About the Peloton Bike commercial: Brady, I think you're overthinking it. Her taking selfies, and making the compilation, can actually be something that helps her do it. Its functionally no different from an exercise journal. And the compilation is about showing herself, and her husband, how much she's progressed over the year. And yeah, the video includes her thanking her husband, who is right next to her. She probably recorded it while he was asleep.

Re: carbonic acid, yes it's possible; as it happens, the CO2 hydration reaction is actually fairly slow, and this can be frustrating for chemists (say, trying to measure the pH of a solution that CO2 is still bubbling out of), and is frustrating enough to biochemistry that we have carbonic anhydrase enzymes in our blood, ensuring rapid CO2 exchange. Which means, for the ultimate experiment, if you're so inclined: you could take a glass of formerly-fizzy water, add a few granules of carbonic anhydrase (find it at a chem supply or supplement store, probably), let it bubble out some more, and taste it again! (Or the free version, just let a glass sit out for a few days or weeks.)

I may have this wrong now but roof or no roof, Notre Dame still has (had?) a vaulted ceiling up there. The ashes of the burnt up roof collapsed onto the topside of that ceiling I think, so all the talk of more or less light coming through is pointless. Considering what Brady says about liking modern amendments to churches and old buildings has me thinking he didn't visit the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church while in Berlin! While most old buildings that have stood the test of time become architecturally timeless in a sense (survivorship bias in architectural styes?), modern amendments to them won't necessarily enjoy that timelessness, especially considering the apparent Modern and Post-Modern aversion to architectural beauty. I've been in that glass Reichstag dome, you walk up a long spiral ramp then walk back down. Felt kinda pointless, but maybe that's because I was there at night. Then again, I went up the Fernsehturm at night too, that was pretty incredible, and somewhat nauseating. ---- EDIT ---- When they were talking about Time, I'm surprised they didn't talk about how it went this year. Winner of Time Person of the Year: Greta Thunberg, a young girl, clearly the walking meat-puppet of her parents, who goes around berating rich, powerful people and telling them things they all already know/agree with, which makes them feel bad, which makes them feel _good,_ because self-flagellation is SO IN right now.... vs. - Winner of the People's vote for Time Person of the Year: The Hong Kong Protesters. A group fighting for democracy against their inevitable smothering by an authoritarian regime while the rest of the world just watches on, not daring to get involved and kick off any sort of international conflict with China. Which was more worthy??? Maybe Grey can only sigh exasperatedly so much in the duration of a single podcast.

Remember, it is Time _person_ of the year, so if the Hong Kong Protesters got the prize it would have been awarded to one of their leaders like Joshua Wong and not to the whole movement. I was in the Reichstag dome on the hottest day of the year and got absoloutely fried up there. It was still pretty nice because I really like the architectural idea of combining old and new design.

I don't think the KZbin Rewind video deserved that many dislikes, but I will say that I was tempted to dislike it immediately, simply because it felt the need to mention how poorly received the previous video was. In my opinion, they shouldn't have mentioned that at all. Not only is it starting off on the wrong foot by reminding me of something they did that I don't like, it also felt slightly passive-aggressive and confrontational, like "Oh, you didn't like what I made? The German Parlament is called Bundestag not Reichstag. Reichstag was its nice during the Third Reich and the Kaiser Reich.

The building is still called Reichstag though. The Bundestag uses the Reichstag building as well as some other modern buildings for its business. The Third Reich did not use the Reichstag, it burned down in the night before the election in which the NSDAP got the majority. They used the party headquarters of the NSDAP instead.
