They're the ones that get their friends and family into the theaters as well. They buy the comics, they buy the novels, they buy the games, they watch the tv shows, they buy the toys. And they pissed them off so much they're not doing any of that and they wonder how they lost $100 million. Get Rian Johnson as FAR AWAY from star wars as humanly possible, CAN Kathleen Kennedy, APOLOGIZE to the fans for the disaster that was the TLJ and maybe things can get back on the right track. As for episode IX I dont know what they could possibly do to appease the fans whom alot have essentially written off this modern trilogy as non canon garbage.

Disney is the only one to blame. They gave EA the rights to develop and publish games with the IP; of course, they run it into the ground. Disney leaves K. Kennedy on the reins for the movie adaptations, she runs it into the ground. I mean, if they actually cared about SW, they should've given the IP rights to someone qualified.

Well for the video games they should have left it like it was, allowing any game developer to present game ideas and have someone at Star Wars approve them. There is a great video showing that in the 4 years EA has been in charge of the IP 2 games were developed (Battlefront 1 and 2) and both had major issues. In 4 years before there was 12+ games developed and many were very good or at least popular. I agree with Kathleen Kennedy being, if not completely gone, removed from sole leadership. Although Kennedy is known to have been part of Director staff in great movies, what made the movies successful doesn't seem to be Kennedy's vision but more on the fact that she helped get things done.

Long term contracts can look lucrative at first glance but if the publisher gets sloppy, then you're stuck in there until your IP suffers substantial enough damage for it to be legally viable for the right holder to withdraw. I don't see the better studios like CD Proyect Red or Rockstar getting into these 10 year deals since they are known for taking their sweet developing time and Disney apparently just wants to shovel out "products" regardless of their quality.

I did not see Solo and never intend to, and I don’t have any intent to watch Episode IX and that deeply saddens me. I was born in 2002 but still saw all of the movies at that time and grew VERY attached to the series and when I first found out about TFA I was very excited to experience the feeling of seeing a Star Wars movie as it came out, and I liked it. When TLJ was first released I was excited for it too and saw it with my older brother when it first came to our city and I liked it, despite numerous blunders, but the more I dwelled on it and the more I’ve seen of the politics inserted into it I was saddened to realize that the characters I grew to love and admire have died at the hands of Disney.

Rogue one was really weak too. Only reason people like it is getting off to all the nostalgia. All the, "oh I remember that from the originals" moments. Plus everyone's favorite character was a Droid so that should say everything you need to know about the character development skills in that movie.

I don't think they need to wait at all to make another Star Wars.. they should just say that "Last Jedi" was an alternate universe and Luke Skywalker time traveled to before "last Jedi" in order to keep the trilogy from being made and then do it right where they have real heros.

I cried at fricking Toy Story when the toys almost got incinerated! I got a lump in my throat for the Up intro! Or, what makes for a story with any consistency, continuity, or intrigue that real people can actually understand or appreciate.

Disney needs to realize Star Wars' target age group - people who were there from the beginning, 70s/80s kids, who are now grown ups and want their kids to enjoy Star Wars. You don't successfully accomplish that by ~killing the past~ as they did with "The Last Jedi." JJ Abrams knew that, and set that model up; Rian Johnson just shat on the whole lore, destroying it - and subsequently shatting upon an entire generation, GenX - the ones who also happen to be in peak spending and nostalgia categories. There is a successful story construction pattern they can follow which accomplishes a generational transition, in a respectful manner - Star Trek: The Next Generation, and in a way - The Orville, which is drawing in massive audiences compared to the new Star Trek show, the name of which, I don't know.

Pretty much... I have watched all the star wars movies when I was a kid, but I am much too young to have participated in any of the hype, but I enjoyed the movies, so when I heard there was a new trilogy in the making, I was thrilled that finally I could be a part of it. I went and watched episodes 7 and 8 on the movie theater, and both times came out of there thinking "alright... I guess that was a movie"... If it didn't have the brand attached to it, it would be garbage.

J.J. Abrams gave Star Wars new life with Force Awakens, and at least a fighting chance to become a great franchise for both old fans and new young fans alike. Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson killed Star Wars. For something this important, with this kind of cult following and "presence" in pop culture, you DON'T put people who aren't fans - hell, people who probably haven't even seen the original trilogy - in charge of it! Stars wars was the first movie that caught my attention as a kid. I'd seen the sort of Disney kids movies of course, but when I watched Star Wars at the end of the 70's it was the first movie to fire my imagination and a love for movies themselves. So it's pretty horrifying what Disney has managed to do with it. Shame, as they do the animated movies for kids so well, but they need to leave the politics out of movies.
