I loved the idea as well. How Basia transferred the owl design on to the metal. And the envelope that can move around. The little wax seal on top. It's a great job!

@@Estona.Jewelry.Tutorials I will admit - I'm not entirely happy with my "moving part" choice here, I think it could've been something more ambitious haha But I needed to fix a little mistake I made and this was the only choice I had at this point. Learned a lot from it! :))

Ohhhhhh, the end result is so nice Basia!!! I really enjoyed watching your video. And picked up some tips along the way. Never thought of texturing the way you did with the owl. Printing and sticking a design to your metal and tracing it with a bur. And I love the little envelopes and the overall design. Watched the video with a big smile on my face. Thanks for this awesome collaboration Basia!!

Thank you so much, Bregje! It's one of my favourite ways of texturing, because it's very close to a drawing technique :) And the paper with the design as a reference helps a lot. Thank you, I'm very happy you enjoyed watching it and thank you for this amazing collaboration! ❤

Hiya Lady Stardust, The only word that comes to mind is, 'Magic!' A tricky subject, and I'm so glad you did not decide to make one of the most beautiful animals you've made before. A carp with a riveted tail, so it moves? No, you went the hard way and aced it. I love the envelopes and the use of that burr to engrave them very imaginatively done. Two metals with the need to control where the solder goes on the brass, courageous dear lady, and worked to perfection, as always with you. The top of the cage is often two discs, one inside the bars, and one outside, sandwiching the bars between them, your use of the silver bead was perfect, finishing the cage wonderfully and providing the bale. Very imaginative. I know you love sawing, but I would have used the guillotine for the straight lines, less clean-up and sanding. A very, very watchable film and I've learned from it, but then I always do with your work; I love how you make me think and then pull an entirely different rabbit out of the hat. Sorry, an awful magic reference. You are incredibly good at this, Basia, but I already knew. When I was married, we had two budgies in that style of cage, and they both chewed the bars a lot, so the heat damage to the bars looked to be in keeping with the cage's use. Okay, enough from me; thank you for this great answer to the challenge; you aced it, dear lady. An incredible video, wonderfully made, Steve xx

Wow, Steve, that is so sweet and kind and I'm very grateful for your words and support! So happy to hear you enjoyed it and you're too kind saying that it was worked to perfection! There were many flaws there and some solutions did not work the way I planned, but what matters here is that in the end it all came out quite well and I couldn't be happier! 😀 I really enjoyed this challenge with Bregje and I'm looking forward to another one. I also want to challenge myself to make some more complicated things, as this really brings me a lot of joy and I think it's more interesting to watch. Not to mention that it can be a learning experience both for me and for you all! Stay safe Steve, I hope the snow over there isn't too bad. It's snowing heavily here xx

This build has indeed been interesting to watch and learn from; you have raised your game to meet the challenge and done so very well. The tiny flaws you referenced were very minor and did not detract from the whole. The level of skill you have exhibited is fascinating to watch as your build progresses to a stunning finish. As with the stunning castle, you have taken a piece of modern folk law and shown how to produce art pieces from it. The fit and finish are again perfect, no saw or file marks left behind, and you have finished every surface to your usual high standard. Thank you, dear lady. We have only had about 10mm of snow, but it is now ice, so a bit problematic walking; my feet never slipped, but my crutches did quite a bit, fortunately only one at a time though. I hope you both stay safe in your winter wonderland, Steve xx

Hi Basia, that was a great challenge. I thought about a possible cage work around; similar to making a basket setting for a stone. I haven't tried this hut I imagine that laying multiple wire down flat and soldering like a spoked wheel (half), then bending the entire wire piece (looks like a half star....) around a ring clamp; shaped like the top of the cage......hmm, I think I'll try something similar, I love a challenge! Great project. I really love the hanging swinging envelope.

Small scale jewellery got my interest and the theme is great. I've watched for a while now and the work you do is a true passion it's easy to see. The details and scale are a challenge I can relate to! I think you did an outstanding job on the piece. You have a win of each experience to move forward. With that comes more skill you've earnt and it's not easy to move from your comfort zone. Brave you have to be to conquer the world. It's your world here it's a beautiful place. I would love to metal Smith and I watch but I'm in a joined world of lapidary. I even acquired a rolling press and other stuff but time mmm! All my efforts are concentrated on my lapidary carving and now finding my work is getting finer and very small scale. I need orthodontic tools to work finishes on my stones. It's a challenge most are not up to! Carvings take lots of time and I could make many polished gemstone in symetry but try for the more difficult goal. Your doing the same . Life is is full of challenges but your tough and have character ; ) you can handle it well and truly . Love what you do cheers! Travis
