A general rule, no matter the role, is to not delay your buffs in any case unless mechanics prevent you from using those buffs. You should not worry about melees being in position - they are hitting the boss the moment countdown hits 0, and not aligning buffs wastes damage.

Not quite sure that's what he meant. Buffs are timed in the opener (if you're using community-consensus openers at least like from the Balance) to maximise the potency for each job within those buffs, and buffing exactly on cooldown is on purpose to keep that window of maxed damage aligned. You should not in any Extreme-up content buff when the countdown hits zero, you'll be missing the back couple of GCDs of other people and buffing their crummy setup initial hits.

I'm a new savage raider and this was my first tier all by myself, PF pain. This fight is the only fight I did once (M4S too but that's because I got weapon and mount on my first clear and didn't need anything else, needed a break) it took me many pulls to start getting Final Fusedown because most PF's would either not get there or get there barely so I couldn't practice it enough, Fusefield surprisingly I understood quicker. I had a 0.01% enrage wipe and 0.04% on this fight, so much time wasted, so many frustrations, it took me 3 months since release to beat the tier due to that plus me of course learning but I couldn't be prouder of myself, I also had terrible luck with look always rolling in the 10's and 20's and not getting anything so that added to the frustration. I told myself "once you get to M4 and beat it you will get weapon and mount because you've put so much work you earned that shit" and voila, first clear, weapon and mount with a 99. I was out of there and never touched savage again, that was early Oct. My brain needed that break. Having said that, this is such a cool way to go at the fight with a friend, wish I had a bro to play like this but hey we take what we have, freaking GRATS and good luck on M4S!!

PF can be very draining. Sorry you didn't have the best of experiences, but savage can also be extremely fun. I normally only do with a static group. For two main reasons. One, I love the vc banter, two, I sometimes just can't deal with PF. But that's also on me. Congrats on the tier clear, and hopefully better experiences in the future!

I wish I could get a static but I simply cannot commit to it, some days I just don't wanna play or whatever and that's gonna drag others down and I can't see myself doing that to others. Maybe if they were like close buddies that also played the game but I have no one irl that does. At times I was at my breaking point with the frustration of PF but I kept going. More annoying and frustrating when you hear others getting their clears and gear or totems (for ex's) in a few days only while I'm struggling to find a party to get to certain point to learn barely, it's like wth... Where do I find that luck lol. But thank you I appreciate the comment, now I'm debating if I should do next tier when it releases or wait. I'm jobless right now and it's been rough mentally so I'm not sure if I can bring my A game to it but I want to try, a lot of fun comes from doing them as they release feels like we are all fighting together. I'd need to figure out how to buy a crafted set got no gil or try alliance farming since I'm not Bis. We shall see... It's getting me anxious thinking about it.

@@LightyGab keep that head high! Hopefully irl situation gets better. Would say week one can be good, people mostly want to get things done, so you might find a lot more parties very consistent, but also overall will ask more of your performance too. Mostly, try to have fun with it really. Don't push yourself too much. If there's no fun, then it really isn't doing the good part of videogame. Is rough if you don't feel like getting into a static either, but am sure you can have an overall good experience in pf, even better if you can find one or two in game friends that go at it with you. PS: If you on europe data centers I can craft a set for you ^^

@@RTuga02 Yeah my expectation is not to get a tier cleared in one week because my brain takes longer to learn stuff since I'm always by myself learning, haven't tried with a group that could make things easier maybe explained so won't say I'm unable to clear week 1, I know I can put in the work if the motivation is there but on PF? Nah, it's a lottery for me, I don't know where those people get so lucky finding good groups xD. I'm in NA but... EU players can meet NA players in Materia DC... so I wouldn't say no to that if you truly could spare that.

The people that I know did tiers week 1 on pf...just no lived it, we talking from waking up till bed time just doing it. xD I don't do week 1 clears either, took my group a bit more than a month to finish the tier, trying all fights blind at least for a day or two. Am in a rather casual static group, that only raids 3 times per week, 2 to 3h per day. Being in a group doesn't mean you have to commit a lot of your time. There are a lot of more casual groups for people that are busier, like, I work the entire day, the entire week, can't do more than this.

blind vs non-blind, no sandbagging, and not running MINE/week 1 gear will all affect prog and clear speed. They've been doing extremes on a harder level than most people do them for a while, vs going into Savage with the average amount of information available to a current player and admittedly a higher average caliber of player than PF
