Star Wars Unlimited Starter Deck Review and Opening: Spark of Rebellion Two-Player Starter

Star Wars Unlimited is finally here! In this video I open a Spark of Rebellion Two-Player Starter and discuss the contents of the product and my thoughts on whether you might want to pick one up.
One note that didn't make it into the main video: Based on TCGPlayer prices as of my posting this video (3/29/2024), if you were to buy just full playsets of the starter-exclusive cards, the price of those singles would exceed that of buying the starter -- and you wouldn't get any of the deck boxes, tokens, or other cards!

the answer, at least right now, is yes. the exclusive cards it contains cost more than the kit by themselves.

Yep, I note that in the video description! If you know you don't want to play with those cards you might skip it but overall I would consider picking up the set pretty worthwhile.

The Exclusive cards also come in the weekly play packs.

It's absolutely worth getting, IMO. Tokens and deck boxes are pretty poor quality compared to what I have come to expect from FFG.......but the decks are constucted rather well. Since it's highly unlikely that your local game store has any more pre-release kits, it's the only way you can get Luke and Vader. Great entry point into the game.

I do think the deck boxes are inferior to those in the pre-release kit... however, past FFG starters haven't had deck boxes at all if I recall correctly, so in that aspect it's an upgrade!

@@TowerNumberNine sure but we haven't really seen a CCG from FFG as most of their past games were LCGs which have a drastically different distribution model. Destiny could have had them, but with the dice it was kind of wonky. It's cool for what it is, but anyone that is thinking about playing the game a lot will abandon those things in a heartbeat. I would have rather had sturdier punch out counters. Double sided token cards are rather clunky in live play. But, even with those shortcomings, the precon decks are very solid, and that's what matters most. I've played them a lot and have yet to experience a game that was a total blow out

That's fair, the LCGs had kind of a "board game" mentality to their starter sets.

Is there a reason to get more than one? i.e. any rare cards you might want multiples of with the guaranteed pull?

I bought two + three boxes. My reasoning was that I might need cards from the starter set for multiple decks. However, I've yet to crack open the second starter set (I currently have five decks I'm playing with, three competitive, three casual/starter). That all being said, if you're a casual player, there's no need for a second starter set.

For me it was an instant buy. I've already shown 3 people how to play and 2/3 bought there own copies to play
