Theres a reason Gumiho is being slower APM wise, he have hyperhidrosis which makes him sweat excessivly from his hands. Thats also the reason he got known as the "Towel Terran" since he played with a towel over his mouse to combat this. He clearly doesnt let that stop him tho, what a god.
@PathOfMathias Жыл бұрын
From his Luquidpedia page. He was nicknamed "Towel Terran" by Artosis during the GSL August qualifiers because he plays with a towel on his mouse, due to hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the hands)

Creep is living material connected to the hive mind that's why commanders can see through it. That's why zerg units can move faster on it, it's a physical connection to the hive cluster.
@ManDuderGuy Жыл бұрын
I just figured it was real nice and grippy for their little zerg feet.
@atrudokht Жыл бұрын
@@ManDuderGuy as for me, I think it as kind of slippery which allows the zerg units to slide faster like ice skating
@Catman_CM8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I don't know what the "physical connection to the hivemind" does to increase speed. I imagine it's not slippery as much as it is that every step each unit takes gets a physical push from the creep. This would make each step move* them farther, sort of like how walking on those moving sidewalks they have in airports works. Edit: typo
@Catman_CM8 ай бұрын
Actually, thinking about it further, I think that's exactly how having a "physical connection to the hivemind" would increase movement speed. And also, explain why their opponents are *not* slowed down by the creep: no hivemind connection

@justsomeguy1671 Жыл бұрын
26:30 I always imagined creep was like stiff rubber, kinda the equivalent of formula 1 tyres to asphalt. It would be perfect for zerg limbs allowing them to shove thier feet into it and pivot and run wherever and the creep would be aware of what was on it and would either be slippery for terran or toss but would firm up and assist the zerg to push off of it. Cuz we already know that the creep knows theres a zerg or diff race on it. Cuz it gives vision.
@elijahpeck3540 Жыл бұрын
Lore time! Creep is not in fact slippery. It has cilia (micro hair) that zerg units also have on their feet, giving them extra traction, hence the movement speed boost.

I have never seen Reynor on the back foot look like this all game even when he should have map control with mass muta, gumi was just everywhere and reynor was struggling to split his mutas properly. I guess this just goes to show that speed isn't everything.

The only way to effectively deal with Mutalisks as Terran Mech is to ignore them and pour on the harassment, as you see here. Mutas do too much: they move too fast, deal too much damage, heal too quickly, and have too much health for all of their advantages for Terran Mech to really deal with them via Thors, and it doesn't make sense to make Vikings since you won't be able to handle Zerglings if you make Vikings in enough quantity to handle them. So sticking around on the Battlemech army and pouring on the harassment while treating the Mutalisks as a tax on your economy is the best way to deal with them. They can't be everywhere at once, and if they have to stay on defense they won't ever be able to go across the map to kill your SCVs. What Gumi did here feels correct: constantly attack the Zerg economy in multiple places and keep enough Cyclones around that if the Mutas ever split you can take out the group of Mutas that split in the direction of the cyclones.

I mean looking back, at the pro level back in WoL, and HotS the average APM for pro players was 250-300, nothing wrong with that. All the apm in the world doesn't matter if you can't use them properly. WhiteRa back then played slower APM wise back then but he could still give others a run for their money.

Gumi is a terran with a zerg mindset. Also APM is not a good metric for efficiency. You could just repeatedly click on useless actions. Its like someone who shouts to the world I did 10k on my step counter But eats a dozen donuts afterwards.
@antto9218 Жыл бұрын
you can say gumii is slower than the average pro player but he really compensate in his decision making, he does stuff like those banshee moves that require less apm to do than to defend against, basically nullifing any speed advantage they might have

You should get yourself the remastered version and play through the campaign of Brood War. They actually did it justice by not changing pretty much anything except the fact that you no longer have the map editor :) ... Do not even comment Roaches or something else, as engagements turn impossible and harrass all over the map does not even let a Zerg player to commit on prolonged battles to reduce the mech count. You mentioned in a video earlier this week about someone having 600 apm, and today that Guhimo's 300 is slow. I will say it again if you're doing nothing in 400 of those 600 apm, then it's pointless. They literally do it for a stat number. yes they are good players, but APM is in no way a measuring stick for how good or not they are.
