It's heavily implied in the prequels that either Palpatine or Darth Plagueis used the force to create the immaculate conception in Shmei Skywalker. "He could use the midichlorians to create... Is that why all those stormtroopers have a clear burnhole that directly lines up with their heart? Right totally seems like that energy blast was evenly distributed across this armour and totally did not incinerate this poor hapless stormtrooper's heart. In the original movies that explanation actually works because, for the most part, they do not show stormtroopers lying quite clearly dead in quite clearly compromised armour because CGI was not a thing and budgets were much smaller so creating two sets of armour every time you need a dead stormtrooper was not an option.

Yeah I agree. The directors of GoT don't know how to write. Given the ending of The Last Jedi, I doubt they could have written a turn to the dark side very well, so having her go the good route was fine.

Jason Martin I think they were doing a great job of showing that when she really wanted to win she’d give into her rage and how she always wanted to do it herself and go her own way but then they ruined all of it when she healed Kylo/Ben. If they had her go against the emperor with no help no one to turn to, the way she kinda wanted it that would of been good and then she could be turned by the people coming to help her cause and then all the Jedi stuff happens
@TheTriforceDragon4 жыл бұрын
I would much rather have seen Rey die and Ben live. I see so much more potentially interesting storytelling in having someone like Ben, who has fallen and then return to the light, be the the one who has to rebuilt the Jedi (or whatever we might end up calling it) while also dealing with the fallout of his past and mistakes. I can just see him so easily in that final scene on Tatoine. The nod from his mother and Luke, add in Anakin's force ghost as well for that tie back to Ben wanting to emulate his grandfather and Ben proudly declaring himself as Ben Skywalker (as opposed to the Rey name stealing, seriously girl deal with your own damn heritage, dont steal someone else's). Later appearances of Ben could have him in a cloak with a mask, a less frightening one, as he now has to hide his identity due to his past instead of how he tried to emulate Vader. Why must all redeemed sith die instantly? Why cant we for once explore their attempts at penance and how they deal with their past?
@crunchytoast60074 жыл бұрын
Jacob how would they have him live though? He just pops up out of the hole after Reg and The Emperor fight and walks off to rebuild the Jedi? It was gonna be really hard to have Ben play a big role in the final fight and have Rey kill The Emperor and die then have Ben show up as the last hope(or the rising skywalker)
@TheTriforceDragon4 жыл бұрын
@@crunchytoast6007 The fact that Ben already did not play a big role in the final fight after three movies and his redemption is a massive problem already and annoys me a lot. Fixing it is something i would want done even without the change as to who survives. In fact, if one wants to get really specific here, the best choice Rey could have made would have been to only show the way to the Sith planet, but never land. Without Rey and Ben there to restore him Palpatine would have remained weakened and the Resistance fleet + reinforcements could have won the battle and bombed the temple at leisure. But getting into the countless stupidities and mistakes of the movies is something I could spend house on.

(1:25:00) Regarding the Sith people in the stadium seating. It was explained (very briefly) in the beginning of the movie that the Emperor had created a Sith/Emperor cult of some sort at some point. It is assumed that this Sith cult revived the Emperor from death, built all of these Death Star ships, and made all of the Snoke clones. How do these people live on this planet that is basically all rocks? Where do they get the resources and research to make these ships? How did they find/revive the Emperor? How did they get to the planet without a Sith way finder (because we were told there were only two left and you needed because of the "Gravity Wells" and "Space Storms")? Who knows (because movie that's how). I really don't want to nitpick but it really feels like there was no plan (like they say in the video).

on the subject of the medal, when i first seen it i kinda had the reaction everyone else had, that this was a nod to the "chewie didn't get a medal" meme, but when i thought about it some more i think the medal was han's medal from a new hope. it makes sense that leia would have the medal, and it makes sense she would want to give it to chewie after her death, and grey mentioning she was holding it when she accidentally killed her son kinda lends credence to that...that was her reminder of han.

CAIN AND ABEL TROPE NOTES FOR 1ST SEQUEL The 1st movie should have followed the Cain and Abel trope. It is very stealy and tropey, but they work. (Stolen from American Samurai, Blood Sport, Kickboxer, Karate Kid and others) ((UNSEEN - Kylo is being trained by Luke in Tatooine. There are new buildings built around his old family home. Luke sends Kylo off to Mos Eisley for supplies etc.)) Rey is a poor scavenger in Mos Eisley. We see her being physically agile and capable. It is made apparent that one particular Hutt has dominated the whole planet effectively becoming its ruler. The Hutt is particalrily cruel and unforgiving and is driving everyone to starvation. She is starving and can't get enough food through a bad day scavenging and bad interactions with the Hutt's agents. Kylo has bought lots of food and parts. Rey and Kylo bump into each other. There is a force/romantic connection between them. He sees she is hungry and gives her some food. While chatting he tells her where he lives. Kylo leaves for home. A couple of other scavengers come up to Rey and ask who he is. Rey shares her food with them and tells them and where he lives. They talk about how much food and expensive equipment he has and decide to go and rob him. Rey is reluctant. Rey and the scavengers break into Kylo and Luke's home. While taking and throwing stuff around they accidentally set fire to the building. The two scavengers run off. Rey stays to put out the fire. A dark figure appears in the smoke. We hear a light-sabre sound. Empire March. Rey picks up a cup and throws it at the figure. A flash of green light and the cup is destroyed. The figure approaches, sabre pointing to Rey. Kylo runs in and sees Rey. Kylo "She's just hungry" The figure pulls back his hood. It is Luke. The light-sabre is turned off. "Okay." He looks down and sighs. "That was my favourite cup." They are eating and talking at the table. Luke tells Rey she can wash up to make up for breaking in. When Rey turns away Luke throws a space-apple at the back of her head. She dodges out of the way without seeing. Luke "You should stay here and train, etc, food, etc." Rey "Okay" Rey turns back around and is hit on the back of the head with a space-apple. Luke "Needs work" Typical training and philosophy talks. Luke gives Rey a training Light-Sabre. It only causes bruising, but interacts with other Light-Sabres normally allowing proper sword play. Rey and Kylo have fun together in their training. Helping each other and hi-jinx. Kylo has a romantic interest in Rey, but she is dedicated to her training, barely notices causing Kylo to become jaded. Luke shows both of them how to make their Light-Sabres. The process can only be done using the Force to manipulate the Kyber Crystals. Rey is a natural, but Kylo is having trouble, being aggressive and lacking emotional control. They are trained to use the Jedi Mind Trick against each other. Rey is slightly superior, Kylo too prone to distraction and lack of focus. Rey visits Mos Eisley regularly for supplies and shares some of her food with her scavenger friends. As Luke trains them both, Kylo feels he is being pushed aside. He has growing resentment for Rey and Luke. He regrets helping Rey only to be betrayed. He resents his affection for her and sees it as a weakness, a betrayal of himself. When duel practicing Kylo is more and more aggressive. He wins over and over, but he isn't satisfied with winning. He wants to humiliate her and prove Luke wrong in believing in her. Even though Kylo is a far superior swordsman than Rey, she has exceeded him in her other Force related abilities. Luke is very proud of Rey's progress, but is always chastising Kylo for his aggression. Luke "It is the path to the Dark Side." Kylo "Every time I succeed you say I fail." In a particularly brutal duel Kylo injures Rey. Luke steps in and Kylo, losing control, attacks him in a rage. Luke is injured in the fight. Kylo sees what he has done and has a moment of regret, then his anger reemerges. Kylo "This is all your doing!" Kylo points to the injury "I have nothing more to learn from you." Kylo storms out never to return. Kylo finishes his Light-Sabre. It is unstable, raw, loud and most importantly, red. Rey wants to find Kylo and bring him back so she frequently visits Mos Eisley asking her old scavenger friends. Kylo wants employment so he visits the Hutt. The Hutt is not satisfied with small pickings and has far bigger plans beyond Tatooine. The Hutt makes a deal with Kylo that if he can win his to-the-death tournament he will one of his personal bodyguards. Kylo goes through a few fights with interesting opponents. It is challenging but he gets better, and more brutal, with each fight. Rey is told by a scavenger that Kylo is fighting in the death pits. She goes to confront him. He rejects her pleas and the Hutt forces her to fight in the Death Pits as well. Rey has to fight the last remaining contender except Kylo, but only armed with her training Light-Sabre. Rey "I will not kill." Rey wins the fight, but barely. She knocks her opponent unconscious. The Hutt opens a trap door dropping her opponent into ("Insert Interesting Monster Here") Kylo "You see? Your way.. his way, is pathetically futile." The Hutt "She is your last opponent. Beat her and you get what you want." Kylo drops into the pit and he and Rey fight a duel. Kylo is clearly better at fighting and humiliates her, slightly injuring her here and there, not to mention she is only using a training Light-Sabre. She uses a Jedi mind trick on him. It not very effective against another trained Jedi, but due to his lack of focus it is enough to distract. She uses the distraction to knock his Light-Sabre from his hand with her training Light-Sabre. They enter a battle of wills to pull his Light-Sabre. She wins and strikes at him, in desperate anger, slashing him. Rey drops his Light-Sabre in shock. Kylo takes it quickly and strikes her through the stomach. She lies dying. Kylo is almost unconscious, but he looks full of regret. The Hutt orders his servants to take Kylo away and tend to his wound. Hutt "You have earned your place." As The Hutt is leaving, he calls to his servants to finish her off and throw her in the dump with the rest. As the servants are about to kill the unconscious Rey, Luke bursts in, with Han Solo and fights them off. They take her away with them. Rey wakes back at home. Luke and Han are there with her. Luke "I contacted Kylo's (Ben's) father. See if he could bring him back." Han "Hot headed and stubborn. Like his father.. and his mother. Never been the same since she died." Rey "What next? What about Kylo?" Luke "You need to complete your training. Then we can talk about Kylo. The Light Side is more difficult. It takes longer to perfect. You failed in the Pit. You resorted to rage to win. That is the Dark Side and no good ever comes from it. Patience." Last scene we see Rey complete her Light-Sabre. It is yellow (why not) but when she turns the top it goes the colour of a relatively harmless training Light-Sabre.

Disney definitely had a plan. But then Rian Johnson threw it out the window and Disney went "Ok, sure"

Ok so there WAS a plan for the films that JJ came up with, but Rian, when he directed TLJ, completely ignored JJ’s plan.

Spend 4 billion on a Franchise and might have a billion, maybe. Still three billion in the hole.
