Matt on g2 played at random. He preferred to put palpatine guard in play... when he could actually ramp and go for +1 in hand, giving the opportunity to go for maul on the next turn... And he also draw a vader on next turn...

Hi there, I am new to the game. at 10:40 Sundeep deployed Han and attacked with him. Is that correct? I thought the leader unit cannot attack straight away. Thanks for clarification.

Their opponent had taken the initiative so they couldn't take anymore actions, at that point the Han player can take as many actions in a row as they can before passing for the round themselves

Part of me wants to think that Matt was simply reiterating to sundeep they have the initiative already or that they were simply nervously touching each of their resources and then the initiative token as it's a high pressure situation

Yes, he can pick any three. He decided to roll to help make his decision of which three to choose.

Great video as always. Am I missing something though? Why didn't the Palp player put the reinforcement walker out at the end of game 3 to heal 4? Had to have seen Tech/DJ coming right?

He was fixated on killing Qi’Ra to get out Vader. Yes he could have flipped Palp or Walkered but game was still pretty much over.

I would have sac Yularen after playing it then ping Han so I could steal it next turn with Palp flip

I am looking to get into SWU but trying to understand the series of events from 4:35. Sundeep taps Leader Han to add a resource. Matt takes Initiative ending his turns this round. Sundeep deploys tapped Han (because of his Epic Action) Sundeep attacks with Leader Han immediately without being tapped until the next round? I think im just under the assumption that tapped cards are unusable until the next round and that thinking is wrong.

Leader units always enter play ready. The epic action does not requiring the leader to exhaust so you can use the leader ability and deploy them ready in the same turn.

Yes, it would have come in exhausted, but Matt scooped before Sundeep finished paying all of the resources for DJ.

@@WithASixStringOnMyBack My apologies. I thought you were referring to the end of the game when Sundeep smuggled DJ into play. In R1, the resource that replaced DJ did come in exhausted. This is why Sundeep didn't play a card in R1. He had used Han's action ability to go up to three resources, wanted to play something that cost three. Then Scanning Officer came in and sent him back to only two ready resources.

Matt should have deployed Pappqtine to steal the damaged Han who could have killed Qi’ra allowing him to play Vader and essentially wipe Sundeeps board and get his resource back from DJ.

You are correct. Han was not damaged. So Matt had to take an action to get damage on one of Sundeep's units, and that is what left the door open for DJ to smuggle in and take the resource from Matt.

Matt used the action ability on Emperor Palpatine, which allowed him to draw a card. This was the last action of the round. So it was just before the regroup phase when both players went to draw their two cards.

Maybe I'm not a great SWU player, but giving up at 10 health to a board that he cannot ever answer? Really? Maybe this game is not that great after all...?

At that point it was 20 damage if he did not pull a ground sentinel. I think it was probably a little soon as well, but I don't know what cards he had on hands. It's a card game and the RNG would get you sometimes

Palpatine can be a slow deck, and deploying Palpatine effectively usually means stealing something valuable from your opponent. Conversely, Han is all about playing effectively above the resource curve. In the third match, Palpatine didn't get significant resource ramp, and the Han player managed to fairly effectively flood the board, make Palpatine's only deploy choice a sub-optimal one, and then played down the Han unit which can be pretty devastating if you don't have an immediate answer, as he takes no damage back when he attacks and defeats a unit. Basically, a slow deck played against a fast deck, and got outpaced. It happens. The second game is a good indicator of what happens when the slow deck can safely ramp and stabilise.

I wholeheartedly believe this is a fantastic game. This particular game was just a tough one for Matt. He did not have the answers he needed in hand to slow Sundeep down and felt it was just best to move on to the next game. Unfortunately, games like this happen in all TCGs from time to time.
