I found TLJ slightly irritating because now I payed attention to all the retreads and TROS was just akward for its fanservice. It was me who was changing and maturing during those years. Nothing changed about the theater. Still that one reaction is quite telling... By making TROS the way they did, they did not bring old fans back; they also annoyed the new ones from TFA and TLJ away. Like is there anyway to bring stakes back to Star Wars after the ridiculousness of Episode 9?

@@Fitchy-ke3wz I really don't get this argument. In TFA Maz Kanata tells Rey that whomever she's waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back. Rey then runs away crying because she doesn't want to face the truth. Meaning her parents are either dead or not coming back because they don't want to. And imo making her a no-one is the best choice. It allows her to stand on her own as her own character and have a potentially powerful arc where she could learn to accept herself as a person and that her parents not loving or caring about her doesn't define her sense of self-worth. But nah, Rey Palpatine tho.

Especially with Anakin and Padme! The new movies also have some questionable lines. But I don't cringe while watching them. But when I watch episodes 2 and 3 I get cringe goosebumps in some scenes :/

@@RamielDerLinke I think they fly now is pretty bad, especially as the characters know and have seen TFO with jet packs. I don't like sand isn't bad by itself, its when you add the rest. Oh there is definitely cringey dialogue in the OT, the dialogue in the OT is often appalling. Alec Guinness and Harrison Ford were always complaining about it. It's the reason wht Harrison Ford said "I know" in ESB. However, again, by now they should know how to write good dialogue I definitely cringe, especially when the dialogue isn't only bad but also modern sounding which breaks the immersion. Finn asking Rey "do you have a cute boyfriend" is up there with some of the prequels, it is so immersion breaking and bad. Prequel dialogue at least makes sense within that world and it feels like a separate world to ours. The ST tries to make it more contemporary and it doesn't work. I also think "it isn't about killing what we hate, saving who is love" is single handily the worst line in the entirety of star wars, even more so than the prequels. Things like "I am all the jedi", "Rey who", "the dead speak" and especially "Somehow, Palpatine has returned" are terrrible. Harrison Ford, Alec Guiness had the talent of saying bad lines well, same with Liam Neeson. Daisy Ridley and John Boyega unfortunately do not
