"It seems like Disruptors are worse and worse the better the opponent becomes." A good summary of Disruptors. When I play Protoss (Terran is my off-race), my Disruptors are either INCREDIBLY broken or INCREDIBLY useless, and it has almost NOTHING to do with my own skill. It's just whether or not the opponent is paying attention and either splits or backs off from Disruptor shots. I'm convinced that Disruptors are a garbage unit and a giant mistake. So many Protoss problems would be resolved by simply removing them and putting Reavers back into the game.

Yeah, when firing novas getting 1-2 marines won't cut it. You need to get a big chunk of the army to make it worthwhile. Spamming disruptor is even more disastrous, you have no more money/psi to fund your army and you just spray and pray all the time. It's a pitiful sight to see.

@@hydraulichydra8363 Yeah, it's just pretty unsatifying to have a unit that's mean to be an aoe hard-hitter with a sizeable gas and supply cost and massive drawbacks in its vulnerability and 20s cd between attacks only to micro it aggressively to kill two marines. It often feels like you do all that work to have a tank that has shorter range, higher cost, less ability to defend itself, less overall damage, and can miss.

@@maxchaotic On flat ground, Disrupters outrange tanks if they shoot _just_ outside and clip them with the radius. That might've changed since their nerf but Idk.

At ~ 49:55 (6:10 in game) or so, Classic probably should've made photon cannons instead of shield batteries, since he already had a forge up and he desperately needed detection in his mineral line.

FYI recall is not putting units in random locations, units on the right side of the recall will be on the rights side of the nexus etc. :) Protoss can control how the units are positioned to certain degree

Noob Question Incoming: I have noticed that pro players tend to toss their disruptors into the front of the battle where they get sniped off pretty easily at times. Like in the last moments of this game. Is there a reason for that? Is it to soak up damage for the other attacking units since they can't attack for period of time? Or is it just mismanaging the micro? I can only assume controlling everything is very difficult for protoss. However, it does feel like I see many times in pro games, disruptors get picked off for free more than any other unit in the game when they should be behind other units in a safer position.

One big reason you see this is because disruptors can no longer move while they are channeling their ability So while the rest of the army is being microed the disurptors stay in front. They also have a maximum range and take a while to blow up so you can’t exactly just put them way in the back. They do have like the longest range in the game but that only goes so far
