@@Big_Nugget549 I'm a snare drummer, you have no idea how difficult that was. Playing the same thing for so long is not easy. And the deviation is to be expected, and he was following the conductor once he took over. What the critics are not understanding is the delay that happens when you separate the parts so far. The melody is in the trumpets, who are about 100 feet away from the low brass and conductor, if they are following the conductor the delay as the sound travels to the recorder about 50 feet from the lower level just amplifies the separation. Add echoes, and there you go.

To all the people complaining about how long it took them to set up and start, is like to see you voluntarily go into a public space and start performing a piece of music. As a musician I can say it isn’t easy, and the fact that the piece was recognisable and well played makes up for the fact it took them a while to set up.

I used to play in a youth orchestra that would do a movie music themed night to introduce young children to orchestral music once a year. The entire orchestra would dress up for the event and little kids would show up in pokemon onesies with beanbags and popcorn. Every year we started the imperial march without our conductor. As the main theme started he would burst through the back door dressed as darth vader and march menacingly to the podium before conducting the rest of the concert with his lightsaber. Absolutely terrified some of the younger kids - best part of the evening.

Acimictravels I'm pretty sure the conductor is conducting the tempo off on purpose only for the instruments in the back since they are above a level and back more from the rest of the band. If the conductor was to conduct the tempo the instruments below are playing at, then the instruments at the back would sound off tempo. So pretty much what the conductor did was probably told the instruments on his level to listen to snare for tempo while the conductor himself figures out a place that would make him above tempo but make the instruments in the back above level, sound in tempo with the rest of the band.

2020 Corona Crisis and Pandemic worldwide. I'm sitting here, listening maybe the most know film music, and cry (about the genius John Williams). Who said globalisation is only bad? Without that fact and the internet, it wouldn't bring me to the "Fricsay Ferenc Városi Fúvószenekar" an orchestra from Szeged, Hungary. Which brings me to Ferenc Fricsay a formerly well known conductor born in Budapest, Hungary. That brings me to, "The world is a village!" and what are nations good for (except organising our daily life)?. We are all children of this one blue unique and so vulnerable EARTH! Agree execution wasn't that good here. But generally speaking, it doesn't have to be that fast. "Ode to joy" flashmob was similarly slow but much better still.
