16:11 Thank goodness the StarCraft 2 campaigns aren't affected by balance changes to online gameplay, because otherwise they would be broken with how many patches SC2 has had.

The worst offender in my memory of balance change affecting campaign is C&C 3 Tiberium War. Because the balance change they made is *increase cost and build time for resource gathering unit* , which slowed the player base buildup so bad that the final mission, which relies on players get their base up and running fast before they lose the objective, become almost impossible to beat.

I can't remember what game it was, I think it was galactic civilizations 3, I played the tutorial to learn the mechanics, and then started up a game and all the games updates made it completely different, the tutorial was useless.

Just want to give a shoutout to store-brand Tastosis on the couch with Raelcun/Tasteless and CovertMuffin/Artosis. They did a great job, but it would be amazing if Tastosis casted a GDQ run.

I never even ended up beating the last level of Brood Wars. You're just surrounded by enemies who constantly nuke/carrier and lightning storm your stuff. I cheated on godmode just to find out that the ending is super bleak.

If you mean the last Zerg level, it's doable. It's just a matter of macro. First you expand immediately. Drone heavily (60+) and start upgrades for hydras and zerglings (especially adrenal glands). Plant down some more hatcheries. Start pumping out hydras/lings until you have like 30 hydras and 60 lings. Then start killing the blue protoss. Begin by taking out his north expansion. Make some mutalisks (around 12). Mass like 70-80 hydras and hit blue's main (make sure to bring overlords). Kill his reavers with the mutas and everything else with the hydras. Once blue is dead you can get like 8-10 possible expansions. From then on out you just expand, make units and keep throwing them against the terrans until they crumble. You're going to lose a lot of units, but with so much resources in the map, it doesn't matter. Personally I kill white after blue and leave red for last. You need some devourers for white because he has bcs and tons and tons of hydras. Keep some hydralisks/mutas in your main base for defence. If you have trouble with nukes, keep some mutas + overlords outside your bases on patrol. Once white is dead, red is pretty much a pushover and dies to a couple dozen guardians + a few devourers.

You know that the casters know a thing or two about Starcraft when they say dragoons are "big, fat, and their AI is dumb." Only those truly knowledgeable about Starcraft know that.

For a bit of background, iirc part of the reason why Goons are dumber than most units, despite every unit sharing the same terrible path finding engine, is their stuttering movement being not in sync with the others around it, causing their collision boxes to bang into each other more often. When they recoil to get out, there’s a chance they smash into the units behind it, causing a bit of a traffic jam.

To be fair there are many talented Foreign players in Starcraft: Brood War but if we zoom in on your definition of a pro player then we would require an ASL or KSL pro tier player to come down from South Korea. This is honestly the reason i've delayed submitting Starcraft 1 for a long time. It's intimidating putting in a game with such a strong competitive scene but im glad I did and happy with the finished product/run.

To be fair, in order to go pro, you have to be *insanely good.* I'd imagine a lot of the pros also don't have the time to spend on speedrunning when they play the game...

Pro play is such a different beast than speedrunning. Fast APM and macro/micro-ing isn't the only thing about pro play. However, it is interesting that they reference some strats in pro play like building in your opponent's base.

Can't understand why Blizzard remade all the unit portraits and the ending screens, they look vastly inferior to the originals. It seems Blizzard is bent on turning all their well-known properties into cartoons, even retroactively.
