You were right brother, It´s inspired in the Selknam indigenous people genocide here in Chile, southern Patagonia in the late 19th century. Punkrobot studios is based in Chile and they won an Oscar a few years ago for another animated short. Very proud of them. We have Pedro Pascal and now this beautiful episode of sw visions ! Greetings from Santiago de Chile. Wholesome reaction as always bro

@Kyle Katarn, 14:23 I think the two stars that appear at the end here (12:45) might be the two sisters finally joining their mom and the others--they appear one after the other in the the last few seconds of the episode. This was a very good story. A very sad one, but a very good one too.

I thought so too. If that's true that means they died, right?

I watched this episode on my break at work today. Idk if it was the music or the story but it absolutely floored me emotionally. For a episode that I didn’t like the look of in the trailer, I was blown away with how much I liked it.

So at first glance, texture wise, the short gives of a claymation style to it, but looking up a few article reviews and checking out PunkRobot Studio's other works. The animation style is most likely cg animation. Obviously, I could still be wrong this might be their first ever stop motion production and they did a hell of a job if it is. Cgi animation has definitely come a long way to make textures look real enough. Add to that there's enough stop motion films for cgi animators to replicate or make the animation movement look like stop motion. I've seen a lot Blender KZbin tutorials making renders that look like claymation. Plus Toy Story 4 so far has made realistic looking textures on the toys clothing and plastic frames. I do love the shot they did where the little sister was running towards the main water supply to use the force. The shot had a tilt shift lens affect that made it look like a miniature which adds to the claymation style of the short.

The two stars appearing, in the end, foreshadow the sisters being killed/executed by the Empire for destroying the factory.
@williamspencer1978 Жыл бұрын
I think it actually signals that they died in the flood and that the scene at the end after it fades to white is a spiritual projection of them being able to join their people now that they set the land free

The reality is that the older sister was right. The mother and the rest of their people should not have sacrificed themselves in a futile attempt to stop the Empire. The loss of the water plant and their personnel is meaningless to the Empire and could be replaced quickly. Meanwhile the entire race of natives is extinct.

2:00 Oh, what the fuck?! I thought you knew better than that! You want a Sith Artist? You get Momin. It isn't an accident that all Sith colors are black, red, white, and gray. This was intentional. As was all their windows being spider webs. This is contrasted with the Jedi Temple where there is literally every other color but black and white. Go back and watch. Also, We see Jedi art. What do you think all those circles are about? They have mosaics, stain glass windows, there was once even a tapestry depicting a victory over a Zygerrian Sith. There are ink wash paintings on the walls of the training rooms. Painting with water colors is all about Letting Go. There are *Canonically* Force Sculpting classes that Dooku struggled with as a kid! "Repress emotions"?! “It’s not that we’re not allowed to have these feelings. It’s natural.” - Jedi Master, and member of the Jedi Council, Obi-Wan Kenobi “You must not grow too attached, too fond, too in love with life as it is now. The emotions are valuable and should not be suppressed… but you must learn to rule them, Padawan, lest they rule you.“ - Jedi Master, and member of the Jedi Council, Deepa Bilaba “This man is perverting our sacred teachings to prey upon a vulnerable people. I can think of little my tongue could say better than my saber in this instance.” “Dissolve your hostility, Padawan. Channel your frustrations into an appropriate emotion. Violence, as always, is a last resort.” “Of course. Apologies, Master.” “A fire burns inside of you, Padawn. That, in itself, is not inherently wrong. It is my job to help you temper it.” - Padawan Mace Windu and Jedi Master Cyslin Myr [Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu]
