This story was fascinating. Having lived overseas for decades, I learned to enjoy, and even to make some things that were unknown to my family. Some of the things my family ate and produced were considered exotic or repellent overseas, like clam chowder. Some things I learned to like and produce overseas, like curries and kimchi were not appreciated by most of my family. This was a nostalgia trip as well as great SciFi.

The dad knows what's going on, he knows his son's going to be a little bit resentful and so forth but he's banking on the fact that his son is going to influence the academy and build a human's reputation on an academic level. By introducing humans on an academic level versus a military or political level more and more political and military leaders are going to seek to build a relationship.

As with all, an enjoyable story, well narrated with detail to keep one involved. I particularly enjoyed the paen to croissants, took me back to 1956 in Paris. I was a 10-year old Canadian Air Force brat posted to S.H.A.P.E. H.Q., living in Versailles close to the palace. Being the eldest I was detailed to cross the street every morning to the bakery just up from us to buy croissants for breakfast. Your description brought back many mornings eating buttery still-warm croissants from the oven. Thanks for the memories. You did the croissants justice. Now my mouth is watering.... even 68-year old memories have power.

Your stories continue to amaze, and the artful use of sound effects seem to pull me into the story itself. Not so loud that they overpower the narration, and not so subtle that they can't be heard. This isn't just a story being narrated. This is the sort of art that sounds like you can walk straight into it and see another world. Reapers taste kinda like the stereotypical cotton-candy flavoring to me, though with a lot more tingling and heat. Takes eating a couple of them to fully adjust to them so you can properly taste the flavors. I really wish I could find some that weren't basically unobtainably expensive in my area.

i am super skeptical of some of his eating choices. I wouldn't recommend eating E. coli cultures regardless of the fact that they live in and play a vital role in our digestive function. i know i'm just supposed to go with it that come on, some caution is realistic. Monarch butterflies for example eat milkweed which is toxic to humans. some bears, deer, and raccoons even eat poison ivy both the leaves, its berries and its stems. meanwhile we get rashes if we even so much as come in contact with its roots in the winter when it has lost its leaves. worse with bacterial contamination you're probably not going to immediately gag and get sick. it takes time for it to multiply and cause you problems, so you can eat it and enjoy its tangy taste and then tomorrow you'll be in the hospital with a major bacterial infection. as someone that works in the lab, our good friend E. coli who normally lives in our intestines is also one of the most common source of bacterial contamination. another common source of infectioon is Staph. aureus who make up normal flora of about 10% of people. Staph is an especially bad bacteria to get infected with as can do a LOT of very bad things to you. yes we can handle lots of bacteria but a lot of bacteria can handle us real good too, even if it is possible for it to live in or on us without causing trouble.
@kohakuaiko

🤷🏼‍♀️ It all depends on the strain. My biology professor in college had us playing with a non-pathogenic strain.
@sakisaotome6753
@sakisaotome6753 6 күн бұрын
@@kohakuaiko any bacteria that gets to where it doesn't belong can make you sick. the E coli from your gut can very easily be the cause of a UTI if you dont practice proper hygine. for example. and even if you are among the 10% of people who have Staph aureus living in/on you, if that staph gets somewhere it shouldn't you will definately NOT be happy about it. opportunistic infections also occur especially if your gut flora gets unbalanced like when you are on antibiotics which causes an overgrowth of certain bacteria which can cause you problems such as antibiotic associated diarrhea. but im sure this could also happen if you injested a bacterial culture of the kind that can cause you problems as they would have the numbers to overtook the more pleasant majority. the thing is the guy in the story didn't know if he was eating lactobacilli (found in yogurt) or Y. pestis (the cause of the black plague) he just accepted some random bacterial culture and eat it. thats about a safe as seeing some berries going on a tree and eating a handfull of them. that is why when it comes to eating berries in the wild the saying is if you dont know what it is DONT EAT IT.

Yeah, or the crystal thing, which sounds like it potentially contains some heavy metals in concentrations that could cause some serious issues long-term.
@sakisaotome6753
@sakisaotome6753 5 күн бұрын
@btgbullseye I hadn't thought of that. That's very true. Even if it us normal minerals our bodies can handle, the body can only take so much. The amounts needed to sustain a creature that you can interact with is against certainly gonna be WAY too much. Working in the lab we have certain thresholds for normal too little or too much for many of the minerals/metals in our body is considered a critical result which a doctor needs to treat immediately. B some of those include sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, & posphorus. There are others too. Too much copper will cause literal copper ring to form around your eyes. Too much potassium will likely cause your heart to beat like crazy and kill you. Too much of some of those minerals It could literally alter your body chemistry, it could affect your pH which will cause lead to other bad things happening. And if course there are the heavy metals you mentioned. Lead and even gold will have majorly bad effects on you. Another thought I had was that if it's crystalline what if it was sharp? Last thing I want to do is cut my mouth trying to eat mineralized crystalline glass
@sakisaotome6753
@sakisaotome6753 5 күн бұрын
Another thought I had was the yeast used to rise the bread. We generally use specific molds and yeast that we know are safe. Some yeast and bacteria make for example H2S gas alongside or instead of CO2. Hydrogen sulfide is what gives rotten eggs that wonderfully potent smell. So while it will bake and raise the bread the last thing you want to do is pull out wonderfully liking croissants that smell and taste like rotten egg (or really bad farts)

Maybe you guys could do some videos were some characters take part in a food eating contest. What happens in the stories depends on the characters and the scenarios involving those characters. Were there could be a prize that the character may like the look of and not realize that there is an ingredient that could the character addicted to the food in question or something. Or it could make a female character (like Frairen and/or Miss Rimiki) go into "heat" and that could lead to some problems if not treated in time.

Brock's constant whinging about his father's influence is getting tiring. He is too self opinionated to be realising his father loves him and wants everything for him, and his father probably feels guilty that his naval career has kept him away from Brocks younger years and so he wants to make up for it. BROCK GROW UP and accept that your father is doing his best FOR YOU. As a father I see this from his fathers viewpoint.
@zara983
@zara983 6 күн бұрын
it's not like you once weren't a resentful teenager/young adult that felt like your parents had way too much of a hand in your business - and arguably in Brock's case it must be worse as essentially a pampered rich kid cause he can't even feel like he got to the academy of his own merit or ability. It's painstakingly obvious in everything from his very presence there to the nature of his housing that the fathers influence is everywhere - of course Brock would have some resentment towards his father - who wouldn't dislike feeling like their life is to serve their parents purpose? Not saying that's the reality of it, but that is what everything would point to for him. It would be much weirder if Brock DIDN'T have complaints about that aspect.
