The large cooler is a good 32 slot storage item that could replace the avian tomb. It is a 2 block tall by 4 block wide storage container that stacks. That makes it about 2 blocks smaller than the tomb. It also functions as fridge and you can jump on them. Prints for 180 pixels so that might be the only advantage the avian tomb has. I found mine in an underwater hylotl town in an ocean planet. Awesome tips in this video. I really like the idea about placing tiles or painting tiles to help mark containers. Keep up the great work!

Just a quick note. In terms of Space->Storage efficiency, the Racial Storage lockers are the best in the game, with an efficiency rating of 4. To find a container's efficiency, just divide its footprint by its storage capacity. (in the case of the Racial storage, 4x3=12, 48/12=4) Interestingly, the 2x2 chests with 16 slots that you find almost everywhere are just as space efficient, if a little less convenient

+Demogarose True but for just a tiny bit more space you get more slots with the vault. So I feel it's more of a preference thing. That is why I state that in my opinion these are the best storage options. But yes you are correct, Racial Storage is mathematically the best storage. :)

Large coolers are the best food storage imo most ships excluding a few have tiny 16 block rooms in it once it's upgraded enough. You can fit 10 large coolers in them. They can be found in underwater villages and hold 32-36 items and can be printed. Sorry for the mess of writing love your videos

Actually if you want an alternative to this with 48 slots you can use the storage crates you can buy at friendly ships, these have a footprint of 4x6=24 blocks while the lunar/outpost lockers have 5x5= 25 blocks. some of these look really nice depending on your taste ofcourse, but i think its worth to check it out

I think the reason why you can't stack the Avian Tombs and Frontier Vaults is because you can't stand on every block's worth of space on the top.

As of update 1.3 the frontier vault can be found on novakid saloons in space, just have to get lucky with the space anomalies.

You can stack the vault doors now though, and you can also buy 48 slot racial equivalent astro things through the pixel machine.

hmm interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I've been using the coffins since I find them for free so often. Didn't know I could print the vault like that. It might be my next up grade in game. My home base and ship is a mess of containers at the moment.

Starbounder says it's unobtainable, and I've been to around 10 villages and never seen it.

Well that sucks. Maybe it is getting added in a future patch. Cause the villages were actually in the game before they added them in to spawn normally.

where do you find a frontier chest? novakid villages I assume, but I've never seen one in a novakid village just regular safes

I would assume Novakid villages. But if you don't want to wait you can spawn one in and scan it using /admin then /spawnitem frontiervault. Then /admin again. I still have yet to find a novakid village. Been all over the place and no luck.

Just did some digging because this was buggin me. Looks like this is in the nightly build. So if you are playing nightly you should be able to find it. Those who are not will need to wait a bit. I saw them on the wiki and saw the not that says they were not in the game yet but I assumed that was dated info. I figured they got added in with the novakid villages. But it appears they did not. Sorry for the slight misinformation.

There is a video, I believe the credit belongs to firespark, but basically, do the erichus mission, take the teleporter back to the 2 stop teleshop, run all the way to the left of the structure where you entered the ark, and "return to gate". It takes you back to the erichus mission end, and you can claim the loot from the chest again. Decent odds of 20 bars of tungsten showing up in the chest. An exploit, but it is clean

I'm at durasteel stage right now, and I better prefer storage lockers on my ship atm. Also I've just learned about scanning and pixel-printing just a couple days ago ... How did I play before? :D Concerning lockers, I wouldn't say they are expensive: as of now (1.3) they cost only 1 Durasteel and 1 Silver, and Durasteel turned out to be really easy to get. You are correct you can find the BP for the lockers in the mining facility.
