That design kind of looks like an office building cafeteria. The seating table at 0:10 looks like what you see in a pre-school, where the kids are painting or playing with toys together. Is that what customers want? I always thought a coffee shop is with darker colors, with a warm and coziness, where people can relax and chat. This has the look and feel of the breakfast buffet at the Holiday Inn Express. Those chairs must have all the comfort of being strapped into the electric chair, just before they turn on the juice.
@debellatios10 ай бұрын
I agree with you and really miss the cozy Starbucks vibes from the late 90s. I think it's the 90/10 rule - don't spend 90% of your time and resources on 10% of your customers. I worked as a consultant on the mobile order feature nearly 10 years ago and our research showed that fewer than 4% of regular Starbucks customers ranked "a comfortable place to work and/or socialize" as a priority when visiting a store. Starbucks told us that in 2000 it was a priority for nearly 7 in 10 of their customers. It went from 70% to 4% in about 15 years.

Some of the Starbucks in the Santa Barbara area have recently remodeled. I don't like the new design. It's way too urban looking. When you go to a Starbucks in a relatively small city, you don't want to feel like you're in New York City or something. Small town Starbucks should have a small town charm. Starbucks could definitely take lessons from Trader Joe's stores, which are very good at keeping the local area in mind.
