În my country you read the word exactly how it is spelled. There is no room for mistake or confusion, if someone spells the name wrong we are entitled to have another cup with the name spelled correctly.

When I used to work as a barista at Starbucks. I never misspelled any person name because most customers tell me how to spell their name.

Lmao I can tell you right now that’s completely false. I’ve worked at Starbucks for years and if we misspelled someone’s name we would actually have to apologise to the customer! Also the tills have auto correct for names and stuff now.

Bro, it was never a marketing thing. It's always up the the Barista. Sometimes they get bored and misspelling your name if you annoy them a little is the only fun they get. People with a sense of humor will post it and laugh and those without will get upset.
