Thank you! You reminded me my first attempts to control windsurfer 40 years ago. One note for people, looking this. At the moment 2:06, when the girl tries to klimb on the board from water, it is necessary to set the board and yourself so, that wind should blow to your back perpendicular to the board. Otherwise, novice would not have a success, but could be even harmed by mast. In the film you see right position according to wind direction, but author forgot to note that.

I had not been on a windsurf for almost 20years, and I wasn’t that good to begin with. Thanks to this video I was able to sail today.

Good beginner instruction for getting the basics of windsurfing. Thank you. The young boy at the end seemed to be really flying along. A great source of inspiration to improve!

What's tacking? What's gybing? It would help to know what these are, it's not exactly self-evident (or have I missed something?).
@coltoncycotte8681 Жыл бұрын
Tacking is turning into the wind, and gybing is turning away from the wind. Both cause the sail to switch sides.

I know I hate "sailing terms". Even as an advanced windsurfer, I hated working a sailboat. On a boat you have to always "think" and choreograph a few actions. On a windsurfing boarding you can just rely on feel, balance and instincts. You move and correct without thinking a, b, c...etc. Here's an easy way to remember: a.) Tacking = Tilt the sail to the back of the board. What happens? You will turn to your "left" if you stand on the board "normal". Normal meaning left foot forwards. b.) Gybing = Tilt the sail forwards to the front of the board. What happens? You will turn to your "right". Now, Tacking is easier to maneuver for balance, but you will find yourself quickly losing speed and in "dead wind". Beginners don't know to "hold" and sail past this point in the turn. However, beginners should also learn how to Gybe. Awkward at first, but this allows you to go down wind and continue to ride. You will instinctively know when to stop turning and just go straight down wind. Enjoy...all

Hi. I have bought iqfoil set for my daughter, but our set does not have fins and it does not have center fin box. Is the board from the videos modified iqfoil board?
@StarboardWindsurfing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrey, yes the iQFOIL85 is available as SURFACE2AIR model, which comes with centre fin option, or also without, so that the board is lighter for higher performance racing. Both models are class legal. hope this answers your question. bests

Great video. Random question, does it make sense to carry a paddle from a SUP in case the wind drops to zero?
@OnanTheMan Жыл бұрын
It’s probably going to get in the way. You can always paddle back like a surfboard if you get in trouble
