My recommendation would be to wait until you've finished Rebels before season 2 of The Mandalorian it you're worried about spoilers, since the spoiler Mando Season 2 contains is a big one for the arcs of a few particular Rebels characters, at least one of which I know you're very invested in from your previous videos.

The Mandalorian is one of the best Star Wars series. I hadn't watched anything Star Wars since the original trilogy, which I watched at the cinema on opening day. That is until The Mandalorian. I first watched this around a year ago, Then I watched The Bad Batch. Then The Book of Boba Fett. Then the animated series, and since then every other series. But, it was The Mandalorian that started me watching Star Wars again.

This is the only Star Wars show that specifically gave me OG Star Wars feels. I don't even know what the others are missing, and it's not all the references, though those are nice, just to stay in-universe. I think maybe too many other shows try too hard to "modernize" it, when it's supposed to be really advanced tech that's actually quite old, combined with actually interesting stories and characters.

There is a reason why we are 3 seasons in and still going strong. Book of Boba is after season 2 of the Mandalorian and you have to watch it before season 3 since it's more like Mandalorian season 2.5 at some point!

Good morning, Emme. The Mandalorian takes place 5 years after Return of the Jedi, and there are still Imperial "warlords" vying for power, mostly in the Outer Rim. I'm going to advise you to pay very close attention to the smaller details in this series, as some of them become important later on. I'll explain some things as we go along, but as always, spoiler free. Speaking of spoilers, I advise holding off on season 2 until you've finished with Rebels, as you really don't have THAT much farther to go in that series (IIRC). Rebels is only 4 seasons long, and it's a pretty "easy" watch. You could even "binge record", then edit later as you go. At least then, you'll be caught up "lore wise".

Don't forget the mandalorians are an entire civilization. They were featured pretty heavily in the clone wars as well as rebels. This is just a small nomadic mandalorian tribe. Boba and his dad come from a tribe that was destroyed by another before the events of the movie. Because of that neither of them really care or participate in mandalorian society.

Beskar is an ore native to the planet Mandalore and its moons. If properly refined, it is turned into the nigh indestructible shiny metal you see Mando wearing. The members of Death Watch, such as Bo Katan and Pre Vizla and also Sabine in Star Wars Rebels all wear Beskar armor. The grip of the Darksaber, the black lightsaber Pre Vizla and later on Maul wielded in TCW was also made out of Beskar. The worn down metal plates Mando is wearing are most likely made of Durasteel, which, while not as protective as Beskar, is still incredibly durable as the name suggests. Darth Vader's armor plating was also made out of Durasteel.

Hey, so glad you made it to The Mandalorian! This is actually my favorite piece of Star Wars content since Return of the Jedi, for exactly the reason you described. It feels more like that Star Wars world than anything else that has come out (except Andor). There would be a massive spoiler for Rebels in Season 2. There is a cliffhanger in Rebels that lasts for several seasons, and you would know mostly how it resolves if you watch Season 2. But, it may be too hard to stay away. Season 1 of The Mandalorian is amazing, but believe it or not, Season 2 is even better.

Many of us were kind of skeptical of The Mandalorian when it first came out but we quickly realized it was some of the best Star Wars since the original and prequel trilogies. Oh, the timeline order folks - bless your hearts! Eventually it'll always become like trying to arrange the water in a bucket, lol! But seriously, we're all fans and that's what's important. Love your reactions, humor and how much you're enjoying all of SW. Thank you for sharing! From my point of view, each new SW content drops into various points in the timeline and assumes we have already seen the previous content as it was released. Otherwise Lucas and Disney would have told us to wait 60 years before watching to account for the timeline. If we can handle Memento and Pulp Fiction we can handle Star Wars in release order. And it's just easier that way!

This is such a great series. What’s cool is one of the carbonite bounties is George Lucas. When Mando says he can bring them in warm or cold means dead or alive. The IG droid doesn’t care much about the financial reward but the notoriety that comes with it. That will help them get more jobs. When you finish season one you should check out The Gallery Mandalorian season 1. Lots of behind the scenes how they do it.

The Book of Boba Fett is basically season 2.5 of the Mandalorian (botched branding on the part of Lucasfilm). So don't worry about your Boba Fett questions, they will be answered eventually.

I'd join in with the folks encouraging you to finish Rebel's before you watch season 2. There are a number of plot threads from Rebels that flow in and I personally think the immensely powerful impact of those moments in Rebels are worth preserving for their emotional resonance. Just my opinion, also I just think Rebels is an infinitely better show than Mandalorian so I am biased.

Every Mandalorian you see can trace their origin back to Boba Fett. He is the reason why the Mandalorian were created for Clone Wars and later Rebels. In canon Boba isn't a real mandalorian atm but still has roots as a foundling. Giving anymore info would be spoilers atm. Boba Fett was so cool Dave and George Lucas created a whole people based on Boba and Jango Fett.

Baby yoda isn't exactly confirmed to be the last of their species. Very little is known about Yoda's race and no one knows their true homeworld. They can also live up to 1000 years old. Yoda was around 800 when he died on Dagobah, which explains why Baby Yoda here is 50 years old and still...bebe

Great reaction! And, yes, watching the further seasons of Rebels before season 2 would be advantageous to understanding some of the connections and not having surprises spoiled. I've never seen Rebels but I knew all the references I needed for Mando Season 2 from some kids I used to babysit/tutor who were huge fans and would tell me all about it. 😛 This is the only well scripted show I've seen from Lucasfilm since their acquisition by Disney. I mean seasons one and two of Mando because I've not seen any of season 3 yet as I tend to binge watch, and I haven't seen Andor which I've heard wasn't bad. But otherwise, this is the only really good Disney Lucasfilm product that I've seen.

Alright here's the simplest rundown for the situation of spoilers with Rebels... For total spoiler immunity, don't watch Mando s2ep3 or beyond until after all of Rebels. For the important stuff, get past the season 2 finale of Rebels before s2 of Mando. The spoiler itself isn't even THAT huge, it just has to do with some fates of characters. If you watch Mando first then you'll already know the fates of some characters in Rebels who survive or don't, which takes the tension out of those moments, etc etc. After the finale of Rebels season 2 then I'd say most people wouldn't have a big issue with Mando s2. That Rebels finale is some of the best Star Wars content out there, so it would be a shame if you felt no tension by already knowing how a few key characters end up.
