High level game of StarCraft 2 between Reynor (Terran) and Zerg (Cham). We have seen Reynor playing Zerg and also Protoss recently, but what about his Terran? In this game he's facing off against the winner of Dreamhack Atlanta for the Latin America region in a ladder game.

I am giving Reynor the credit for this new age of pro starcraft. I think after he beat a few top players with his off race, suddenly we got people like Maru talking about his Protoss skills, and even Serral talking about practicing his Terran builds. I am really excited to see how all this plays out.

Being able to use counter strats from multiple fractions is a huge advantage. Idk if tournament rules allow it, but a random pick could force the enemy into scouting. There is a whole new layer of strategy waiting. Almost sad there are only 3 races.

now it's truly rock paper scissors in both units AND race pick. This is the true final level that I can think of when it comes to SC2. Mastering all 3 races enough to use in major competition. He's becoming the Avatar of SC2.

But cham I think definitely could of won that. If he just went across the map the instant the broodlords finished then reynor had nothing Didn’t have ghosts or mec. Marines are good an all but I don’t think the very first unit you can build can counter another race ultimate late game Even zerg needs their own late game. Or at the very least mid game and they are literal are called the swarm

ye, but some tournament like WTL says you have to pick a race prior each bo2(WTL is team based tournament if you not familiar), so you cannot change race in between. But definitely more flexible in term of strategies.

Nah, he he used to use protoss in tournaments but immediately switched to zerg after Serral crushed his protoss 💀. So far I see he is having fun with this race swapping and perhaps he is learning stuff about his opponents, but it's far from the bleeding edge performance he is expected to play at.

Reynor offracing in pro level kinda reminds me of that olympic runner that beat the sprint record speed that no one thought possible before. Lo and behold, *everyone* started beating the record immediately after. Absolute lad right there!

Can you imagine a tournament where our top sc2 players aren't allowed to use their main race but only their other off-races? I'd definitely watch..Even in terran, Reynor's mechanics is insane. I can only at most get to 150 supply in 10 minutes. It's crazy how these top players go beyond.

look at those tactical movement of T, when on creep he splits off 5-6 units and advance with only them, but keeping the rest of the army diagonal to it so if retreating you will get the max surface of army shooting the fastest, its double the apm but its smart tactically and we never see t do this. also insane splits (why its silly splits is the counter to banelings :P

I believe Terran usually choose between a Widow Mine focus and a Tank focus and Reynor chose Widow Mines this game

Tanks are better against Range unit like Hydra and Roach army, Mines is better against lingbane and Ultra/Muta. Thats how Terran utilizer their Factory building time depending on the unit composition from the zerg.

Love your videos Lowko! Love playing the game but watching the pros is about the only sport, E or otherwise, I enjoy! I was hoping to get to Atlanta to see an event. What's the best way to help the Starcraft Community? I was also wondering why you don't see Nydus Worm used to expand a d move Drones? Seems like it'd be a good block from Hellions and Zealots while also making the Zerg more mobile.

Few times in here in last third of game after broodlords where I felt like some zergling runbys would’ve been a cheap way to try to get the zerg back in it. Just felt like he wasn’t able to match aggression of the terran though the terran was vulnerable with a fairly ragtag army. Though obviously he’s working with incomplete information.

I have to say, it's kinda wild that Reynor hasn't gone for some 2 base push strat, given his pretty straight-forward approach.

the 2 base push actually take planning and the right build order or you will get supply blocked easily. I actually saw Heromarine did a 2 base push against Reynor himself playing Zerg and HM was supplied blocked for like 40 second with all 5 racks.

@@tigera6 of course, by straight-forward I don't mean "brainless", I just mean that this frontline busting style is usually a 1-2 base thing for protoss/terran.

@@cancerguy5435 From what I have seen so far, Reynor playing offrace in a more standard way with macro build a tech up. He doesnt do much of all-in or bursting style like the other Terran and Protoss players. Not saying he cant do it, but I havent seen it from him as much.

In "fun" game, I think he already did that against Lambo, maybe during HSC 21. In more "serious" tournament like DH or IEM? Probably not yet for a long while.

it’s interesting how raynor neglects things like the hellbats. A non-terran wouldn’t realize how core they are since they’re cheap fodder. If you main terran you learn it by gold, yet raynor never had to learn that so he neglected bats. It cost him a major fight and almost the game, since they’re bordeline necessary vs broods

I kind of think the game is over at 21:19. Cham's econ get ruined and he never has the money to remake an army at the point. He's on less workers and Mules are just too strong. All Reynor needs to do is trade okayish and not totally throw everything. Cam's mineral count is basically at 200~300 for the rest of the game and he can't just mule a fresh base.

love the different skins on ultra, it looks a lot more like it plays while the more brutal feral vanilla looks like it shouldn't be played so smart and carefully. really dont see why we aint using them for turnaments, just let players decide themselves what they see on their end, aka the skins you choose is only seen by you and the spectator; optionally for all but standard like that

What is more improtant in a SC2 game - getting a strong economy or preventing your enemy from getting a strong economy?

Is this a real question? You have limited resources, so in the early game you have to choose between economy focus or army focus and when to swap from one to the other. If we oversimplify, SC2 is basically a game of rock-paper-scissors and chicken at the same time. Continuing with our over simplification: SlowEcon/FastArmy beats FastEcon/SlowArmy, MediumEcon/MediumArmy beats SlowEcon/FastArmy, and FastEcon/SlowArmy beats MediumEcon/MediumArmy. But it also depends on race, unit efficiency, and playstyle. If we want to make a broad generalization about this, then I'd say: If you have an army comp cheaper/weaker than your opponent's, then it's more important to keep your econ strong since you'll likely lose a lot of units and need to constantly rebuild your army, if you have more durable/stronger units than your opponent then you want to focus on killing their economy, since they'll be relying on being able to rebuild their army quickly and frequently.

For someone who does not follow starcraft 2 at all, if you participate in a tournament are you obligated to stick to one faction? I am used to games like League of Legends where you pick your character at the beginning of each game.

I was surprised that Reynor, unlike high-ranked terrans, paid almost no attention to creep cleaning, even when he had such opportunity. Because of that Cham had over 50% of creep coverage throughout almost all the game
