I remember watching this episode when it first aired. One of the clones yelled “What the hell!” in response to those giant worm things. I was really surprised because I didn’t expect anything even remotely like swearing to be in this show. Unfortunately, I wasn’t recording when the episode aired and when it was shown again later that week the “hell” was replaced with “heck.” Which lead me to believe I had just misheard it the first time.

No, that never happened. I watched this when it first came out when I was 8 and it was "heck" not "hell". I think you are referring to the part where Cutup gets eaten by the eel and Hevy says "what the hell was that?" That was the part that got censored.
