No, I think Generation Tech did some videos on the costs of Star Destroyers etc vs the cost of the Death Star, On the other hand they do have all those planets and the trade between them to provide revenue through taxation, tariffs and fees to fund a military in return for defence by that military. Even if they weren't worried about external threats like the First Order, a resurgent Empire (separate to the First Order, maybe a Moff or two disappeared off to a different isolated quarter and didn't follow Rax to Jacku) then they are definitely worried about the systems around them (i.e. their traditional enemies, aka their neighbours).

It’s not about the spoiler review or her early release of it. It’s all about the idiots who can’t help but disseminate all the info they learn from her spoiler review all over social media. Maybe Abrams should have introduced Snoke a lot better than he did in episode 7. Johnson just didn’t have anything to do with this character other than kill him (in order for episode 9 not to look too similar to episode 6). He threw it in the bin so he could focus on the characters that had a minimum of development. I think JJ Abrams actually did a very bad job at introducing new characters in the saga while Johnson made a particulary good job at trying to make up what JJ should have made in the last episode (aka explaining how Kylo went from the light to the dark side, who Rey is, etc..). Episode 7 was entertaining, but it was the worst of all Star Wars movies when it comes to introducing a new storyline

Sebastien Renson; there is something in what you say there; RJ had to pick up where JJ left off. For example, I really don't like that Luke is portrayed as a broken hermit in episode 8, but given that episode 7 established that he had been in self exile, where else could RJ have gone with that? Given what JJ had set up I think RJ actually did the best that could be done with Luke, even though I think it does a great disservice to his character. It is the same with Snoke; you set him up to be the equivalent of the Emperor, you set Kylo Ren up to be the equivalent of Darth Vader, and General Hux up to be the equivalent of Grand Moff Tarkin and then you leave someone else to pick up the pieces and bring in something original! RJ got his own back though; he has left JJ to sort out what happens with Leia!

The main difference IMO is, Kylo Ren is not even close to carrying the weight that Darth Vader did so removing Snoke from the equation (so early) makes episode VIII completely uninteresting as Kylo Ren will be the main bad guy moving forward.

This movie was a dismantling of everything SW ever was. Luke's character is used to shit on everything about the Jedi. Kylo did not evolve at all. On the contrary, he basically shits on the sith too. He ends up killing the only thing interesting about this movie which was Snoke. In other words, after Snokes death this movie has no villain, given how weak and pathetic kylo continues to be in this movie. In summary, the true force in this movie is the feminist propaganda which uses Mary sue Reys character to outshine both heroes and villains, even though she continues to be completely untrained in the force and also has no significant lineage... pathetic .

I thought it was beautiful visually and I was mostly into it but I wasn't feeling the Finn/Rose storyline, Finn and BB8 should have had their own side story alone, maybe get BB8 to hack the ship or something because that casino scene just felt out of place also I wouldn't of minded Finn sacrificing himself at the end to save his friends, would've had more of an impact and It would've allowed Rey to potentially go to the darkside.

All the spoilers that I have listened to have made me decide to give up star wars. This isn't the Star Wars that I love. This isn't the star wars which said "I am a jedi like my father before me.". I hardly would bang her, honestly. She saved Finn from a totally useless self sacrifice. She gave us some depth about the "regular guys" from the resistance. I mean, we always have seen those guys giving their lives to the cause, but we never knew anything about them. She and her sisters showed us examples of what leads people to join the rebellion - a theme that was introduced in Rogue One, but with flat characters. And the plot with her/finn/poe wasn't pointless because it led to Benicio Del Toro's character to tell about the rebel's scape plan to the First Order (narratively speaking, it led the plot to somewhere, and thematically speaking was relevant). I just wish they would have spent less time in the Casino, because that scape scene on the horse aliens (lol) was boring, the jokes with that leprechaun and BB8 didn't work...and well, they could have spared her and Finn from that beyond-cheesy kiss at the end. So unnecessary.

I liked Rose. I don't think her plot was a bad one, I just think it was an unsatisfactory one. Her plotline basically served as another ''failure'' lesson in The Last Jedi. I don't think it is a coincidence that Yoda tells Luke that failure is the greatest teacher and then we get a plotline that basically gives us just that. Her and Finn's mission was a pointless one in the end, but I think that was on purpose. Not everything always works out the way we want it to. And of course, that is why it felt ''bad'', cause no one likes to watch a story that ends in complete failure. P.S.- And I don't think it's entirely pointless, her and Finn are now changed by everything that has happened to them, and we get to see it in episode 9.

I believe you only see the Force Ghost of people you knew in real life. Obi-wan and Yoda knew Qui-Gon so they were able to see him, Luke knew Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda so he was able to see them. So I believe Luke is the only force ghost Rey will be able to see. Only other way to see a force ghost is from a artifact or holocron.

Legen Alvarado What pisses me off the most was that he even said "I can see you turning on me", to Kylo when Snoke ordered him to kill Rey. How did Snoke forsee that but not the lightsaber wich was about to kill him?. Andy Serkis claims that Snoke is damn powerful but he couldn't even forsee his own death. I really hope Snoke returns in Episode 9 and stomps Kylo again just like in the beginning of the movie. After all "Kylo is just a child who was defeated by a girl with no lightsaber training and hides behind his childish mask"

To be honest I don't see why Rey should have special parents. Powerful force users were known to come from nowhere, otherwise it would be kind of a nobility with the force being only passed on inside a few select families. You could even breed them into more powerful sons and daughters. And Darth Emo was imo much better than in the Ep.7, less and less teenager, for me he went from almost laughable to believable... Only a few bits didn't work for me. I did not like how Finn's arc amounted to literally nothing. If more is worked on between Rose and Finn in 9, then it can at least amount to character development between the two (which I did feel they accomplish. Finn's time with Rose I feel developed a strength in him and a want to stay and fight along side the Rebels. The interactions with the slave children served purpose of showing hope in the dark corners for building on. Other than that, the scenes didnt work for me. The Space Walk.......only scene I outright hate. I know the purpose of the scene they tried to convey, but it really didnt work. Phasma's "death". I am holding hope shes not dead, but the only death I have a hard time with. Such a good character they never expanded on. Snoke's death I loved (and I know I am in the minority on that). It kills any comparison to Vader/Emperor lines and paves the way for more focus on Kylo as a character. Unshackled from the restraints of Snoke, I feel he grows more (whether thats more unstable or not, he is surely going to grow more powerful). Luke's death is NOT the end of the character, mark my words. His conversation with Kylo even foreshadows that. Force Ghost/Troll Luke is definitely going to be a part of 9. Rey's parentage really makes sense for the character. She knew the entire time what they were and where they probably ended up, hence her utter mind numbing want to belong somewhere as she knows she belongs nowhere. Her drive is to find her purpose since her entire life has been filled with nothing, literally nothing. Making her belong to a known star wars family shrinks the universe. It just gives the point of "anything that happens in this universe happens to these few bloodlines and that's it".....and I am not ok with that. Making her a nobody junker gives us a bigger universe, that power comes from everywhere, that the force is strong outside of the Skywalkers. It would have been a bigger cop-out if she DID have parentage that is known to the fans. Unfortunately, I feel that a very large portion of the vocal fan base would just rather of had another rehash....even though I hear TFA was hated for JUST that. Can't win when passion runs this deep. Its so driven and diverse that literally everyone has a different interpretation to what would be a perfect arc to them. Imagination runs wild with this kind of material and can go in so many directions, but the direction it usually does take runs aground with so many fans. Everything outside of the original trilogy hits this (although ROTJ does a bit as well). Prequels, gets hate. TFA, gets hate. Rouge One, gets hate. TLJ, gets hate. While there are scenes and moments that are extremely deserving of those criticisms, I dont think they make the movies "bad". There are so many moments in all of these movies that work and grow the universe in satisfying ways. Im not going to let Jar Jar binks ruin what I thought was a good foundation to the universe (Im just going to fast forward or tune out when he speaks xD). Im not going to let whiny characters ruin otherwise GREAT scenes (Most of Anakin's dialogue, I.E. conversation with Obi Wan before the final battle in ROTS). And Im not going to let the casino and a REALLY bad space walk ruin amazing character moments and an overall GOOD Star Wars movie. This movie served its purpose in my eyes of breaking apart what we expect from the Trilogies to give us something new. Why keep ourselves in the same confines of the characters that started the series when they themselves will not last forever? Why do you want a universe THAT small? They try to expand on the universe and they are being crucified by the fan base. Again, as I put before, they really did miss the mark on quite a few things, but this does not make this a bad Star Wars movie, just a different Star Wars movie that now allows the universe to move on to more characters and more opportunities.

greed0and0fear by all means expand the Star Wars universe and break some of the predictable parts to make us think differently about the Star Wars universe but we still need to care about the characters. We still need to relate to them and if there a disconnect who cares about seeing the next film. The film still needs to have a solid timeline, it needs to connect and feel part of the film. It needs to make sense to the audience. A story is like a magic trick we know the start and end but the magic is knowing the trick (the middle how we get from the beginning to the end). If you leave the film with just question marks on the key parts of the film because all you've done is tell the audience what to think you've failed in communicating. Hitchcock lesson 'everything should be communicated visually' if you have to tell the audience ray parents where no bodies why not illustrate that in the film so we understand ray frustrations and pain of feeling unwanted (which adds to the scene when she is reunited with Finn because she discovered her new home with ppl who love her).

That's quite important I'd say. For Finn it looks like he went from escaping the situation to sacrificing for the Resistance. Maybe it's not done very well but I can see a direction... Personnally I'd have enjoyed very much some material on Snoke, if we're talking "Universe expansion". We never got that much on the darker side of the Force in these movies (not talking books and other material, just cannon movies), it would have been nice to know what was Snoke's background, if he's actually a Sith or not and stuff like that. I have no problem moving away from the Skywalker line but I'd like exploration of the Force and its users, their history and customs, philosophies etc...

Going to disagree heavily that Canto Bight felt "Star Warsy". It took me out of the film because of how Earth-like it was and felt so out of place. The one thing I do appreciate though, is its architecture. Lucas' original trilogy felt so blocky and gritty, and the prequel trilogy is sleek and smooth. I always had a hard time reconciling the difference in art direction, but Canto Bight was so sleek in comparison to the other planets shown in this new trilogy that it allowed me to really feel an artistic connection between Lucas' films.

Yes, the headlines that they had no idea how the second one would play out is slightly skewed. The original draft of The Last Jedi was finished in 2014 even before TFA was shot. So I don't know how much earlier people wanted it to be for it to be considered planned all along. They also had an outline for 9 that was drastically changed after Carrie Fisher's death, but that was obviously not planned.

I was concerned about that at first, that she had no idea what she was doing and would lose her way or not reach her potential without guidance; but I now think it wanted to encourage faith that she would find her own way, after hearing from people who noted that she probably nicked some of the books. I think that was what the film was getting at with the pit scene and then later with Yoda. Luke was concerned that she wouldn't resist the pit, but she goes there to see it and decide for herself

Things i liked: Kylo Ren... his story arc was nice. The talks between Rey and Kylo. The AT-M6 looked cool. I actually liked how he died, at first I was like wtf why is he not giving an epic last fight but then I understand the characters inner conflict and he’s been dead for a long time...and when he sees the two suns it reflects inner peace and he can rest now without the burden of creating Kylo and being a failure. But I was still left with the need for an epic fight at the end haha

Let me just say seeing yoda actually saved this movie for me It was gonna be a 7/10 but he brought a weight to it that helped me get past the bullshit 8/10 overall

now I understand why Mark said he totally disagreed with Rian. this was not Luke Skywalker!!! He risked his life & everything to save his friends in Empire but won't do it now knowing his friend was killed & his SISTER may also be killed!! WRONG!! he refuses to give up on his father when he was considered the 2nd most evil man in the galaxy but he was gonna kill his nephew in his sleep!! WRONG!! he dies on a planet alone hiding!! WRONG!! I understand he had to go but why not have him raise the X-wing from the lagoon & fly there & take on the First Order in person & go out saving everyone as a hero & savior!? so many problems too numerous to even get into (like cartoon Yoda!!!) but the mishandling of Luke SHAMEFUL!!!!!!

CosmicGlimpse JJ intended for him to be force sensitive (this is noted throughout TFA, Kylo sensing his hesitancy when told to kill the villagers on Jakku, him hearing the screams of the people slaughtered when the Hosnian system was destroyed, his inept ability with a lightsaber), but Rian wrote his script for TLJ before TFA even came out, so continuity meant nothing to him. Nothing is cohesive and Finn, Poe, and even Rey were way out of character in this film. It was a mess

Adam Driver's acting is the only thing compelling me to keep watching these movies. Plus, I think Daisy Ridley's acting is much better in scenes with him. Those two characters (Kylo and Rey) have a sizzling dynamic

People keep saying that nothing happened in this movie, it has no impact, but I totally dissagree. This movie was different from the other movie in that, in the end, the resistance didn't pull some miraculous victory, win against the odds, they got their asses beat. They lost, and we're reduced to a few dozen members, and that is very important, this movie was about the downfall of the resistencd, they lost this time. Like if you agree with this!

I did not think that Luke died (ascended) because he was exhausted and drained from the force projection thing. I think that when he was done confronting Kylo Ren, there was no more to be done then he just let go and became a legend as he should be. It was very similar to when Obiwan confronted Vader on A New Hope. After confronting his former padawan and friend, he felt there was nothing more to do and he let go.

That was so Luke? Instead of trying to turn him, he takes a shortcut? Luke tried to turn his father til the very end and he refused to go with the plan of killing Vader since the beginning. That's just the opposite of what you say in the review.
