SCVs have 3D display for what they are building, allowing the pilot to see what needs to be built, and build it faster. Although it takes a while for an SCV to build something like a bunker, in the lore, SCVs are perfect for quickly digging trenches and foxholes.

I'd go with older models putting on extra armor for protection, yeah it's expensive but mules can compensate for the expense

No. Expensive workers would mean doom. Yes they’re vunerable later on, but unless you’re going to pull the boys immediately, the extra cost will put you behind so dramatically that your slight advantage will murder your face. Terran usually has a smaller economy than he other 2 races, so making it smaller will kill the race.

We already have a probe, why not an SCV? Maybe a Heroic option would be the ability to reconstruct a fort/keep over time. During that period, Steve the SCV will have reduced armor, and canceling the build will still result in the full cooldown (probably around 2-3 maybe even 5 minutes)

SCVs need shoulder turrets to deal with discriminating harassment, and killing them should be considered a warcrime so long as they don’t choose to fight.

Fun fact, the Warhound, canonically, was built from an SCV chassis by an engineer on a backwater outpost where a mine kept getting raided by bandits, and when the mining company running the operations was bought by a Dominion corporation, the plans for the Warhound were bought as well.

SCV is both biological and mechanical which makes both medivac able to heal them and other SCVs able to repair them. They can also repair allied protoss vehicles.

Would be cool if you could make "armored scvs" for more risky expansions for like 60 or even 75 minerals depending on how far you want to bufff then without balancing issues. I imagine it'd be interesting for pro play to give players thus choice. Imagine scvs being armored and enduring banelings way easier. I think this would be a more interesting concept instead of just making them better like the loom upgrade does for villagers in AOE 2. They might even walk just like 10-20% slower due to their additional weight. But it might be worth it if you fear lings and banelings running by and might prove a viable defense complimenting a planetary fortress where they can protect the surface as well as body block without getting easily blown up by banelings or hellions.

Mostly, I would just think of the SCV's have the small ability to use laser cutting, basically burning damage for incoming units

the newer SCV's feel like a downgrade, not just because of it's reinforced armor, it's the usage of the laser-cutter replaced for a standard drill, no wonder why they had so many SCV's were built in the beginning of a SC2 round instead of 5

SCVs should have 300 hp, otherwise in the current meta they are completely unusable. I find myself transitioning from them to mass reaper/BC as fast as possible because of how weak they feel right now.
