze me.

Alex Gaming Physical college is so much better & less stressful than normal School at least (at least for the UK) because it isn’t full time & the days are allot shorter as well. You get at least 4 days a week off as well & you can do the work in your own time as long as it reaches the deadline.

“What’s interesting he had a very different reaction here then he did when Qui-gon died. Cause when Qui-gon died he got angry, and like he was full of rage when he fought him. But with Satine he just kind of accepted it.” You also have to understand, similar to how Eric responds, is that Obi-wan currently had a training bond (a force connection) established with Qui-gon at the time. At the time of his death, Obi-wan would have not only felt his death but also the sudden loss of their connection. He had been with him for around a decade, was still a Padawan, and witnessed a personal death for the first time. With Satine, while he does care for her and I won’t undermine his feelings, he was only on a level of friendship and as he said, is full of remorse. In a way, he was already grieving but for a love he couldn’t have and by this point in his timeline has witnessed a lot more death throughout fighting in the Clone Wars and would be more experienced with dealing with death. If you compare the death of a past significant other you haven’t seen in years to the death of a father figure and the loss of a force bond which can be so intense to experience it can disconnect Jedi temporarily from the Force, it’s understandable the difference in his reaction.
