They had to take down Orbital defence command and control that was in the Jedi Temple before fleet arrived. That is what the Mandalorian Shae Vizla was doing while Malgus was providing distraction at the main entrance and why they used stolen Republic shuttle to smuggle the strike team in. Automatic defences could give time for Republic fleet to arrive and engage the fleet in space and Sith Empire needed clean easy strike as a bargaining chip to consolidate their conquests and rearm and repair their military. As bloodied, unprepared and inexperienced as Republic Military was, Republic was mobilizing across such vast area of the Galaxy that even if it splintered or incompetents commanded it, the Sith Empire would eventually get whittled down by sheer numbers. This whole attack was a calculated gamble and unfortunately for Republic it worked. To get Coruscant back they signed Treaty of Coruscant on Alderaan which removed key allied worlds for Republic from their influence and trade and put them into such diplomatic hot seat that any move they made to get ready for a fight carried dangers of ridiculous sanctions.

Also, this was the THIRD Old Republic cinematic, not the second; you missed 'Hope', which (among other things) explains why Darth Malgus is wearing a mask in this one. And FYI, Malgus is a serious badass - there's a reason the statue that came with the collector's edition of the game was him! :-) After that comes Sacrifice, then Betrayed. EDIT: AAAND I should have read further down. People were already all over the chronological order thing!

I might have my timeline mixed up but I think this is called Deceived because prior to the attack the Sith pretended to want a treaty and offered a meeting place far away from Coruscant and when the fleet went away to go to the meeting place is when the Temple was sacked and Coruscant fell. So the treaty was a ruse and after the Republic found out that the planet had fallen they ended up having to sign the Treaty of Coruscant to get it back.

As for the head tails on the blue girl, a Twi'lek, they're called lekku and they store fat as well as part of the brain in the upper parts, yes it hurts when they are squeezed. Fun fact, that blue twi'lek was Darth Malgus' (the vader "wannabe") lover but he later kills her so she can't be used against him as a hostage.

Those tentacle-like appendages on her (Aleena is her name) head are called Lekku, all members of the Twi-lek race have them and they are VERY sensitive, and almost act an antennae you see on insects, any sound or touch they experience always involves their Lekku. Also, as you may guess, play a big role in sex. Speaking of which, that opens up a sad can of worms, as Twi-leks are a slave race, being bought and sold for manual labor, or the females (rare occasions males) are sold into sexual slavery, working as dancers or prostitutes in venues across the galaxy (mostly for Hutts, the big fat green slugs, like Jabba). Even the free ones end up having to resort to doing shady and/or nasty things to get by, and few are wealthy.

The CGI cinematics for Star Wars The Old Republic are top notch. I can rewatch them and never get tired of them. If you like sci fi CGI, check out Astartes too. Its based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The guy who does the videos is like a god.

i always got the impression Vader would not have survived one day in the sith empire of old. Either Overseer Harkun or Overseer Tremel would eat him for breakfast or dismiss him on moment's notice if vader woud arrive as the new guy at the korriban academy. the sith of that era were the real stuff and the Darth title was not given to a mere apprentice like Sidious gave it to Vader.

Another species with a similar aspect is the Togruta species (think Ahsoka Tano, who by the way is my biggest fictional crush EVER), though the upper parts (which for Togrutans are called montrals) provide a type of echolocation sense in a 360 degree radius. Also would like to point out that I consider Togruta females more attractive than Twi’lek females.

Those blue things on the aliens head those are lekus aka hair so yes they are part of the head and if force sensitive they actually act as a backup force connection so if a twilek Jedi alien in blue is a twilek lost connection to the force he or she could use her lekus to feel the force since at this point in time there was tech designed to disconnect Jedi from the Force so having a backup came in handy

The twi-lek woman in the trailer has lecu (think I've spelt that right) that store nutrients. If you cut them of, id expect there to be a lot of pain followed by a slow death caused by a lack of malnutrition. That twi-lek in particular though is actually Darth malgus' (the darth vader like one) wife.

Well... sadly it's a bit confusing. Not your fault. Similar to the Star Wars movies, they didn't *release* the trailers in chronological order. The order I gave you is chronological. In the story, Return happens first, then Hope, then Deceived. But they released Deceived first, then Hope, then Return. Backwards. Deceived as first to be released, but last in the story. (Sacrifice and trailer 5 are expansion trailers that happen after the first 3.)
