Starcon Старкон 2016 - RUSSIAN COSPLAY - Part 1

STARCON ( / geekersvideo ) aka Старкон is a multi-genre convention held in St Petersburg Russia. Fans not only dress in cosplay but build backdrops and sets based on their favorite franchises. There are various physical games and stunts going on throughout the convention, including laser tag, a ropes course, and VR games. Skaters and bmx bikers were jumping over cosplayers. A pole-dance competition resulted in a PS4 prize. Attendees were shooting arrows at a volunteer batman. There was a cosplay fitness competition where cosplayers showed of their costumes and muscles. And there were 3 cosmonauts in attendance. Starcon was pretty crazy and pretty cool.

This surprises me that there is such a (seemingly) large cosplay culture in Russia, particularly featuring many characters originated in the US. Many were HIGHLY detailed. One character that struck me by surprise was "Hulk Hogan", both in his representation and the fact that Hulk was a formidable celebrity in the US in the 80's.

Russia is more than ground down industrial suburbs and Moscow. St. Petersburg is more European in feel. Also much closer to Europe geographically.

Я бы не стал превозносить косплей своей страны выше других (даже, если бы это являлось истиной). Да, косплей хорош, но это же - только начало. Давайте не будем забегать в будущее и кричать "Россия, вперёд!" Лучше, как мудрые люди, спокойно подождать и посмотреть, как будет развиваться данная деятельность. Да, мне тоже очень всё понравилось, да, я не могу скрыть гордости за наших косплееров (девчонки вообще зажгли), да, я, чёрт возьми, наконец дождался видео БДБ в России, но всё-таки я не написал "Вот так надо делать косплеи!", потому как хочу, чтобы это было не последним приездом их сюда.

Я бы разделил понятия качество косплея и раскрученность финансовых потоков вокруг этих шоу.. Так вот качество многих косплеев у нас не хуже (а на самом деле часто лучше), а про отыгрыш образа вообще сравнивать не с чем - за рубежом это направление практически вообще не развивалось. Это можно видеть как данная группа канала офигела от дефиле на сцене и пошла снимать в итоге сцену (а не по привычной схеме) ;)

Лица красивые, костюмы сделаны мастерски, отыгрыш тоже на профессиональном уровне. НО: организация хреновая - очереди, теснота, низкие потолки, отвратительный свет в помещениях (последнее просто бросается в глаза, когда сравниваешь ролики, снятые в США и в России одной и той же техникой и командой).

FOX HOUND he say wrong think. To own gun u have to ways: 1. Get non-lethal gun license in National Guard and buy Non-lethal handgun(pistol, revolver) 2. Get hunter’s ticket. And you can buy smoothbore gun (like shotgun). After 5 years with this gun you can get new license for rifled barrel weapon, but: 1. Long gun(handguns prohibited). 2. If you buy gun like Saiga or AK they have only semi-automatic fire. And only magazine with 10 rounds. (But... it’s russia and smb buy magazine on 30 rounds). To get both license you need about 1-2 mouth. Check on mental health, criminal record, age 21, attend courses, pass the exam, buy a safe. (And something else.) For Hunter you need also join to hunters club and something else. But... i’m work in police, so i just go to my To the chief, I ask the certificate that I am the police officer, I bring in guard and I don't need to pass examinations. Also, I can get a license before the age of 21, because I can go to work at 18. You also need to check in with the district inspector, if something is connected with the shooting, then immediately come to visit you, your weapon in the database, so that the found ammunition will find you . And the old joke «Self-Defense-a way to get even more sentence in prison than the attacker». Your gun should by empty, to use it you need: 1) Take gun. 2) Load 3) “Stop or i will shot you” 4) Fire, but nor head, nor heart, nor dick and balls and more more more where you cant shot+if i correctly remember u cant shot from distance less then meter. 5) also, mb, in public places with hidden gun prohibited. I really appreciate videos like this because then we get to see whats going on in other countries cosplay events i doubt ill ever make it to a Russia cosplay event. It seems like certain things are more popular in some countries than others. Youll see cosplays in Japan that arent really done in the USA, and so on. Im seeing some here you really dont see in the USA Like the El Dorado cosplay there. I can really appreciate that certain things impact certain cultures more than others. And they did it very well. But i dont really want to single them out and no one else. I see a lot of absolutely beautiful costumes in this video. Actually id say theyre all beautiful except for the skanky ones. It looks like some girls in Russia are just as sleazy as they are in the USA. Thats sad. Oh yeah and you guys have AWESOME events. We dont have shit like that here. No rock climbing and extreme sports events to watch. Thats cool. But at certain events we do have so much going on that having stuff like that would just be too much. Like NYCC. I can never get to everything i want at NYCC so i have to pick priorities. Sometimes things you want happen at the same time and you have to pick between them : ( 2:01 actually i do have to single her out, because she is a gorgeous, sexy older woman and i very much appreciate that she is cosplaying. And my god she just looks so terrific. I love cosplay so much. Which brings me to another thing. Watching your video is helping to motivate me. Im supposed to be going to Kupocon in TWO WEEKS and im a little behind in repairing my costume. This is helping me get amped by making me feel the joy and excitement of it. So thanks for that. PS, that Robin is quite attractive.
