To sum everything in conclusion in StarCraft 2, Zerg have continued with their usual goals of evolution while avoiding inhabited worlds, Raynor and Kerrigan are never to be seen again, The protoss have set aside their differences and has became a United faction minus the Tal'Darim. Dominion has better days ahead with Valerian as emperor, and Nova has became an outlaw. So now the Dominion has lost all of their top field operatives and knowing for certain they will be dealing with the Tal'Darim in the future.

After the events of Starcraft: Evolution, Valerian forms an alliance with Overqueen Zagara and has a joint Dominion/Swarm "Compliance Initiative" in order to monitor the new lifeforms on the formerly barren worlds. This occurs after Zagara gets enraged and tears Abathur apart to the brink of death for trying to start a war between the Protoss, Zerg, and Dominion. In the current "Shadow Wars" comic, Niadra, the broodmother who infested the Protoss ship on Kaldur, is still following her last orders from Kerrigan.

Really wish there would be a sc3 one day. Nova's fate, Valerian's rule, Raynor and Kerrigans relationship, Tal'darim's revenge on the dominion etc... but that wouldn't be too hyped if the story is the continuation of this dlc and it seems the zerg's story would be kinda out of place. We all can hope since the story for now is very open-ended!

Not really, I mean not as far as stories go. Jim, Kerrigan, Artanis, all 3 faction minus one splinter faction, it's all wrapped up pretty nicely. I think what you mean is that the universe has much more to expand on and other stories to be told. SC1 and SC2 were specifically about James Eugine Raynor, with a heavy emphasis on the 3 factions as a whole. He's the first character you meet in both games and you're aligned with him 75%+ of the time. The only time you aren't is when you're exploring someone important to James Raynors life, be it friendly or hostile. While the story jumps you into Kerrigan and her interaction with the Zerg, it's from Jim's perspective you sympathize with. Artanis's story is specifically about the state of the Protoss and when that was put to bed, they cleaned the story up with James leaving forever. Now, if they expanded the universe and made an entire game, it would have to be all new factions or the current factions are old and stagnant. As much as we like these characters, you're not going to be as connected with any of them as you are with James Raynor. Like I said, he's your first in game character met, your first friend, and you control his army through his eyes. You simply can't have that with existing characters. Nova was intriguing and they showed so little of her in the game, so a DLC featuring her made sense, but an entire game? That's a lot less when we were controlling species wide dominions or leaders and going to a small sub faction within 1 major faction. Good DLC, bad full game. The only story thread that I would be excited to play is if it was set hundreds of years in the future and the whole Korpulu Sector knows of the Great Emperor Mengsk Jr. who was a man of the people and united humanity like no one else. The renegade James Raynor who would sacrifice everything to keep evil from prevailing and how he went from a lowly backwater Marshall to the Malitia leader known to boldly aid the Dominion on pushing the Zerg fleets back. Kerrigan, the powerful Zerg Queen turned God to save every life in the sector. All of these are legends that give inspiration to a new host of main characters and their struggle from a boring, beuracratic, stagnant mess that has fallen all 3 races as something happens to spark the sector into full war. Anything else would feel like a half story or offshoot of what we've already done.

There are a couple of potential story threads left to explore: The UED sending out a proper invasion force into the Koprulu sector. The expeditionary force we saw in Brood War was a pretty bare bones exploratory mission that mostly used local tech to supplement their forces. The Tal'Darim under Alarak doing... whatever Alarak does. Honestly, the Tal'Darim as a faction don't really make much sense in the first place and are all Edgelords but w/e. Broodmother Niadra is still following Kerrigans last command, which means she's slaughtering Protoss left and right (possible Zerg antagonist). Abathur has been put in his place by Zagara but probably doesn't like it and Stukov left Zagaras Brood since his loyalty was only to Kerrigan. Zagara and the Dominion are working together to reseed the devastated planets using a species of psionic creatures mixed with Xel'Naga essence. She is also working in reintegrating the lost parts of Kerrigans brood into the Swarm. The Daelaam are experiencing internal strife because many Khalai feel lost and without purpose after loosing their access to the Khala, there are Nerazim who object the inclusion of the Khalai into their society and want to go back to the old ways and the Purifiers are exploring their own existence. And then there's the Tal'Darim who decided to join the Daelaam before Alarak left who are getting a bit of a culture shock. Basically the Daelaam are a powder keg waiting to blow unless handled very skillfully. In one of the stories outside of the Game, a mysterious figure who has been confirmed not to be Amon was directing the dark Archon Ulrezaj to create creatures that might be a different sort of Hybrid. There might be more, but that's all I can think of for now. The potential for StarCraft 3 might be there, I don't know how it would work though.

@@Salted_Fysh I'm not saying there aren't stories to be told, but does it fit within the entire arc of the 2 games? The first game was about establishing the players and their strife within the sector. The second game was a larger story blossoming from the current conflicts established in the first. Anything they did with a specific faction, or combination of factions isn't going to worthy of the title "StarCraft 3". Maybe StarCraft 2: Daelaam Strife or StarCraft 2: UED Invasion, but nothing they can realistically do would he worthy of the title. It has to continue the epic, but the epic is over. Amon is dead, Kerrigan and Jim are gone, all 3 are at peace. THAT story is over. Much like Red Alert: Tiberium Sun, it would have to be a different branch. It could include the same characters, but the story they were telling in SC1 & 2 is over. I don't see how they can go bigger than having an established character fuse with a God to destroy an evil threat to all of creation. That's pretty much as big as it gets and they topped it off pretty finally. Think about the Diablo universe. There is an eternal struggle happening meaning there can be many games to come and they would all fit nicely within the Diablo story. You wouldn't all the sudden focus on the Barbarians of Arriat and call it a full Diablo game. Let's say they somehow resurrected Anu and Tethemat and they returned to a single being and left Sanctuaty forever. That would be the end for the Diablo story as a whole, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be more storied they COULD tell with lingering demonic lords or whatnot. It just wouldn't be worthy of a full installment or a continuation to the "Diablo" game line. It would be its own entity.

@@snodog00 mh... I don't think raising the scale of epicness is always the answer. Let's take Dragon Ball Z as an example. The show is caught in a loop of having to make the villains become ever more epic and powerful, blowing the previous villain out of the water with each arc so much so that it just becomes really ridiculous very early on. It's hard to care about the progression of the story if everything is always epic and even more epic. Escalation is not always the way forward. The story threads I mentioned are enough to potentially serve as a set-up for conflicts with each race, ranging from Terran against Terran (Dominion - UED) to Zerg vs Zerg (Zagara - Niadra/Abathur) to Protoss vs Protoss (Daelaam vs Tal'Darim and potential civil war). Similarly all these can be used for cross-species conflict. That way, even if there is already an understanding between Dominion, Daelaam and Swarm, you can still set up antagonists from all three sides. You also have the potential for a behind the scenes threat (mysterious manipulator - though to be fair, that one has already been done with Narud) and you have Zeratul-like independent actors who can drive a potentially threatening side-plot forward with Stukov, Nova and Mira Han. (And keep in mind that prior to the appearance of aliens, from the perspective of the UED, the Koprulu sector and all it's conflicts is the boonies, a couple of backwards colonies that aren't important enough to even bother with. If they come in full force, that's no joke.) I'm not saying it's an easy thing to do, but the material is there.

That's what I'm saying. You know what else Toriyama does? Keeps bringing Goku back because without him, it's not really DBZ. That's what I'm saying. While some people may enjoy the Videl and Great Sayaman arc, it's vastly underwhelming and forgettable because Goku wasn't in it. If they continued, guarantee it would have gone to shit fast. You're not getting what I'm saying. It's not about epicness per se, it's about THAT particular epic situation. What can they do to keep that going? Nothing really is my point. If DBZ continued without Goku, it would have been better off being labeled something else, like DBZ: The Gohan Saga, effectively separating it from the original DBZ. A different story with similar people and universe, but something OTHER than just DBZ.

Anybody else think Nova Covert Ops's had the best storyline out of StarCraft II? The rest of StarCraft II felt so cliched, but this one's writing felt much more on par with the original game. Betrayal, manipulation, civil war, etc. If they ever make a 3rd game hopefully the writing will be good!

Yo what did evil general mean by “you could have prevented this, if you listened.”? It seems like it could just be evil “if I was in power you wouldn’t have to deal with this” type deal, but it seems like it was supposed to have more significance than that. Did she plan to have evil space rocks come down and murderize everyone if she was ever found out? Did she have some other kind of contingency plan for if the space rocks showed up? I'm... a little confused by that ending. Nova went rogue, but she says that the Dominion still needs ghosts... so is she going to, like, dispense vigilante justice in their name (doing what needs to be done even if Valerian doesn't like it) or is she truly, fully their enemy now? (Also, I think she _may_ have gone a little too far taunting Alarak there. She should know she can't beat him in a straight-up fight.)

Essentially Nova changed from spec ops to black ops. She's cleaning up the trash of the Dominion and dealing with threats that arise but without official sanction from the Emperor since he has to focus on diplomacy and not being his father. It was first person, but it was originally. Starcraft: Ghost started development for then next gen consoles(PS3, XB360) and PC, was announced, then almost immediately shelved. I'm glad we got some incarnation but never forget what could have been.

None of those answers are correct. After the war, some of the Tal'darim chose to stay with the unified protoss in command of Artanis: the Daelaam. The rest of them are still in charge of Alarak and he has no connections to the Daelaam anymore. They're on different paths and agendas.

The Dominion have seen better days under Valerian Mengsk’s rule. However, Davis managed to cause some damage to the Dominion. She was loyal only to Arcturus and she swore to avenge him by trying to make ppl see Valerian as a fatuous emperor. Valerian though he was trying to fight to reform the Dominion under his father’s corrupt rule but he has his dark secret that may hinder him. That dark secret was when he gained his power and ascended the throne, the people who supported and fought along with him were all his father’s enemies so there will be certainty of a backlash. This is linked to the Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm where he alleged himself to the Raiders, teaming up and befriending Terran outcast Jim Raynor and Matt Horner, and later the Zerg Queen of Blades Sarah Kerrigan. He willingly allowed the latter bring her Primal Swarm with support from Raynor to lay siege to Korhal resulting in the elimination and death of Arcturus at the hands of Raynor and Kerrigan. So Valerian actually has allies from the Terran outcasts, the Zerg Swarm that followed Kerrigan and Zagara and the Protoss under Altanis to a lesser extent in Legacy of the Void in addition to the Dominion force he took with him in Wings of Liberty.

Well the UED is what they need to worry about unless it split apart if its still united then you can expect that they will be back and be a greater threat to the protoss, zerg, and the dominion cause the UED still wants to put the terrans in the dominion under tere control and kill the protoss and zerg ause they see both as a threat. I would like to see a starcraft were it deals with the UED.

@@krystof5271 That was only a small expeditionary force using barebones tech supplemented with Dominion resources. Keep in mind that the Koprulu sector is considered to be a bunch of fringe colonies in the eyes of the UED. The UED is a major militaristic government back on earth. In the words of one of the people involved behind the scenes: The loss of the expeditionary force is an annoyance but hardly puts a dent in the UED's military might. But they got interested once they found out that there are alien races in the sector so they might come stopping by.

The marine suits are designed to be survive space and be prisons first, protection is not their priority. And ghosts have several drugs as well as their psionics which greatly enhance them physically, with Nova being the most powerful ghost besides Kerrigan.
