If you notice, the dialogue at the end is the same exact one which was intercepted and played by the adjutant that you capture in SC2 Wings of Liberty. This is along with one of Mengsk's dialogue with Jim Raynor during the briefing of SC1 Terran Mission 10 (The Hammer Falls)

The dialogue's also used for Mission 8 "The Big Push", I assume that Mission 8 replaced this mission as it ends with the same dialogue of Duke planting emitters and Kerrigan & Mengsk having their back and forth.

I wondered how exactly Duke got the emitter groundside to lure the Zerg to the planet. Him saying that after the platform assault is just confusing, but here it makes sense that you send a ground force to slip through the chaos (as he said it was possible through assaulting the orbital platform), then secure an area planetside. Then when Duke comes down to reinforce your defenses, THAT's when he plants the Psi Emitter.

I always assumed that the assault on the platform was just to create "enough of a ruckus" for ghost teams to slip through and plant the emitters.

Basically, this mission is an interquel to The Big Push and New Gettysburg. However, do mind that the lines 16:52-17:23 are also said in the former mission... however, they do seem to fit more appropriately in here compared to the former mission (as evidenced in expanded universe works like the novel Liberty's Crusade).

Oh ho, an installation mission that's not.... in an... installation. How 'bout that. This, or something like this, should have been kept in, showing Sarah and Jim working together. Frankly, you basically had to take it on their word that they even really cared about each other, as it wasn't ever expounded on at all during the game. Yeah, I only just found out these existed.

Something like this was in the game. Non-base missions in Brood War like "The Battle of Braxis" or stealing the battlecruisers.

Um, Sarah was a Zerg queen in Brood War. Doesn't really seem possible at that point to show Human Sarah and Jim working closely together.

Well, it seems to me that the other guy read one sentence of my original statement, which was the throwaway of an installation mission not being in an installation, thus I ignored most of what HE said, and carried on like he was actually engaging my main point, and just being a general asshole, which is my default state. This is mostly a guess, as this was 2 years ago, and I don't remember my motivation 100%.

You need to download the map file (just google it), and play it as a custom map.

In terms of mechanics, it's called triggers. In terms of lore, it's probably Sons of Korhal's reinforcements after capturing an enemy base and establishing a foothold.
